Yeah, you're lucky. When the twilight books came out and picked the vampire family last name of "cullen" the worst conversations imagineable were started and havent stopped anytime I give a business card, show my ID, or someone sees my name plate in my office.

Just finished Season 3. Episode 9 completely threw me! Can't wait for the new season, as I actually have HBO now, and don't need to wait for it to come to video.

They're publishing - Ice and Fire: The Untold History of the World of A Game of Thrones - this October. Amazon sent me an email a few weeks ago about a new George Martin book being published this year. Naturally I thought it would be Winds of Winter... what a tease. I appreciate that it takes a long time to write a story of this caliber and scale but come on...

I'm not as crazy as some other fans . I don't care about the show spoiling the books. I think the work will suffer though. And I think the show will influence Martin in some way when he hasn't finished the books

So the show will end before the book series... Interesting. I wonder if they'll have the same ending? Since the show refuses to address Prince Rhaegar's role in the books, perhaps the producers are going to have an alternate ending of sorts. Or perhaps a limited ending... Without all the extras and details and just dive into the meat and potatoes?

Unless Martin doesn't give a **** that his series will be concluded before the books. Hell, at this point, it might take some pressure off of him to finish the series. To be fair, while the books are great, the TV series is the real cash cow and have juiced up his book sales anyway. Frankly, the show should come first at this point.

George RR Martin has spoken to the producers about the ending and revealed what happens, so I presume the series and book will end pretty much the same. The getting there in the last book and last season might be different though...

I suppose that anything but Danaerys on the Iron Throne would be an upset, given how Martin took away pretty much the whole family for whom we were set up to root from the start.
