Odd, I thought BM and Bess have been our best players on offense game in and game out, granted Bess is not a burner but he really is not meant to be one, that isn't his role, and BM has held to his career averages in terms of YPC.
That leaves Hartline, Fasano, and the running backs.
And of course Henne hitting next to no plays deep down the field..... -
what a joke! if Henning was the OC on a team that had speed, the offense would still suck! he needs to point the finger at himself. He's blaming every player on offense instead of blaming himself.

The next question for everyone else is why hasn't that been addressed?
For myself, the answer is "because Chad Henne takes the check down and has poor field vision and will not, or cannot throw the ball into tight windows, nor hit deep passing plays"Bpk likes this. -

Put it this way, how many passes have you, me, or anyone seen off of Chad Henne's hands that travel over 20 yds down the field?
Back shoulder throws, fades, things like this just are not thrown by Henne very often.adamprez2003 likes this. -
I hope sine we are out of the playoffs, then let Chad Henne have a field day. Let us see how he can really play without the coaches having to force him to play conservative. Im looking forward to it. But knowing this team...we'll still be playing for FGs :( -

The thing is we needed speed prior to last off season , not a secret that was just revealed.
For some reason this management did not think it was enough of a priority to address the shortcoming properly. It goes back to needing to do so many things right to win , that you leave so little room for error .
To me this has Bill Parcell's finger prints all over it , to me it reeks of stubborness and a reluctance to adapt or realize the changing ways of this league.
How much Ireland differs from Parcell's blueprint I guess is the $64,000 off season question that Ross will give us his answer to shortly I imagine. -

I call bull**** on Henning. Our offense should have no problem opicking up chunk yardage. Seen way worse Dolphins offenses do more with less. This is clearly Henning trying to save face and his own reputation as an OC. I won't sit here and deny that we could use some more speedsters. But you don't need to have the fastest players to obtain big play offense. Ronnie hasn't had the run blocking he used to so his big plays have gone down. Plus they don't feed him the rock nearly enough. Bess and Marshall are some of the best WR's in the game at their positions. Hartline, one of the slowest has put up some of the biggest plays of the year. Convenient that Henning doesn't even mention Hartline.

If Henning truly believes that the problem is a lack of speedy players, then why didn’t he adjust his playcalling to compensate? Sure, he doesn’t call very many deep throws, but why call for intermediate passes if you don’t think the team has the speed to make them work?
Henning isn’t the only problem, but he definitely stands out as the leading problem.Bpk, Phins28, Stitches and 1 other person like this. -

That to me is a regime preference , again , I feel a lot of this is a typical Parcell's blue print , we have yet to really know if it is also an Ireland one.adamprez2003 likes this. -
On the last drive. Its 1st and 10 from the 20. 41 seconds to go, no timeouts remaining. Do we go 3, 4, 5 wide and stretch the field? No. We go base. 2 backs, 2 WRs, and Fasano. Lousaka Polite is in the game at FB for stupidity's sake. If you're a moron, you might think that using that personnel grouping in that situation is a good idea. But if you have even an ounce of common/football sense, you realize that you've done the defense a huge favor and basically guaranteed that we're not going to be able to throw down the field.
I'd love to hear Henning explain why he went to a 2-2-1 grouping with 41 seconds to go in the game. But he wont do that. He'll just blame Bess for not being fast enough, or Henne for whatever shortcoming he feels like spotlighting in that particular press conference. The guy calls IDIOTIC plays at the most inopportune times, and then goes in front of the microphone and bashes his players. It's disgusting.
There is NO WAY you can expect a QB to throw down field in that spot, with only one target (even Marshall is slow BTW) even capable of getting down field ahead of the pass rush. Any defense with a brain and a pulse is going to play over the top of BM, take him away, take away all of the deep passing windows, and force the ball to go underneath. And that's exactly what happened. Of course with no timeouts, there was no chance to change groupings after the pass to Bess. Not that Henning would have changed up, b/c if he's too dumb to spread the field on 1st down with 41 seconds to go, why would he suddenly wise up on 2nd down with 30 seconds to go? The guy is incompetent, plain and simple. Henne is no Brady to be sure, but to hear the OC come out and bash his players AGAIN, after what he did at the end of the game last week is an insult to not only the players, but an insult to the intelligence of anyone with a clue and a TV set.Dolfan330, Killer B's and dolfan22 like this. -

These people have no clue...ALL of a sudden the team doesn't have any speed
Last season we had 29 passes of 20 yards or more...31st in the NFL
This season we have 37 passes 20 yards or more...27 th this season
How many wide receivers with the speed to change these stats were drafted?
I'll tell you seven defensive players and 1 OFFENSIVE player...John Jerry
Brandon Marshall joined us but is he a deep threat?
The other 2 wide receivers that were signed as free agents have hardly played
31st rated in the NFL in passes 20 yards or more and NOTHING IS DONE TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM
Says a lot about Ireland,Parcells,Sparano, and Henning
Rushing last season we had 9 rushes of 20 yards or more 20th in the NFL
another poor showing and what have we done to solve that problem
How many offensive play makers with speed did we draft?
This season with Sparano's tinkering and Ireland buying the groceries
on the offensive line we are now 29th in the NFL with
ONLY 4 rushes 20 yards or more
Justin Forsett (WHO) has as many 20+ rushes as our entire OFFENSE
To say we don't have any speed on offense is not a REVELATION
it's a crime since these idiots have known this all last season and this season
AND HAVE DONE NOTHING ABOUT ITPhins28, eric, GMJohnson and 1 other person like this. -

Henne...will..not..throw..the..ball...down..the...field.
And when he does, he is not very accurate, that is exactly what the advance scout said in the other thread, so Henning has to call a check down/inside 15 yds passing game.
What Henning is basically saying is those same plays, tossed to Chris Johnson/Desean Jackson/whomever would create more explosive outcomes, but the guys we have are not those guys.
There are reasons why I am so down on Chad Henne, this is one of them we basically play a very simple offense which a catch and tackled quickly outcome.
