I think the "learning" comment is regarding his route responsibilities.

Wow.. not many coaches will tell a player to toughen up in public like that. Really like this Gase guy's attitude.
Time for the regular season to finally start so we can see how good (or not) he really is.P h i N s A N i T y, dolphin25 and Rickysabeast like this. -
good. let's see if he responds. He has made a great call here. Miami has to know what they have for now and future. Gase can't afford him to be a diva. Pieces here are being compared to pieces in Denver, and Parker is our D Thomas.

That was a zinger aimed right at the kids toughness. Let's see if he responds with good, physical play.

To me, this is a great sign (of Gase's head coaching qualities). He sees more than we do, and thinks Devante could be doing more to physically prepare and condition himself. You have to hold your guys accountable.

frankly he needed this. he is depended on as an Alpha X. If he isn't then we go back into the draft next year to get one

Kinda mixed messages considering Gase was overly cautious with him. Now calling him a *****.
Worst case scenario Parker knocks out "crazy as hell" Shawn Jefferson during one of Shawn's padded drills...Finster likes this. -
yeah but Gase starts a certain way, same thing with Dallas Thomas. But after a while, if the performance or maintenance or desire isn't there, he will make the move quicklyPandarilla likes this. -
When you've got one of the toughest pound for pound receivers playing on the same offense, the bar is set high.
You can look buttery soft pretty quickly if you fall under that bar.findifference likes this. -
Which makes me like (and the Fins depend) on Carroo more than ever. If Stills the deep threat Gase likes, and Carroo shows up, I am confident that Parker won't be resigned when the time comes. And the next WR they draft will be more like Carroo and Landry. I think thats the direction they are going anyway.

A player like Parker would have never been able to play under a Shula, Lombardi or the great head coaches of the past. Because players back then weren't playing with guaranteed money and they didn't miss games because of a different ailment each week.
Heck, Bob Kuechenberg played several games with a broken arm and he got mad because a reporter asked him if he should be playing with the injury.
Gase is 100% correct in questioning Parker. Because it doesn't matter if he hurts his feelings or not. Parker isn't doing a single thing to help the team if he can't get on the field. Gases is merely telling Parker to man up and do the things nevessary to avoid so many injuries. At this stage of his career, Parker appears to be injury prone and he certainly doesn't need to be coddled by Gase and the coaching staff.DolphinGreg and The G Man like this. -
I think players get a bad rap as being soft these days. Sure some, are softies. But QBs regularly play pretty hurt. Rivers, bone on bone. Didn't Marcia Brady play with 3 broken ribs and a broken finger a few years back. Andrew Luck was injured.
Sometimes, playing injured will hurt your team, so it's a balance.Finster likes this. -

I liked the Carroo pick as well and think he can become a solid 2 down the road but he doesn't have what Parker does physically.jdang307 likes this. -

As far as Parker goes, he is proving to be soft as Charmin and proving to be the wasted pick I thought he would be. I dont see Parker being better then a #2 on any team. Because SIZE isnt EVERYTHING.

I had concerns drafting Parker because we have a history of taking guys with injury red flags and it always seems to blow up in our faces. DVP is proving to be a guy with mountains of potential but he cant stay on the field. We have to keep Stills and might have to find another #1 guy to pair with Juice. It is incredibly disappointing.

DeVante will be fine. He has to learn taking care of his body is more then just weight room. It's eating correctly.. Hydrating correctly.
