MATT MOORE LIVES! Soul Patch FTW.
Who do we bring in to fill Garrard's place on the 53?

David Garrard released

So @JayGlazer reports Garrard has been released by Dolphins. 52 now on active roster (three QBs).Bpk likes this. -

Makes sense. Owed him more than $2 mill and not sure if he's healthy.
We need DB depth badly -
Ball so Garrard.

After we trade Moore, we can pick up anyone (including Garrard) off the wire to fill the hat on backwards role.

I've been speculating for a while that the Dolphins did not want to release Garrard until he was fully healthy and practicing so that they could avoid an injury settlement. That would be why you don't necessarily cut Garrard on cutdown date, but you do still cut him prior to Saturday at 4pm so that you don't have to guarantee his full 2012 salary.
I imagine they will keep his number on speed dial after Week 1 though, provided he doesn't sign elsewhere.Zanno, SICK, Bpk and 1 other person like this. -
This has the smell of us claiming DVD, imo.
-
I reckon we sign that DB from the U Oakland waived to fill his spot on the 53.
-
-
We'd have to win the waiver claim.

He'll be re-signed once Meht Moore is dumped.
-
Post Week2 signings and contracts arent guaranteed I believe....
-
He'll be about 1 Million in Dead Cap.
That's 15 Million now in Dead Cap for this season, if you're scoring at home. But hey, 2013! -
I wonder if this was precipitated by Garrard's going on record with the press about wanting to know what's going on and not having heard anything.
-
of course...this is the guy that Ireland hand picked to keep the seat warm for Tannehill.
When Ireland is not being flat out bad, he is being very unlucky. -
Didnt Ireland also sign Moore?? Hard to say who the seat warmer was, the point is, one is not needed any longer (both really, hahaa)
-
16.5 actually.
And Vontae's counts for next year too! -
reading this comments it seems like some of you think we are the only team that carries dead cap space around...
-
If we also had "living" cap space with GOOD football players, it wouldnt be as big an issue I am willing to bet :lol:HardKoreXXX likes this.

we are one of few that carry so much of it around while it's fans wear paper bags on their heads.SICK and Vinny Fins like this.
-
Are said teams as bereft of talent as this one?

Barring a trade for a wr or safety
I vote we poach a WR from another PS
Chris Owusu ( was giving the 49ers 1s a rough time in camp. Had 3 concussions his last year in college but he can seperate and has been making plays. )
Andy Tanner (looked good in preseason but hurt his ankle. Was expected to make saints roster until his injury )
Lamont Bryant ( This guy is a beast 6'5, 43' vert, 4.39 speed, Plays TE and WR ) -
ProFootballTalk @ProFootballTalk
DeMarcus Van Dyke, the fastest man at the Scouting Combine and a third-round pick of the Raiders, has cleared waivers.
-
Don't the Dolphins already have 6 WRs?
Can't see why they'd keep 7 WRs on roster, many of whom just aren't all that good.
They still seem low to me on DBs. They only have 8 of them I think. -
Ben Volin says the Dolphins did not negotiate an injury settlement with David Garrard. Again I believe this is why he was not cut during normal cut downs. He wasn't healthy enough to cut yet. They needed to get him in practice and show that he can move around and is not hurt anymore, otherwise they've got to negotiate an injury settlement.
I do imagine they'll keep his number on speed dial after Week 1 like they did Will Allen a year ago.
