To summarize, he said that he respects the job Ross has done, and loves his approach and vision about the stadium, says Miami needs to pass the bill, that there's to much competition now, he said and I quote, everyone wants to go to Miami for the Super Bowl, BUT, there is too much competition now.".. Interpretation, either pass the the bill or you get nothing..
Your move Miami..do you wanna play with the big boy markets, or do you want to let your culture continue to deteriorate, and continue to play in the worst venue in football, do you have the patience and vision to do the math on missing out on world class events and superbowls, or are you gonna blame the marlins and make a bad investment choice for your city...think big picture.
The city will make their 200 mill back, and much more..it's healthy for the city's perception, healthy from a world perspective, healthy for the economy, and extremely healthy for our culture..Our owner is a good owner, if you don't pass it, I'm sure he will cover you, but man is that a shot into this football culture, don't complain when the Peyton mannings of the world snub you when the time comes.

I don't think it needed to be said. This isn't anything that Ross & Co. were unaware of.

You campaigning here will have minimal, if not zero impact. Most here will favor it already. If you want to make an impact with your campaigning... do it in a place where there is a decent amount of opposition.
Here it is just wasted time/energy...oakelmpine and djphinfan like this. -

Look what happened here in San Diego. The two super bowls we've hosted here were excellent. Sunny warm days. But alas, none the last decade.
Can't say anything about Miami, but San Diego's stadium is pretty crappy.SanDiegoDolfan likes this. -
SD is a good example of a perfect location losing out on SBs because of a less competitive stadium.rafael, Stitches, djphinfan and 1 other person like this. -
The new Marlins stadium was called a visionary world class facility. MLB just awarded the 2015 all-star game to Cincinnati over Miami. : /
People aren't gonna vote for this after what the Marlins just did. Stephen Ross has the money, so he can pay for it himself.finfansince72 and oakelmpine like this. -

I've only been to a few football stadiums to compare, but what I can say about our stadium (IMO) is that it is very average. I do really like the architecture and colors inside and out, but it doesn't have the feel of a great stadium. I can't put my finger on it, but even when the fans have been into the game, it wasn't exactly a Lambeau atmosphere. I think it's a few, relatively minor changes away from being great. Not sharing it with the Marlins (as was the case the last time I was in town) was a huge plus. In that era, I'd put us bottom 5 without a doubt. I hated having the diamond on the field--especially when it rained. -

Minny was horrible. It is a bad version of an indoor Orange Bowl with a caving roof. Cleveland's stadium sucks almost as bad as the city. That's just two I have visited over the last couple of years. We have to be in the middle of the pack somewhere if we are going to be realistic about the crappiness of our stadium compared to the rest.

Wow I did not know Peyton Manning, Harbaugh, and fisher snubbed us becaust they all have nicer stadiums. Thanks for explaining how people should make a bad investment with thier money in order to attract those type of guys here. I'll bet if Miami had announced it was building a new stadium prior to last years draft, Andrew Luck would of demanded that the Colts sent him to Miami or he would just sit out for a year.

There is very little evidence to support that public funding for private stadiums has these positive effects on local tourism, guys.

Not to mention the that, combined with the Marlins situation (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=jp-marlinsfinancials082410) I'd totally understand people saying no. The NFL, for what it is, is a complete scam. Not for profit organization that holds cities hostage for subsidies while making false claims about economic growth.
For every away game you earn that extra money from the visitor tax, you are losing 2 weekends of visitors who go to similar destinations, just because the cost is greater now to come to Miami. That hurts tourism. That hurts the city. These are all great reads. Now, it's not to say that it's 100% against building new stadiums with taxpayer funding... but don't do it under the false claim of "It'll improve business and tourism and we'll make our money back in no time!"

I mean if it doesn't get passed and Ross decides not to do anything, the losses will be huge...it simply makes sense if you take the guard down. -

-
That being said, I support the stadium renovations via tax dollars, because Im okay with pitching in a few bucks of my own to have it... simply for pride and quality of life, to reference the previously mentioned article.

Goodell is a moron if he doesnt brng the superbowl back here. Enjoy Jersey in ice-*** cold February.
Hell he is a moron regardless, he'll be ousted soon enough.

He will also spend the Super Bowl in a luxury suite nicer than any in South Florida. Won't be cold for him.Stitches likes this. -
