Not getting Drew Brees set this franchise back YEARS not once, but TWICE. A lot of people seem to forget that.

 

Nonsense, we needed a WR who could take a 5 yd pass 80 yds, Ginn is as needed as Willis was.

Ginn is on track for 1,800 total yds or so, who on our roster could make up for that production? Who on our roster could force squib kicks that set us up at the 35-40 yd line?

Who on our roster could catch 50 yd bombs?

Don't buy the hype, our offense is just as ill as our Defense is.

Ted Ginn was the second best pick in our draft right behind Satele.:thumbup:

I don't know if it fair to slam Ginn bro, we need to get the QB to get him the ball more. He ran a touchdown back this year. That hasn't been done in a long time for the Dolphins.

Definately that doesn't even include the 2 tds called back on penalties. I think ginn has done fine personally.

 

Ginn has showed a ton of improvement over the season, he catches just about everything that comes to him and his route running has been much better as well.

 

Here is the value of Ted Ginn lbm, last game the Bills were so afraid that he would bust a kick off for a TD, they squibb kicked just to keep the ball out of his hands while the game was still close.

The Bills were blitzing everyone they had until Cleo came into the game, rolled out maybe 10 yds, and threw a 50 yd bomb to Ted Ginn, 1 play later Gado was in the endzone.

That was the end of the all out blitzes.

Ted Ginn jr. is a game changer, next year he will be even better, he won't be sitting behind Chambers giving him 8 games or so more playing time, and he will know the game better.

Ted Ginn jr was worth the slings that Cam took last April, he is that good and every bit the playmaker.

Put it another way, Ted Ginn is a much better player for us then Calvin Johnson, the #2 pick is for the Lions.

Think about that for a moment.

Don't give me his return stats are better.

This year there has been 37 return for TD's and he has 1 of them

Ginn is decent but not a Calvin Johnson as a wide out and not a Cribbs, Parrish, Hester etc as a return guy

 

Johnson has played more at Wr then Ginn has, Ginn still ties Johnson in YPC, and Ginn of course blows Johnson away in total yds and in longest reception Ginn is at 52, Johnson is at 39 with the same QB, not our motley crew and with Roy Williams playing second fiddle.

Johnson has more first downs a product of playing more, and more yds per game, once again a product of starting.

For the Miami Dolphins, Ted Ginn is far more valuable then Calvin Johnson is for Detroit, there literally is no comparison.

BTW Ginn also leads in YAC

The two are comparible, but Ginn for the Miami Dolphins is just far more valuable then Calvin Johnson is for the Lions.

Ted Ginn has over 1,550 yds, and is our only offensive "threat", he also forces our opponents to squib kick, giving us excellent starting field position.

He has had two (2) tds called back on kick returns, Ginn is about all we have on offense, and he is worth much more to us then Johnson would be.

 

I see what youre saying, but just because hes our only threat doesnt mean hes a player. He hasnt (yet) shown anything special. Johnson has shown some consistancy, Ginn not so much. Ginn has an excuse though, no regular QB play, ect. But we cant put all our marbles into him either. we tried that with Chambers and it didnt work out. So we dont know what he will become, and how it would be different without him. The main reason for all this is passing on Drew Brees. If he we had Brees, we probably couldve seen his full potential this year, having a seasoned Pro Bowl QB behind center with the Offensive genius that developed him.

 

True, now here is where Ted Ginn is special, our QB stinks, but Ginn can bust a kick return any time he has the ball, Ginn doesn't "need" a QB to effect a game.

Ya but how often do really good returners return kicks for TDs? Hester is an exception for one: he doesn't have Keith Armstrong as ST coach and secondly he isn't looked at being one of their "primary" receivers either. ITs not like were going to win games because Ginn is a good kick returner. We need a game breaker, if Ginn is that guy, then we need a good possession receiver to balance the offense.

 

Exactly, and Hagan has been a bit spotty in that role, he has made a ton of 1st downs, he just has too many drops.

Double up on Ginn, then Hagan has to make them pay for doing that, and sometimes he does, sometimes he doesn't.:confused2:

Of hagan's 24 rec (!) 16 have went for 1st downs.

He has to do better then 24 catches though, that is pitiful.

Ginn has that many in mostly PT duty, and Hagan's 2 td's ! is also pretty pathetic.

Ginn does more for us, he returns kicks, both punts and kick offs, he also seems to have the magic of "separation" while going deep, for us he does three jobs, Johnson only does one, and he doesn't elevate his teamates as of yet, Ginn elevates his.

 

We'll still need another WR. Hopefully we can pick up a good one in the 2nd round. I see Hagan play and all I can see is Chris Chambers. It's been very refreshing watching Ted Ginn play this year. Not only everything else that's already been mentioned, but we actually have a WR who knows how to catch, and doesn't slip and fall all the time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Ginn has only 2 drops this year.

 

Exactly. Seperation has been lacking a great deal these past few years in Miami.

The reason Ginn's numbers aren't higher is the team around him. This is true for many of our players that could be doing better. If Beck gets better (yes he still might) or we find a QB that does, and the O line does better and there are multiple threats on the field then Ginn could be an explosive weapon. There are too many other positions any player is dependent on to weigh an entire season or even just single drive on a single player.

I read one remark on the Pats and their passing games success that illustrates this point. Basically they have so many threats at receiver that there is almost always at least one open for Brady. More so with the D's focusing on shutting down Moss.

The best QB in the world wont hit receivers if his line feeds him to the dogs every down. The best receiver in the world wont get many TD's etc if the QB can't get the ball to him preferably in stride.

Also it seems that many teams have much better blocking on special teams making Ginn's returns that much more impressive. I didn't like the Ginn pick at first but looking back it really was not a bad choice considering the team needs time (2 to 3 years) to fully rebuild and become a contender with longevity, not just a quick short term fix.

 

For a "Raw" WR Ginn has shown alot of progress this year.
He's got solid hands and I didnt see a problem with his route running at the games I went to.
Now if Cleo could actually connect with Ginn when he attempts to go deep then maybe some of these past games turn out differently.

 

Ginn is a bust! He was definitely not worth the 9th over all pick. Anyone that thinks that after watching him this season better go get some coffee and wake up! Thats why I think you have to let Mueller go. I don't see anything out of Ginn that makes me think that pick was worth it. I could of justified maybe a straight wide receiver but Ginn is far from a polished receiver. Playmakers show up on Sundays, they don't need years to develop.

I think when Saban chose fumbling Culpepper instead of Breez that set us back years. Then you add the Mueller mess up and thats why we are in the situation we are in now. Every coach thinks we can get some washed up old quarterback and win. Its because we had a defense back then to over look the terrible quarterback play. But now you can see how bad we are in need of that position because the defense can't make up for all the fumbles, interceptions and low passes anymore!

 

1) By not contributing to a successful drive to the end zone. In another words, you have guys that are reliable on every down, you can feel safe throwing to him because you know he'll fight for the ball and do everything he can to catch it. I havent seen that Ginn yet, but if we had another WR(possesion) and a decent QB it couldve made his job easier. Sounds alot like the Chambers problem we had for six years.
