Yeah, I know. In so many ways this has been beat to death, but I needed to vent my frustration. I do not understand, for the life of me, why Miami is never aggressive in free agency. They never seem to have a real plan. They never go all out for THEIR guy. It just boggles my mind. I can somewhat understand trading Marshall, who is, and has been, unhappy with Miami because of the ongoing QB situation, and because of his off the field issues. Nevertheless I was stunned - and I'm not even a fan of Marshall. Straight up, I think he's a *****.
What's bothersome is, given the fact that Ross has deep pockets, and is willing to spend, why the **** are we so conservative in our approach in free agency? It's been this way for years. You see these other teams swoop in and get their guy and we watch our team standing around, hands in pockets, looking like a group of horses asses.
Some may say that we are waiting to see what Manning is going to do. I say F*** that. You don't let one guy with a 2-3 year shelf life hand cuff your team and it's immediate and long term future. It's just not worth it. Some may think so, but I wholeheartedly think it's the wrong way to go. Our receiving corp is laughable now. Uncertainty at QB. Uncertainty on the line. Uncertainty in the secondary. Uncertainty with a pass rusher opposite Wake. And even uncertainty at running back. (Can't count on Reggie Bush repeating last year, and DT didn't show me ****.) There are so many needs on this team and there is no way we can fill them all in the draft. And it's pointless to fill them with second and third rate free agents. We've all seen how that turns out.
I'd like to know the plan our front office has put together. At least it would give me something to laugh at. No wonder Miami is becoming what used to be the Detroit Lions. And we all saw how long they took to matter...

How does acquiring BMarsh, Dansby, Pennington, Bush, etc. not being aggressive in Free Agency?
Call the acquisitions bad if you must, but to act like we are timid when it comes to FA is bizarre to me.unluckyluciano and Agua like this. -

Wait, how can you be mad that Miami isn't aggresively going after their guy when they are aggressively going after thier guy.
Why #### that with Manning when that is their guy? -

So what were we when we signed Smiley at like 12:01am on opening day of FA if we weren't aggressive?
-
Dansby was, by far, the most aggressive I have seen from our front office in a very long time. Reggie Bush was a trade. But, ok, I'll bite. Most people thought Reggie Bush was a big risk. Turns out he put together a very solid season. Can he duplicate it? Will he be as motivated next season now that he's proven his point?
Pennington? Come on man. Everyone knew that he was going to be a high risk. And we did okay with him. But he wasn't a "solution." He was the prettiest girl at the prom and we were desperate. Marshall? Mistake. The price wasn't bad if it wasn't for the fact that he carried too much baggage, was a QBs nightmare, and a *****. His personality type can bring a team down.
Two of the three you named were trades. One is gone, and not surprisingly. The other still, in my opinion has some question marks. But at least RBs question mark isn't as big as Marshall's. Reggie Bush has good character and gives his all. The question for him is can he sustain it. -

And that's part of what I said to begin with. I'm not letting a QB with maybe 2 or 3 years dictate the direction of the team. By waiting, we are, AT LEAST potentially, hurting this team short and long term. -
It's not like the best players all signed within the first 24 hours. Be patient.

It's funny. You seem happy with the way things are going. Are you drooling in your pants over Manning like 90% of the fan base. Get over it and look forward. This team needs a lot more than Manning. -
Wasn't Cameron Wake a free agent?
I am not so sure they don't have a plan this time around. There has got to be some reason why they haven't been very aggressive signing Manning. I don't know if its a plan that we all agree with but they don't really care if we like it or not.DOLFANMIKE likes this. -
you guys watch Meachem will have a beast year as long as he and rivers both stay healthy hes a perfect fit next to Floyd and gates

So, you have to be joking because you are not making sense. You are totally changing your point. -

We haven't been aggressive so far this year. I know this year started yesterday according to the NFL but its true we haven't done anything but trade our most talented troublesome player away and resign a couple of our own guys and get rid of a handful of our own guys. Pft has a top 100 free agents and 23 players on that list have already signed with a team. I think manning is holding us out for too long. Hopefully it pays off.

Hardly the same as us never being aggressive like you seemed to claim in the OP though. -
did you guys even watch saints or chargers games this year? Meachem didn't get nearly enough snaps to put up massive numbers hes a up and coming wr who had a slow start to his career due to injuries this will be his year to shine.

I don't understand how manning handcuffed us either to be honest. By most reports we are talking to flynn, two wrs and an o line man already.
-
-
I wish we'd just move on to Flynn and sign Soliai and Winston too, but I'm not getting worked up about limited movement on day 2 (barely 24 hrs into the new year at that). -
