Gran Tourismo 5.....delayed....again

If it’s delayed 3 weeks from release then it’s probably a showstopper bug. Don’t worry about it.

No, Nov 2nd was the first time they ever announced as an official release date. This is technically the 1st delay.

stupid question Pete.....can you play 3-D games on a non 3-D TV....for instance are they going to start making just 3-D only games or will they be formatted to adjust to non-3D depending on the TV....?

They won't really make 3D only games for any foreseeable future. They would never shut out the majority.

A few tidbits on this game........

-Over 1,000 cars

-Night Driving (YES!)

-Weather Effects (Look FANTASTIC)

-Track Editor...now, this isn't a build-from-scratch track editor..but you'll get to pick a scene and tell it to generate certain types of tracks at certain portions. They deemed the build it from scratch option too complicated.

-Car Damage (FINALLY)
Now, this one takes some discussing however..there's a lot of misinformation going around. There are 1000+ cars in the game...but of those 1,000 only 200 will be "premium" cars. I take this to mean that these are the cars that have been built from scratch (many of the cars seem to be updated from previous versions....not that I car, just sayin)

There are 3 levels of damage
1. Performance damage...ALL cars will take this
2. Dirt, Scratches, Dents....ALL cars will take this damage
3. Dislodging/deformation of panels...ONLY premium cars will take this kind of damage

This game is a HUGE undertaking, and I think it is unreasonable to assume that they could put deformations in for 1,000 cars. So as it stands damage is in the game and WILL affect your driving across all types of cars.....but just the premium cars will have big dents and flying parts.

Supposedly the game was shipping with FW 3.41, and Sony wanted to be sure anyone who got it got FW 3.50. While this only delays the game by a week (max) as far as programming goes, the manufacturing delay could be much longer due to slots already being filled by other media/software.

I havent bought a racing game since the last one...I might have to buy this one though....

Me thinks alot of car damage might occur for a few days....

The newer ones wont be much good however unless someone comes up with a way of decrypting games built on SDK 3.42 an higher. Sony implemented new keys for games on 3.42 and up so the current hacked 3.41 systems couldn't decrypt them.

We just asked Kazunori Yamauchi, the father of Gran Turismo, in an interview here at SEMA, the question on everyone's minds — when will GT5 finally be released? His response: "The discs are being stamped as we speak."

The picture above is Kazunori making a disc-stamping motion with his hands as he answered our query on the ever-shifting release date. We did talk about a number of different topics other than the release — and we'll have more coming shortly — but for the moment, we thought we'd at least bring you that response.
