YES!!!!!!!!! Dolphins 1-0!!! Elite level performance by Tua and the offense. 3 TD 1 INT, 466 yards and 110 rating!! Continuing the #1 passing offense from last year! And Hill with 215 receiving yards! Maybe this year he can set the record for 2000+ receiving yards. Of course this is the kind of QB performance some posters keep insisting is merely that of an "average" or "slightly above average" QB. LOLOL! Remember, none of this was due to Tua.. it's due to his surroundings LOLOL. Let's see what kind of goalpost moving they come up with next. On a more serious note, the defense was trash today, but that is NOT as big a concern as some of you make it out to be. Fangio is known to start off slow in his first year. It will get better as the season goes along. Statistically you can expect our defense to end up middle of the road.
You thought that you had seen this movie before, didn't you? Turns out, this was the reboot and the director made a few changes to the script. I'm on Cloud 9 for a week.
Just realised Tua needed less than 40 yards for the big ol' 500. In inconsequential things, that will do me quite nicely in my fantasy league.
Maybe, but I think the biggest thing was he looked far more comfortable in that offense than ever. Makes sense given it's year 2 in the McDaniel program. Maybe a little more confidence and alot better navigating the pressure/pocket and making throws on the run. Just seemed like he knew what to expect even when things broke down.
Great end to weekend. Now I need to get to bed as it's nearly 1am here and got work in a few hours. Go phins, till next week, woohoo!!!! FD
12:45am here and my adrenaline is pumping. No chance I’ll be going to sleep before 3am. May as well watch the night game now.
That was a Marino performance today from Tua he liftet the whole team, despite a poor D and a Kicker who can’t hit a PAT. Special thumbs up to our O-line playing very well despite missing the best player. Disappointment the D-line they need to get their **** together. oh and @Stale Taco did you see bulky Tua scrambling?!
They didn’t blitz a lot, but they blitzed at the right time. Though the Herbert's intentional grounding penalty helped.
That penalty was also the result of a blitz though. The sudden change in our D clearly had him shook that whole series. As bad as the D was most of the day. Fangio 110% earned his paycheck this week with that last series and changing it up bringing the heat.
Whirlwind of emotions all around these forums and I’m one of those posters. So many years we have been through these kinda tough losses today felt like that but when it really mattered VIC and the defense rose and delivered hats off to them and the oline was decent today I thought it was going to be a major issue and it was with blockhead center who seems to be looking for a way to get fired! congrats to everyone and to the fans who rode this ride I’m completely wet from sweat and almost had to buy a new tv as the remote was going to go trough the tv with an L
Be careful there. If you post this, somebody else is going to post "1 INT and 1 lost fumble". You know that glass is always half empty in some corners of this forum.
While we're gloating: Patriots lost! Also, this is the most points we've scored in an opener in over 20 years (since 2002). Finally good to see us starting strong!
I think the move to Dallas will be big for him. I think he just needed a change of scenery. Something wasn't working here for him, whether it's the team, the scheme, miami itself, the lack of expectations in Dallas of being a high pick, or whatever the case is... sometimes a change of scenery is necessary for some players. Noah could be one of them. Or he could continue to be what we know him as. Different schemes, different coaches, different attitudes.. it can make a difference though. He's young, so he's still got alot of time to grow.
Waddle has all the skill and talent to be a #1 star wide receiver and he is willing to play second fiddle to Tyreek Hill without complaints. he will get his, but a lot of wide receivers out there would allow their ego to get in the way of the team in his situation.
You can tell he's having fun. He also knows how important Hill is to his own production. With the addition of Hill (and McDaniel), Waddle's efficiency jumped like crazy from 9.8 Y/R in 2021 to a league leading 18.1 Y/R in 2022! And today it was 19.5 Y/R lol. Most WRs, even those with decent egos, would be satisfied with that. Besides, Hill > Waddle, and I think Waddle knows that. Hill is still for me the MVP of this team, and he's earning every bit of that contract.
He's definitely going to get his, I can see Waddle getting a 30M a year contract in 2 years time. I'm expecting teams to try and double Tyreek for a few weeks now after that performance, no way any defensive co-ordinator is going to try that Chargers approach so I'm expecting Waddle to pop off the next 2 games.
Looking back to how pass happy we got even although the running game looked solid I think this game was McDaniel saying to people that he didn't get out-schemed last season. The Chargers were one of the few teams who actually took the middle of the field away successfully and to start this season the Dolphins absolutely shredded them over the middle. 45 pass attempts and over 10 ypa with the vast majority of them over the middle, I wonder what Belicheat is going to do to try and stop it.
They managed to force a few turnovers on the Eagles yesterday and ran them close so we can't expect an easy game next week.
Oh, I don't think it will be easy, they have a really, really good defence. I'm just curious to see what Bill comes up with to try and force Tua to throw outside, he's still one of the best defensive minds in the game.
Here’s my take and it’s a very simple one… Tagovailoa is undefeated against the Patriots. He’s 4-0 and Tua’s performances against the Patriots has only improved game after game.
LOL, this is my first time playing fantasy football. I benched Tua and started Burrow since he had the better matchup vs Cleveland. Lesson learned...I knew better. Great win by the Fins, Tua really showed out as expected. Glad the extra muscle hasn't affected his throwing motion or release, and it should serve him well this season. Defense got carved up but no worries, Fins up 1-0. Pats lost too, and the Bills or Jets will lose tonight (hopefully Bills win, screw the Jets & Rodgers). Going to be a great season folks....with Miami wins and Rodgers crying a river!
Never Bet Against Your Own Team! I only did fantasy football once over in Iraq. I started Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. That week I kicked everyone in the teeth…thanks to the Wildcat. Scored 40 points on those two alone.
Funnily enough I have the exact same two QBs in my team and started Tua hoping that this might be a shootout. I wasn't sure what side he'd come out of it on, but I knew it would be sat on stats and that means points for us. Plus I had him stacked with a certain Cheetah, safe to say it was a good week for me.
I agree this was Tua's best game lf his career. He played great. Hopefully we can keep it up. The chargers were not able to do what they did last year and jam receivers at the line, which was their downfall. They were playing press but getting no hands on our receivers.
For the most part the chargers didn't play the same scheme this year as they did last year. Waddle and Hill were getting free releases off the line and their timing was not disrupted, which is what gave us big problems last year.
