By the way: Surprised to hear Selvie got such a conservative grade. He was on my "yet to watch" list but I've been hearing good things. Do you have any idea why he graded out so low?

 

Boomer where do you get info on the returns and not declaring? I am shocked Selvie went back but I don't see him in the Fins plans anyway

I like the Gaines Adams Comparisons to George Selvie. Go back get bigger and stronger play well and get right back into that first round

 

I'm also surprised by Selvie's decision but I believe its the right one. I have to wonder if they will put him on a weight-gaining program at USF. Hopefully they teach him a few things over there as well.

Saddened that Thompson stays but I don't mind another year of watching him.

One last note; it sounds like the advisory committee has done a good job of keeping some in school.

Selvie and Laurinaitis are guys I think will truely struggle at the next level. I truley hope that Jerry Hughes declares. I do like Suh out of Nebraska as well but a true pass rusher is a major need. I think #26 is too high for Larry English. Sintim looks to be the pick if Hughes returns to TCU

 

What do you like about Suh? I don't know much about him. What makes you say its high for English?

 

I heard theyve been taking a bit of flak over the past few years for grading out to many to high. IE, they give 45 people a first round grade and another 40 a second. Looks like maybe they did a bit more homework this go around, which is good to hear.

I don't necessarily agree with their grades though. George Selvie getting a not before the third round grade is not right IMO. He has some work to do on his game but he's still a first rounder. On the flip side of this, they're trying to keep these young guys in school so I can see why they give him that grade.

Yeah, they could be doing any number of things. Talking extensively with NFL GMs/scouts and finding they are not high on him. Listening to draftnik buzz that had him falling a bit, or just simply overvaluing Seniors (who have to come out) over juniors.

Not a bad thing. Im always 50/50 on going back over coming out. I used to be highly on the go back train, but last few years ive completely reversed course. For instance, I think McCoy should definately come out. Do think Selive going back can be a good thing though.

 

Quite frankly, your evaluations don't make sense. Back in September, you had George Selvie as your top ranked guy in 2009. One month later, he was at #4. In November you had him drafted at #14. At the beginning of December, he was your #5 DE in the draft. By the end of December, you ranked him at #45 (quite a drop but still a high 2nd round pick) and now you think he will "truely struggle at the next level"?

As for Suh, he didn't make your 2 round mockdraft in November. By early December, you had at least 9 DTs ranked ahead of him. And then, all of a sudden, he's right at #24 overall 30 days later.

 

Maybe he's a huge Johnny Cash fan and likes the prospect of having a boy named Suh on the team?

 

If the man can play, I'd take him at 26 lol.

I thought Selvie was a guy who would be able to get some playing time as situational passrusher but lets be honest, without him gaining some muscle thats all he'd be his first couple of years.
