Once again......all about the oline

 

It's shocking.

 

Well, it's clear he just figured out his roster. Some of it was inexcusable - rotating 4 backs, keeping your 1 difference maker on D off the field - running a pass happy offense with a game manager QB.

He's still fighting his urge to go pass happy, but he's learning.

 

Let's not discount a 4 game home stand.

As pleased as I am with consecutive performances like this - I'm withholding full judgement until they do this on the road.

 

If they can beat the bills and jets in a row then I might start to put 1 foot on the wagon because I can't rememeber the last time we did that no matter how bad these two teams have been.

 

Defense stays fresh when they aren't right back on the field after another 3 and out...Tolda ya's.

 

I said it after the first game. Gase is right. It mostly starts with all 5 starting OL being back and not abandoning the run early. The unicorn stat line is starting to be a large enough sample to really point that out now being 9-1.

 

Mostly due to RT getting enough time in the pocket and our RB's getting holes to run through.

A lot of people told ya. ;)

 

And WHY are they able to sustain drives?

Well, duh.

Do you think 1 off season, in particular the way they practice nowadays, is enough time to figure out everybody? Add into that injuries and being a 1st time HC and you get what you see.

Don Shula went 8-6 during his first NFL season as a HC and he had Johnny F%#*ing Unitas as his QB. ANd that 8-6 was 3rd place in the division, if you were wondering.

Belichick went 6-10 his 1st season and had Bernie Kosar as his QB.

Tom Landry went 0-11-1 his first season and didn't have a winning season until his 7th.

 

Bahahahaha!

Because we have become the best running offense in football.

back to back 100 passer ratings is not managing.

And just an FYI, RT has had a 94 or greater passing rating in 4 games. Which is 1 better than Aaron Rodgers. 3 better than Cam Newton. 2 better than Russel Wilson. 1 better than Andrew Luck.

Those 4 QB's are game managers. lol

Has he played well in this role? I think so...but he also has shown what he is when he has to do more then he is now. Pedestrian.

Save your stats for ESPN google guy. Even Gase wasnt very impressed by his play Sunday..felt he left plays on the field..and he DID.

Also go rewatch the first half go the Bengals game...yea...he was atrocious. Wanna know what his "rating" was at the half? 108. Tells you all you need to know about that stat.

Here's what's crazy: we say for four years that he needs a decent oline. You argue and say he's no good because he can't carry a team. Then, this year, we get an oline, for a couple games, finally, and they actually, you know, are able to establish a run game, and you bash on Tannehill for that.

I've been saying for four years, it's absolutely true, the guy can't win with some people.

 

Who said he wasn't leaving plays on the field? How many perfect passing ratings do you see each season? Because every one that's not perfect is because the QB is leaving plays on the field. But, if he's leaving plays on the field and getting a higher passing rating than the QB's I mentioned, well....I think you know the rest. And if you don't, it wouldnt be worth my time explaining it to you.

It's funny, here in this thread, AGAIN, the goalposts are being moved. Now rating isn't a good indicator (flip flop, hahaha), and ypa is meaningless. The very things they bashed Tannehill for, they now discount.

 

To recount the things that would indicate if Thill was good or not over the years....

- TD to Int ratio
- Deep passes (20 yard standard, then the 40 yard made up benchmark)
- QB rating
- Clutch (all standard definitions, the one cbrad made up)
- It
- YPA
- Being allowed to audible or not
- Wins

It is kind of absurd. You'd think that a Dolphin fan would want their starting QB to be good enough to take a team to the playoffs. Instead it seems, with some here, that being "right" trumps even having a franchise QB.

Yes, Gase should have figured out his roster before game 6. He should have realized prior to game 6 that keeping wake off the field wasn't a great idea. Rotating 4 rbs wasn't pretty dumb too. Anyone on this board could have told him these things, along with the basic idea that passing nonstop is a surefire way to keep your defense on the field. Somehow, he has had winning football thrust upon him by his OL telling him wtf to do. Now, he just needs to not try and outsmart himself. I hand it to him for getting those bums' attention by benching and firing them, though.

 

Funny how this logic never applied to Bill Lazor. When Albert, Pouncey, and James were all healthy we went 6-1 (or 7-1?) with Lazor at OC. And yet he was the whipping boy of this forum this past offseason. Guess there'll always be a scapegoat.

You should never lose a game where your lead back totes it 28 times at 7.6ypc. Let alone 25 times at 8.2ypc.

 

Apologize if I was grumpy last night, I hate the Indians and my NBA team lost by 30 and on top of that I'm n pain from the dentist.

However I've said this multiple times. I LOVE Ryan in this role.....to me he is a notch above a game manager type of QB which can be said for most of the qbs in the league.

Am I confident that when our run game is out of control he can make enough plays to lead the offense? I'm really not. Doesn't mean he can or won't I simply haven't seen enough happen for me to believe that.

Would LOVE to be wrong because with this running game and fresh defense having a top 10 QB would take us to places we never imagined we could go.

Lazor was criticized, rightly so, because while trotting out awful olines, he continued to have Tannehill throw 30+ times a game, and abandoned the run game.

 

When Lazor was the OC we had the fewest rushing attempts in the league over his tenure and he took away Thill's ability to audible.

 

Like Gase did his first 4 weeks without Albert-Pouncey-James? Here's the breakdown of dropbacks to RB carries:

SEA: 34 to 15
NE : 45 to 10
CLE: 40 to 24
CIN: 40 to 13

whats happening these last two games is pretty cool, I'm pretty sure most 2nd string qbs could post the same numbers, at some point the qb will have to make crucial individual games on a consistent basis to go deep..we'll see, maybe this running weapon allows him to see the game differently..
