To the argument that he is the "best" QB we've had post Marino, I say that if you gather a group of mediocre QB's and pick the best one out of that flawed group, the bottom line is that you're still stuck with a flawed QB.
In addition I'd take Gus Frerrote over him any day of the week.
The guy that still has teams interested in his services as an NFL QB.
Imagine where this team could have gone with the defensive core JJ built if we didn't have to suffer through Wanny, his inept coaching and drafting and his refusal to break his marriage with ears and bring in a quality starting QB.
Not one single team since Wanny left the league saw any starting potential in Fiedler, not one. That speaks volumes.
As for Fiedler playing Pro Beach Volleyball.......
He's in for a big surprise.
Those boys can play and he probably thinks he's going into some class B sport he could just walk into and be good at.
I haven't played any tourneys in years and I would bet I could Spalding tatoo him right now. -

My view always was, the guy gave us his all, and we weren't too bad while the FO was fumbling around. Was Jay awesome? No. Did we win games with him? Yes. Sometimes you don't need a stellar QB to win it all. Would we have done better if Huard would have started, that's what kills me. I was dumbfounded when the starting job was handed to Fiedler, after what Huard showed in Marino's absence.
That said, I hold that against Wanny, not Fiedler. And history has hardened my views on Fiedler. You couldn't hate the guy, only hoped we had chosen a better QB. -

To each his own. I hold no illwill against the man. He is what he is. The guy had heart and has probably taken more unneeded flack from fans than any other player in the history of the Dolphins simply because he wasn't Dan. I also don't think it is fair to blame Jay for Dave's shortcomings as a coach and g.m. If Jay isn't given the right tools and the right plays to run, its impossible for him, or any other player to be succesful.
Having said all that, you are right, he is still a flawed QB. But he was the best of any of them we had and still gets the most crap piled on him. Doesn't seem fair to me is all. -

Thanks for sharing ATVZ. I actually liked him as our QB even if he wasn't the greatest. The guy gave it his all. I will never forget a block that he made on a spring for a Ricky touchdown run against Jacksonville. Ricky went left, there was defenders. He could back and went right, one defender there and Fiedler blind sides him and we win. Best of luck to Fiedler with whichever sport he choses after football.
