But this happens at the University of Florida, and I still laugh.

That outta show UM who Thug U is:up:
in all seriousness the writer makes a good point, even Channing got into a few barfights. -
Marcus Hannah: burglary
Cam Newton: Burglary, Larceny and obstruction
Hornsby: Criminal mischief
Ronnie Wilson: aggravated assault, battery, and discharging a weapon (semi-auto) in committing a felony
Dorian Monroe: felony theft
Avery Adkins: domestic Battery
Torrey Davis: Probation violation
Jcques richardson: domestic violence
We have VERY VERY different views on what is "major". -

More like jealousy.Florida is the top dog and when someone is on top everyone wants to knock them down. The fact that Florida is held to higher standards than other programs with similar and more serious charges validates that IMO.
If there is anything to blame its the culture of NCAA football programs IMO .
No one likes these type of incidents but it reflects the lowering of standards in academic and character requirements all in the name of winning.Themole and Frumundah Finnatic like this. -
Don's just upset because his college picked an inept coach.
-
Sure they took disciplinary action AFTER the fact instead of exercising control while ON the team....the term lack of institutional control is one the NCAA likes. I am not suggesting that they will get to that point but for instance take the U, they have had 2 arrest, one for taking a car mirror during the same time frame....yet who is thug U? Miami fans defended to indefensible, back in the day and now Gator fans are doing the same things they railed on UM fans for. -
:words: Defended the undefensible? More like were proud of it.
I'm not excusing the behavior by any means.. My point is that it is a problem nation wide not just at Florida. They just get the finger pointed at them because of their recent success and/or personal hatred for their coach. Not to mention you can't babysit these kids 24/7, they are in the national spotlight and some think they can get away with anything. At least Meyer is trying to set an example with the offenders which is more than some coaches are doing these days.my 2 cents and Frumundah Finnatic like this. -
I can buy all you said and you know my hatred for all things Meyer. So there is bias here admittedly.
Meyer bends as many rules as he can and has no class and does not belong in the same building, same county, or same state with class acts like Donovan and Sully. Part of the reason he turned down the ND job was because they would not allow "exceptions" as recruits, Florida has taken numerous exceptions and a couple guys than barely got by the clearinghouse...this should not surprise anyone. Their APR's are high as compared to the rest of BCS schools but are starting to slip, their incidents are occurring more often,,,,and Meyer said the "top 1% of the top 1%...he should not have to bring this type player into the program and should not have to punish them AFTER the fact......the signs of trouble are there and as Big Julius said "attitude reflect leadership". But I do agree the problem is not isolated to UF and needs to be addressed at a fairly high level IMHO. -
Just because the NCAA has that culture doesnt mean the school has to play along and lower it's standards.
If you want to be a football factory (SEC) these things will happen at your school at a higher rate than other schools.
This guys just saying UF shouldnt accept that culture, even if it means they dont win as much.my 2 cents likes this. -
I work with a former Ohio State standout who admitted SO much stuff is concealed by the program from a criminal standpoint that its not funny!
One player he played with had an ounce of weed and 50 "x" pills delivered to his room, he got caught and the coaches just gave him a lecture and let him keep the drugs. This player was a standout player and went on to have drug problems in the NFL, so bad that it actually cost him his career.
These things happen all the time to basically all the major programs. -

Sadly you can prob. make a list like this for alot of major colleges. UF is being picked on due to the fact that they are on top. FSU, UM, have both been in the news numerous times over the yrs for stuff like this. The coaches are just that, coaches, not baby sitters, not parents.
