I liked him at LSU too. He'd make a nice 3 technique to replace Starks, though I more hope we are able to land Earl Mitchell to take the 1 technique role that Soliai held.

Earl Mitchell is also on our radar. Seems like there's no interest in bringing neither Starks nor Soliai back or maybe they're trying to get them to lower their demands.

We need a run stopper in the middle, if not Soilia then who? Cause it ain't Tyson Jackson.

Mitchell isn't a giant, but statistically he is a run stopper.

I'd love to see us bookend our tackles today. Give me Zach Strief to go along with Branden Albert. Let's get our quarterback protected.

i would love to land strief. he graded out in the top 5 RT's in the league last year IIRC.

I am not a big fan of Strief, to be honest. He got ranked high by PFF but I watched him a lot on game rewind film and I think a lot of his good ranking came from the Saints running away from him. He didn't greatly impress me. But, he would definitely be an upgrade.

I would be pretty pleased if we signed:

A) Albert
B) Mitchell at DT
C) Tyson Jackson

I think that would be a good youth movement on the DL. But, it would be a downgrade from Starks to Jackson, unfortunately. However, if it were a rotation with Odrick, he may improve his play in a 4-3 rotational situation. Let's hope so! That said, I am not sure we could sign Starks even if we offered him the best deal. But, we may also have to wait and see how the water settles after the initial storm and see what the "pricing" is.

After that I'd like to see us go after another O-lineman a bit cheaper.

I was telling my friend the other day that no matter how bad your team is, there are three days on the NFL calander that are always exciting. Today, draft day, opening day.

I know I'm in the minority here but I'd add schedule release day to that list as well. I love that stuff.

Adding Albert and Strief would instantly transform our pass protection from one of the worst in the league to one of the best. The OG spots can be filled pretty easily.

I've never been a big fan of Tyson Jackson. Not a bad player but not an impact guy and more of a 3-4 DE IMO. I'd love to see us draft Aaron Donald -- he's my favorite player in this draft and an absolute impact player. A pass rush with Wake, Donald, Odrick, Vernon and Jordan could be devastating with any real improvement from Jordan. I'd look to add a run stuffer type (or maybe resign Soliai if the price is right).

agreed on Donald, but you know he ain't gonna be there Fineas, the dude can play some linebacker, lol.

I'd be more excited about Jackson Than you would be

I'd like to bring devin Hester home.

The NFL does a great job of spreading things out so you are almost always looking forward to something. Props to Roger and his marketing team.

Tony Pauline ‏@TonyPauline 20s

i'm still hearing NY Jets in the mix for receiver James Jones along with NY Giants, Miami Dolphins and a fourth team...Detroit Lions no more..

For some reason that's last in my list after senior bowl, combine, free agency, draft, ota coverage..training camp.

Dansby got 4 years for 24 mil from Cleveland.

Likely a million for every lb he'll come in overweight in Sept.

Oh wow.

I reeeally like him as a player. I'm just not sure that adding this many FA WRs in two consecutive years is the best way to structure a unit. Interesting.

Their defense last year was very underrated, and now they're back adding more pieces. Should be a really strong unit. Got all those picks too.

Donald may not make it to 19, but I think he may well get into the neighborhood, i.e., trade up range. He's a special and unique player, but he's just not a scheme fit for many, others have other more pressing needs, and others won't be willing to use such a high pick on a guy who many will see as limited to being a situational rotation player. I don't think he is so limited and I think he is a scheme fit with Coyle's modeling of the Cincy defense to some degree, as Donald easily fits into that Geno Atkins role. I love Atkins, but think Donald is a "rich man's" Geno Atkins. That kind of penetration and pressure up the middle is huge.

I'd be pleased if we brought in Hester at a reasonable price.

Well we already know the opponents.. so the release of the actual dates isn't huge unless your a seasons ticket holder.

...Surprised we're in on Jones. I don't identify WR as a top priority at this point.
Look at our opponents next year.. Broncos, Lions, Bears, Packers, Patriots(x2), Chargers, Ravens. Those teams can seriously air the ball out. I think an extra cornerback should be a priority.

But I'm also not a fan of Jones in general.

Reports are the Browns are talking to Tampa about possibly trading for Revis too and that's what is holding up Revis's release.
So could still get much, much , better. Him an Haden together would be a site to see.

I'd have to agree schedule day is really exciting, because we can finally see how the NFL is going to screw us that year.

Will not be happy if NE does manage to get Emmanuel Sanders away from PIT this year.

This post gets me hyped..

Aaron Donald and Sheldon Richardson are very similar to where I have them rated at this time of this year and last year, I had Sheldon as having a very good chance of being the best defender in the draft..if you can get that any where near 19, or 15 this year, then freakin go for it..
