what does this entail?
-
If Celtkin allows me, I'll be running it again with Saint Greg... I sent him a PM a little while ago (honestly before I seen this message)...
I just got done talking to Clumpy too and I FINALLY have the link to all the base salaries of NFL players...
Don't worry gish, the "gish/Paul 13" rivalry can continue... :wink2:GISH likes this. -
Basically here's how this works... You pick an NFL team (usually give a top 5 list) and I would try to give everyone a team in their top five list. I would usually let seasoned veterans have first dibs.
You would have a team page which would consist of something of this format:
Miami Dolphins
Quarterback
Chad Pennington, QB, Priceless
From there we would have a salary cap and you would have to have a 53 man roster while staying under the cap. We would have a month or so for players to have trades. Veterans would own newbies within the first couple days, but those newbies would soon catch on.
After that there is another month of free agency, which is in a bidding format. Basically you bid on a player and if no one ups the bid in 24 hours, the player is yours.
Then comes the fun part... The SEVEN ROUND draft. This does get completed, it's not ThePhins.com Poster Draft where I let things slide... Usually the 7 round draft is done within 2-3 weeks.
After that, we give people time to make their final cuts, final trades, final roster signings, etc... From there they submit a final roster where they can give information on why they felt they improved the team and what not. Everyone gets to vote for the top three and it's a voting system from there.. It's a fun way to pass the offseason that I enjoy putting on.
I'll submit the final roster of schisno's Miami Dolphins from the GM League this past year.. Just to see what people think of what he did and Jeff Ireland have in common. -
Schisno's Final Roster for the Dolphins:

As you guys can tell, it's not exactly super realistic as a lot of trades go down... But it's still a super fun way to pass the time in the offseason.. -
I'm down again.
-
I would like to go this yr...but someone needs to direct me to the rules, etc. But I would love to do it as well.

Are you starting this comp. over here? And when is this going to happen? And since you have the stroke of a wet paper towel around here, who's in charge of it? :wink2:

and I'm in charge of it.
That's right, I own you...

Ugh I want to but it demands so much.

I still think the Browns would have won more games with me as their Gm this year than with Phil Savage.
I would have given them Matt Ryan, Michael Turner, Vernon Davis, Donald Thomas, Vernon Gholston, Jacob Hester, Marcus Howard, Ahtyba Rubin, and Kenny Iwebema. All made possible by trading away overrated players on an underperforming defense.
My draft was primo!!!!!
2(1) Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
6(1) Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State
17(1) Jamaal Charles, RB, Texas
97(4) Marcus Howard, OLB, Georgia
110(4) Ahtyba Rubin, NT, Iowa State
139(5) Donald Thomas, OG, Connecticut
144(5) Jacob Hester, FB, Louisiana State
167(6) Kenny Iwebema, DE, Iowa
190(6) Evan Moore, WR, Stanford
216(7) Thaddeus Coleman, OT, Mississippi Valley State
I'd really like to know if Miami has given consideration to signing Thaddues Coleman to their practice squad. The man is absolutely massive. He signed with Arizona after the draft, and then was signed by the Jets. Now he is playing for the Edmonton Eskimos in the CFL. With our lack of depth at tackle, we could definitely use a dude like him. -
And Vernon Gholston? I wouldn't brag about drafting him. :wink2:Straz likes this. -
explain this like you would a ****** (so i can understand) and i will probably be game!
-
The draft was probably the best part of it all IMO. It will take quite a bit of time but if your on ThePhins for a good portion for the week and love football go for it.
I'll probably do it but I need to know when it starts because I'm going on vacation in the middle of January then I'm packing and moving. -
I guess I can go for it depending on how my schedule will be (February and March may be iffy). Hopefully I get a team that's better than just the Chiefs. As long as Griddles isn't the Commish anymore.....j/k
-
-
Sounds like this could be really fun ... I just don't know if I have the schedule to allow for it. I'd be interested in giving it a shot, or maybe being a co-GM with someone else.

I'll do it.

I would ABSOLUTELY like to do this again. Phinzone from 'that other site"...tied Rookie GM of the year...aka the guy who brought AD, Hester, Roy Williams, Kellen Winslow, David Harris, and Brandon Flowers to NE.

What time will it start up?

What exactly is this GM league you all speak of... :pity:

-
-
-
-
How is Alen not signing up for this??
-
-
come on you lazy ****ers, who else is returning?
GIK, do you have a list of last years GMs? I wonder how many were lost in transition. -
-
I know it's brutal, but c'mon...
There's a couple regulars that will be coming when it starts up, schisno, Sancho, and a few others...
If you guys know of anyone that's interested (even rival fans), feel free to say something to them... Sure we'll find a way to fill up (we always do), but if you guys know anyone that really would want to do this... just brag it up... -

Maybe we can include head coaches and assistants in the mix? Maybe release/sign/trade em just like players (ala Jon Gruden).
