Ok I have had a couple hours to cool off.
I am still depressed.
The oline sucks, the rbs suck. Tannehill is young and is carrying this offense.
Tannehill:
Clearly he has shown he needs growth, but has also shown alot of growth, enough that IMO he will continue to grow but how fast depends on the help he gets. If he continues to take 6 sack plus how many other pressures/hits, he will be broke all over the place. The other risk is desparation feeling like he has to do too much. I want to address issues. 1 he holds teh ball too long - yes he does at times, but can you say you would always get rid of it at the right time? If teh offense is struggling and he always counts to 2.5 in his head and throws it away will you then complain he gets rid of it to soon? its a balance and he will take some sacks but he will make plays also.
defense needs to get healthy period. the dbs are a mess way to off receivers. way too may yards.
Hopefully the team heals over the bye week

You said it, bud. It's beginning to look like teams have figured us out since the first three games.
-
Is it just me that is frustrated that we ran the ball a total of 9 times... I mean you have to mix it up some to keep the defense honest.
Personally I hated the play calling of the game, you can't run the ball 9 times a game and expect to be successful in the NFL, unless you are Peyton/Brees. -
This made me burst into laughter -
Gotta work on consistency on offense. We do make some good plays, but we are inconsistent across the board. This includes everyone except the running backs.
I am not sure this running back squad can be saved. -
What's really frustrating about it is that when Tannehill gets decent time, he tears defenses apart. The receivers get open and we move the ball.
This bye week needs to be about 2 things. Getting healthy and fixing the offensive line. Getting a decent running game would be huge for Tannehill and the pass protection. I don't know what's going to happen, but there should definitely be some shakeups.Hobiesailor likes this. -
NFL Network is reporting Ireland has signed Kieth Sims to a 2 Year 16 million dollar contract and Richmond Webb to a 1 year 8 million dollar contract. Problem has been solved. Don Shula is also coming in to consult. There are also reports Troy Vincent is interested in coming back for the right price. The ship is turning around folks.

Hopefully this one play triggers his awareness button so we don't have to wait five more games to see it..MikeHoncho and OkiePhin like this. -

How about practicing the ole QB sneak?

When the guys head explodes is how I feel when discussing this theory that were constricting Him to the pocket.
Maybe it's a coaching/Qb progression relative to teaching the position, and that's what kind of offense they want to be run..to not be multiple...
I mean if you look at new England's offense that's about as exclusive to the pocket as it gets. -

Unfortunately, I don't see much that can be done to sole the o-line issue.
We have 3 guys starting who simply are not goo enough to be starters in the NFL right now in Martin/Jerry and Clabo. Forget scheme, these guys are just getting physically whipped and beaten 1 on 1 every game. I frankly put the o-line issues more on Ireland and the coaches.
I think the coaches need to let Tannehill loose a little more in the sense that he's got get out of the pocket. He's a sitting duck back there right now. Roethlisberger thrived behind a bad o-line because he ahd full freedom to move around and had the strength to simply shrug off tacklers. Not sure RT has that same skill but he can definitely move. -
Bottom line, progression offense, requires great protection.. -
"F" the system. -
If you can't protect the Qb you can't run this system right?.i mean I'm not gonna pretend I know more than Sherm, the guy has been successful, but doesn't it make sense in this case?schmolioot likes this. -
I'm hoping Philbin has something in the binder that can answer what is going on with the o-line

There're other times where he could do it, but there's a whole lot of times, there's pressure coming from the ends and up the middle, and there's just nowhere to go. He tries to slip thru little gaps in the middle, but so far has been unsuccessful. While I think he's really good at throwing on the run, as a whole, I don't want him taking off and cutting the field in half at the first sign of pressure. If/when our line is better, I want him standing in and going through his progressions.
I agree it's frustrating taking the sacks. But I think it's a fine line of when to take off/when not to. Tannehill should probably throw the ball away a bit more, too. Of course, if/when he does, he may as well be ready for questions about his accuracy, because that'll be a lot more incompletions if he does it to avoid sacks he's likely to take.
As a whole, I think Tannehill is doing pretty darned well, given we don't have a running game, our receivers drop a lot of passes, our backs don't catch many but don't protect well, either, and the offensive line is leaky at best. The whole offense is on a guy who is learning as he goes. Let me repeat that - Tannehill is our offense right now. It's a lot to put on him, but so far I think he's handling it pretty well - all things considered. -
Rolling left rolling right, which is something he can do equally effective may cut off one side of the field when he does, but if used strategically in can stretch the minds of the defense and make them have to think about covering different areas of the field..why can't it be about misdirection and keeping a defense guessing while utilizing some of your strengths of your Qb and mimimilizing some of your weaknesses in your oline.
I too think there is a fine line that Tannehill and all of us here are trying to figure out when projecting his ceiling..
So when I read your post again runner, I'm thinking that you want him to continue to hang in there regardless of what kind of pressure his oline is putting him under?
