Just simple thought excercise here. How many teams have their guy for the next 5+ years at the two most important positions (QB and HC)?
QB
AFCE:
Bills, Dolphins: Yes
Jets, Patriots: No
AFCN:
Ravens, Bengals: Yes
Browns: contractually?? BUT
Steelers: dont think so
AFCS:
Jags, Texans: Yes
Titans, Colts: Possibly?
AFCW:
Chiefs, Chargers: Yes
Broncos: contractually but unsure hes got 5 good years left.
Raiders: No
—-
NFCE:
Cowboys, Eagles: yes
Giants: No
Commanders: probably no
NFCN:
Lions: Yes
Vikings: no (Kirk UFA)
Packers: maybe
Bears: no
NFCS:
Bucs, Saints, Falcons: no
Panthers probably no
NFCW:
Niners: Yes
Cards, Rams, Hawks: no
Any of these you disagree with? Thats a lot of the league thats not all in on their signal-caller.
Only 12/32 teams can say yeah, this can be our guy at the most important position for the next half decade.
6 or so maybes can convince yourself, possibly. 3 teams that are contractually locked in so they have the guy whether hes the guy or not.
Lotta clear NOs though. Possibly more than usual. Many teams could be QB hunting this offseason!
In regards to HC:
AFCE:
Dolphins: Yes
Bills: Maybe. Has he overstayed welcome?
Jets: probably not
Pats: he’s gone
AFCN:
Bengals, Ravens, Browns: Yes
Steelers: are they gonna scapegoat Tomlin?
AFCS:
Texans, Colts: maybe!
Jags: Yes
Titans: Might be past expiration date
AFCW:
Broncos, Chiefs: Yes
Raiders: Maybe
Chargers: LOLCOW
___
NFCE:
Eagles, Giants: Yes
Cowboys, Commies: No
NFCN:
Lions, Packers: Yes
Bears: No
Vikings: Maybe
NFCS:
All: No
NFCW:
Niners, Rams: Yes
Hawks: how much longer pete got in him?
Arizona: i do not think so
——
How many teams have both?
NFC 3 Yes, 1 Maybe.
AFC: 5 Yes, 2 maybe.
Not a lot.
Honestly, best spot this org has been in in a while. Stability at the key spots. Crazy. Relish it. Been a long time.

Yup, and add the GM to that too. It's important that the GM and HC are on the same page and not trying to build different types of teams. Grier has built the Dolphins into a winner. Aside from HC and QB, we also have our DC (not sure for how long, but Fangio has seen first hand he's not good HC material so maybe he stays), and much of our roster is built.
Our weaknesses are also nowhere near as severe as they used to be: OL is still weak, it would be nice to have a good TE and LB as well as a good backup QB (we will need that someday), but otherwise this team is set for now. We're legitimately top 5 in the league today. Just have to win the SB. Can't count on good times lasting — just ask Marino.danmarino and Csonka Marino like this. -
I have to disagree with the Bengals HC,I didn’t rate him while he was here and the only thing he’s done of note as Bengals HC was to cripple the team so badly they had the #1 draft pick when Joe Burrow came out.
As for the Dolphins the only thing I see holding the team back is inconsistency. When our D and O both show up to play full games like they did against the Jets I can see us having a true dynastydolphin25 likes this. -

Aaron Rodgers was with the Packers for a number of years, as was Favre. Between the two of them they each have 1 Super Bowl championship and spent the remainder of their year with the Packers chasing that elusive title that never came.
I wonder, what would other teams in the league had been willing to give up to get Favre or Rodgers say 2 or 3 years after their Super Bowls? What would teams have been willing to give up to get Marino a few years after his failed Super Bowl bid?
Would it have benefited the Packers or the Dolphins to get a boat load of draft picks and or certain players in return?
Would it benefit the Chargers now or the Bengals now to shop Herbert or Glass Joe in the long run? Allen seems to have his ups and downs, this season being one of those downs in which the Bills are fighting for their playoffs life.
Sometimes I think teams get so dead set on their quarterbacks to the detriment of the rest of their team. Could this FINALLY be Prescott’s season in Dallas? And if not, does Jerry Jones finally shop Prescott as he never did Romo?
The Cardinals are in such dire straits and they held onto Murray for such a long time that he has no trade value to try and help their organization.
My point is I’m not sure what my point is other than hanging onto a quarterback for the sake of hanging onto him may do more harm to the team overall than good.
