Ireland will be doing an interview on Mike and Mike at 8am EST.
It is interesting to see this regime transition from 'hush hush' to some semblance of transparency.

There's also an interview with Ireland and Big Dog on WQAM. It's on their homepage on the right side.
"Decided in the last few weeks he was the guy we would take if he was there".
"Felt like he was a 1st rounder based on 6 or 7 games from his junior year".Fin D likes this. -
Nothing really...boring interview.
But all signs point to Ireland basically going "all in" with his career with Ryan. He's talking like this is who he has wanted since 2010, so while now he is playing the smartest guy in the room role....ultimately he will live and die with this pick.
Also when asked who he was targeting in rd 2, he said " guys who can score TDs, sack the QB, and cover WRs" so looking like we are targeting those positions wich is good.
I'll take Vinny Curry please. -

Ireland says that getting Tannehill was ideal even though they signed Garrard and still had Matt Moore on the roster.
Says Ross didn't put any pressure on football staff to take any one player. I guess that's some semblance of clarification. -
Agree, I'm excited about Ryan...he needs to make smarter decisions with the football but that's to be expected with a guy who has so few starts.
-
Says Dolphins are looking for "guys who can score touchdowns, sack the quarterback, and cover receivers" in the rest of the Draft.
That's about all I've taken from the interview, but IMO, more revealing than the typical post-pick presser from Ireland. -
Drafted Dan Marino 29 years to the day of the Tannehill selection according to Mike & Mike. That's interesting.
On the Joe Rose show, Ireland hints that if Tannehill had a few more games on tape at quarterback, he thinks most everyone would've considered him "in the same breath as Robert Griffin III and maybe Luck". Sounds like Luck, RGIII, and Tannehill were his 1-2-3 ranked quarterbacks. -

I wonder if Janoris Jenkins, if he's even on Ireland's board, would be considered. -

One last snippet from the Joe Rose interview was Ireland being asked about Cam Wake's situation. Ireland's exact response:

He's gonna go WR/DE in rounds 2 and 3. The good thing is those rounds are LOADED at those positions. I mean, Fleener, Hill, Jeffrey, Broyles all still on the board. Then you have guys like Sanu, who has a lot of upside, still there as well. I'd pass on Jenkins before the 3rd round, honestly. I don't his talent makes up for his off the field problems, unless you wanna take him later.

I was watching NFL network and they asked Jeff Ireland (I think yesterday) if Tannehill will start day one, and the gist of it was that they will work with him, but he didn't draft a qb at 8 to be a backup. So there is a chance he may be our new qb if he wins out the spot from game 1.

Or by the end of the season so as to get some seasoning heading into next year. Something like the last 4 games or so, that may not seem like much but it is a nice little start just to get him some experience or roughly 120 or so throws during that time. That enough film to have things to work on heading into the next year.

I would rather get a pass rusher or a wide receiver.texanphinatic and Paul 13 like this. -

Right now this team is short 3-4 OL for camp so I expect a double dip during the draft and then a couple picked up undrafted. -

Jerry weighs 328 and showed he can play the right tackle position last season. -

Considering Mike Sherman had no player over 320 and Philbin only had 1 player over 320 (non starter). Also the way Philbin is harping on and on about the OL needing to be more athletic, I feel pretty good with the prediction. Especially since he was on the bubble of being cut last offseason.
