I thought this was a nice little read during the bye week regarding Fasano. I remember all the cursing of our FO when the deal was made for him, I think he's definately showing that it was a great move to bring him here thus far. It sure seems like all Fasano really needed was to get out of witten's shadow in Dallas. hope you enjoy...
Miami Dolphins' Anthony Fasano emerging as an offensive threat

It's just too bad that our best receiver is a TE.
-
I was very excited to get him in the offseason. He really didnt have a chance to play behind Witten in Dallas, but he was highly regarded coming out, and in the few chances to play he did fairly well. We made out very well in that trade, and nice to see him getting touches and making the most of it.
-
Thought it was a great trade then and think it was a fantastic trade now.
-
Who cursed Parcells? I mean, a fourth rounder for a starting TE and starting ILB? Come on!

Fasano catches 2 tds and now he's a beast.

A Fasano at this point in time is our best Receiver by far, for us he is like A Gates for the Chargers a couple of years ago, just the go to guy.
I thought that was our best trade this offseason, the Fasano/Ayodele trade was better then the LBook/S Murphy trade for us at the moment.
Not a beast, just the guy with one eye in the land of the blind Receiving Corps..HULKFish likes this. -

I expect Fasano to have a good game against the Chargers, or at least catch a TD. Here are some of the numbers being put up by TE's that play the Chargers.
Zach Miller: 5/95 1 TD
Dustin Keller: 4/41 1 TD
Tony Scheffler: 6/64 2 TD
Dante Rosario: 7/96 1 TD
The only difference is that Fasano is our main receiving weapon where as those 4 players aren't. We'll see though. -

Of course he's emerging as an offensive threat, the guy's a stud.

I liked him punching the ball out of his hand.

he was comparing the situation, not the players -

Chill out.
He did not say he was Gates.
He compared us to the chargers who just like us, had nobody to catch passes, except for their TE. Who just happens to be AG, that's it.
He didint say Fasano is anything like/better/worse or anything like Gates. Just the same player in same situation.
Gates or no Gates..hes our most reliable target so far...
And he is doing better than most of us thought he would (most people had no idea what to expect)
Im pleased with his progression so far (unlike Ernest Wilford...)HULKFish likes this. -

He was saying he is like Gates from a few years ago...the go to guy. Never anything about him being as good.
Thanks for playing. -
ok, so we're all in agreement that fasano is no where near gates' level
-
But I'm also in agreement that he's been arguably our most productive player this season who has been more than adequate in blocking situations and is on pace to put up numbers that rival the best TE's in the league. And he's like 25 years old
....for a 4th round pick
I'll take that value ALL DAY -
He has played 3 games. And one of them he did not exist. How can anyone possibly go by 2 games of production to claim he's gonna put up huge numbers? I like the way he has played. But lets not get ahead of ourselves. This is why Chambers and McMike never lived up to the fans expectations. Because we see little hints of greatness, and we fast forward expecting the players to keep up. When I see Fasano step it up with some grabs in double coverage on third down, then I'll be impressed. But he hasn't done anything against even one good defense. -

If you had highlighted the whole thought then he was comparing Gates' worth to the Bolts a few yrs ago compared to Fasano's worth to us at this point...I know it's rather ticky-tacky, but he said like a Gates, not like Gates...makes a difference, at least as you read it...

Yeah, totally agree! Really weird too because I noticed him last preseason and talked to a Cowboy fan friend about him. I even said that I wouldn't mind having him on the Dolphins... Weird when those things happen, especially when you get a guy with his potential and a descent LB with one 4th rounder! -
His blocking against New England was FAR above average against a top 3 front 7 defense. There were several plays where he was put at LT and didn't get blown up once against Warren or Seymour. He held all of his blocks better than David Martin or Randy McMichael could ever imagine.
And remember that against the Jets he was our ONLY source of offense.
Yes, I agree, it's still too early to bring out the annointing oil. But the guy has been real good for us so far and on a team that hasn't had too many bright spots in the past few years he certainly looks like he could be one.
I'm pretty confident he'll be a big part of this offense for a few years at least and I'm one of the more negative fans. -
This trade could well turn out to be the best single trade made by this team in 20 years. Gotta love getting a starting TE and starting LB for 1 lousy 4th round pick. This was highway robbery IMO, and finally we were the ones doing the robbing for a change.

He actually knocked Vrabel on his *** a couple of times. -
NOT!
