What is 311 Day? I do know the band 311 was a known white supremicist group and that the 311 represented the 11th letter of the alphabet which was 3 "Ks". This isnt related I hope.

Bands influenced by KISS: Far too many to list.
Bands influenced by Springsteen: Bon Jovi, John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band.
KISS FTW. :lol:opfinistic likes this. -
I warned him.
-
Springsteen was around way before Bon Jovi was.
And KISS couldn't hold a candle to the talent and on-stage performance of Bruce. -
Not dissing Bruce. I actually have nothing against him, but I wouldn't go as far as comparing his "talent" to anyone. He's a great songwriter, but a marginal guitarist at best.
And to be QUITE honest, Springsteen is a rip-off. Nothing about his songwriting or music in general is his. It was all pretty much copied from Southside Johnny.
Bruce should be sending him royalty checks every month! :tongue2:opfinistic and Big E like this. -
And what the hell do you mean he's a rip-off? I've never listened to Southside Johnny and this is the first time I've heard the comparison. -
In fact...Bruce, Little Steven, and Jon Bon Jovi have all appeared onstage in clubs with Southside on occasion.
They're ALL influenced by him. -
That doesn't change the fact that Springsteen is a a phenomenal song writer and the band is amazing musically. -
You come from Jersey, you should know that the Asbury Jukes music and Bruce's are incredibly similar.
And yes, they're all very good musicians, but you're reaching when you say "amazing".
IMO, amazing is someone like Jaco Pastorius or Billy Cobbham. Someone who makes you go "WHOA!" when you hear them play.
Even though I enjoy Bruce's music, I've never gone "WHOA!" at anything him or anyone in his band has played. It's good music, definitely. Amazing?
Nuh uh. -

First acheived prominence in the mid-70's, bro.
he was around in the clubs before then. I guess Bruce paid him back for the influence by helping with the first album. :wink2:
I've been told by more than a few that Johnny was the originator.Rocky Raccoon likes this. -
Mods please rename this "the no one really cares about 311, lets debate Jersey artists" thread.

I am just trying to learn about Southside. He seems like an artist I'd really like if him and Bruce have similar sounds.
Bruce was around in the clubs before his first album came out in 1973 as well...maybe you DO have it backwards :shifty:
