We'll see the true projections later today but I think Auburn is #2 at the very least behind FSU. No way they only moved up 1 when OSU barely beat an unranked team.
I could see something lame like: 1) FSU 2) OSU 3) Auburn 4) Alabama 5) Missouri I know it -shouldnt- be that way, but this is the BCS,
Really hope Auburn gets to #2 by the end of this. They deserve it. Hell, Alabama deserves it. If Ohio State gets the nod, I'll enjoy watching them get trounced by the Noles. I watched the Iron Bowl in Alabama yesterday. Lots of hootin' and hollerin' after that one. - sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 beta -
Ohio State hasn't lost a football game in 2 seasons, have one of the 2-3 best head coaches in CFB, a QB/RB duo who will both receive Heisman votes.... I realize they are a team others love to hate, but if they beat MSU? It's a no brainer.
I kind of agree but I'm not sure OSU is the second best team. The question is if a one loss team should ever get in over an undefeated. Remember Auburn still plays Missouri as well which is another huge win. I do yhink an undefeated should get in over a one loss unless they beat absolutely noone.
Thankfully this won't be an issue next season. OSU definitely isn't the second best team but they're undefeated so you can't really leave them out of the title game. They'll likely get trounced by FSU.
I'm one of those who doesn't really respect the Bucks schedule. That's my beef. Kind of like Boise State a few years ago. I don't think they've earned it like Auburn or Alabama. They've feasted largely on cupcakes in my view. And yeah, I have a lot of obnoxious OSU friends who hate on the SEC (and I'm an SEC honk) so there is that adversarial relationship. - sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 beta -
To be fair the SEC was pretty weak this season aside from its top teams. Florida was terrible, Georgia? Vanderbilt? LSU is down. I can't say a one loss SEC team deserves it over an undefeated.
If they can beat A very good Michigan State team I think that proves they belong. That's a FG game either way IMO.
And what about the Big 10? Soft serve IMO. The SEC still has three teams in the Top 5. Georgia was tough before injuries. LSU is still pretty good. Even a defenseless A&M nearly beat Bama. I think it was down 'defensively', with a lot of guys going to the NFL. Bama's lone loss comes on a rare, improbable last-second return. Against an elite rival, on the road. I'm just not overwhelmed by close wins over Iowa, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Michigan. Michigan State should challenge. Good defense. - sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 beta -
Comes down to competition, bro. There have been times in years (decades?) past that OSU deserved a high ranking. Nothing to do with love/hate. But, They don't have strong competition in the Big 10 like they do in the SEC. As it is, it is almost a given that the rankings will be: 1) FSU; 2) OSU; 3) AU; 4) AL; 5) MO. Auburn will get closer to OSU because of the win against Bama and if they beat Missouri in the SEC title game (not a given, btw) they will move even closer. But, OSU will get enough of a bounce with a win against MSU to put them in the title game. That does not mean they belong in the title game or are one of the two best teams. They might possibly be so, but going undefeated against Big 10 competition hasn't proven that. And the way they have played - I don't see it. I think Alabama would beat them soundly. And, I think FSU will also. But, the reality is, all this is a mess because the BCS is a disaster, even when it lucks out and gets it right. The Four-team playoffs can't come soon enough but, even then, the 8 team route is the best. There are going to be plenty of 5th ranked teams that could easily be a top 4 candidate.
Nothing against OSU, but I hope Mich St. wins just so that AU (if they win out) can be in the title game. Even though I think Bama is the better team (on a neutral field I think they'd have won that AU game - it was a series of flukey plays - basically came down to an OL raising his back about two inches for a split second before a snap). Of course, one of the truly great games in CFB history - maybe the best in past decade.
To be fair the 99 yard TD was a flukey play as well. That doesn't generally happen and was basically a prayer.
And got there by doing what Urban does best, getting the easiest schedule possible. OSU has no business in the title game and would get destroyed by FSU anyways. I will say they at least deserve a shot though via playoffs so it sucks that doesn't happen until next year. Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk
They also blew out nearly every opponent including Clemson while OSU struggled vs several bad - mediocre teams. Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk
OSU will need more then a flag from God this time around should they meet up with FSU in a title game.
Lol, tell the Canes and their gold teeth to stop holding. And what makes you think Ohio State would have no chance? We have the better coach and a very good offense. IF it's those two teams, I'm guessing both teams near 40 points.
FSU hasn't trailed in a game since September. I think that has something to do with it. They also blew out a team that was at the time top 5 in Clemson.
Sure they'll have a chance. Jameis Winston might get charged with sexual assault and suspended before the game. Outside of that....
I'm not engaging with bitter Cane fans or blind Florida St fans until Ohio State wins Saturday night. They are playing the best defense in the country, so I'm not gonna talk about a matchup that may never happen.
Its possible FSU loses to Duke as well. Yeah I get its highly unlikely, but they still have a game to play.
If Jimbo Fisher loses out on the national title game because he can't beat Duke he should resign from coaching football forever.
I'm not saying its likely at all. Just that its a football game left to play thst the players need to take seriously
Wow well, let's hope Ohio State loses next week, or else we're going to get a boring slaughtering win from FSU in the national title game..
I can honestly say if its OSU-FSU I will be a Buckeye fan for a night. There is no UM-OSU rivalry. We played one game that ended up a classic. I dont like it, but Id rather them than the Noles.

FSU's backups could probably compete for a BCS game. They can have an uncharacteristic down game and it still ends in a route [like against Miami]. Pretty much sums them up.
Miami was depleted by injuries big time and not ready for a game that big talent wise this season. Not the best comparison. We went on to lose against VA Tech and Duke. I'm pretty sure whoever they play it will be a close game. Even Ohio State.
The state of Miami's team had nothing to do with FSU and Winston coming out incredibly flat. My point was that even in games when the other team should have a shot to win b/c their opponent is off their game like FSU was against UM & UF, the Noles still end up blowing teams out 41-14 or 37-7. For comparison, #6 overall Oklahoma St came out flat against 4-8 West Virginia and lost by two scores. #8 South Carolina came out flat against a 5-7 Tennessee squad and never recovered. Plenty of underdogs beat better teams when they catch them on an off day. The point is, even when FSU has an off day they still end up beating the pants off teams.
