padre31luxury_boxOPThis feels just like last night all over again, but just switch the Dolphins for the 49ers as the day’s leading Jim Harbaugh contenders who apparently didn’t close the deal.
It’s getting increasingly evident that it is not so easy to close a deal with Harbaugh, by the way. (Ask Michigan, too.)
The nuggets, quickly:
* The eagerly-chased Stanford coach met with Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and GM Jeff Ireland in the Bay Area today, but Ross flew to the LA area in the afternoon, apparently for previously scheduled meetings.
Multiple NFL sources said that no deal had been struck with Harbaugh, despite the reports that Ross was set to offer Harbaugh more than $7M a year.
* The talks with the Dolphins are believed to be ongoing. But Ross’ departure without a signed deal is apparently due to more than the Dolphins’ need to satisfy the Rooney Rule by interviewing a minority candidate. And firing Tony Sparano.
Several NFL sources indicate that Harbaugh is not comfortable so far with the Miami situation and that all the other bidding teams are still in play–the 49ers, Denver (which has yet to meet with him formally) and… even Stanford.
As with the 49ers last night, have the Dolphins been given the shot to land Harbaugh… and blown it? What happens now?
With Harbaugh, any firm prediction is impossible, of course. But I think it’s safe to say that Michigan, then the 49ers, then Miami all had face-off chances to get him, and now each has not gotten him.
* One source who knows Harbaugh said that he is believed to be seriously weighing a return to Stanford with Andrew Luck for the 2011 season (a potential NFL lock-out season), then both could jump to the NFL the following year.

You know, it makes sense logically speaking. Source told me they would interview Hue Jackson while they were out there. Rooney Rule satisfied. Sparano packs bags/boxes. Done. They fly to LA to sign the contract and thereafter fly to FL to make the announcement tomorrow. Other plane stays in San Jose for Harbaugh's wife and kids to use later.
In case you are wondering, yes it was the same plane that flew from San Jose to LA and LA to FL (set to arrive at 1:23am EST)

One way or another I suspect this is resolved by Saturday. If Harbaugh is contemplating staying at Stanford he better make that clear soon as recruiting is in the hot stage right now

Is this sarcasm because Harbaugh has been anything but low key since we have met with him today.
Dorfdadforum_veteranI dunno I thin Harbaugh is burning some bridges. Everyone sees he is playing a game looking for the most money out there. Granted he can do that but playing everyone off each other is pure ****. Either you want a chance to be an NFL coach in Miami or you don't!
Tin Indianforum_veteranI really don't care anymore. This has been a circus from the beginning of the week and I am over it. It isn't the duration of the search, just the ineptitude of the searchers. How do 3 highly successful people botch this weeks events so badly. I am fearful of things ahead.

I think this is a huge reach.
Whats great is that i was told my posts were to be laughed at when i called that something like this would happen. Ross put himself in a bad spot.
fragsNew MemberI heard from another forum that that stop in Bob Hope Airport was to interview Hue Jackson. Burbank, CA is 16mins from LA and it is reportedly where Hue Jackson resides.

Someone also mentioned on another forum that there is a hotel right near the Bob Hope Airport and corporate/private aircraft usually do not fly out of Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, CA, but rather a different airport.
