Hi im Debbie Downer and I wanted to speak to you today about the Dolphins.
I know you are are celebrating a tremendous win against a division rival and an elite team in the NFL, but lets not get crazy..
Enjoy the WIN it's been a long time since we opened any can of whoop-*** on anyone, but what we saw on sunday isn't likely to happen anytime soon again..
One week ago we were blasting this team, horrible offense, defense, special teams, we hardly put up points in any games this year and our defense looked worse than anytime in recent years..
This week some of you have us winning the superbowl... Call it whatever you like but this team still has a TON of holes that need to be filled.
We are not going to suddenly go on a 9 game win streak here, and while it was a great win it was just a win..(at least now we do not have to go through 14 more games praying for a win!) We can just relax and enjoy them.
Like I said im Debbie Downer, not because I want to ruin anyone's fun but because I sense people getting some lofty exploitations from this win...
Progress takes two steps forward and one step backwards...
Enjoy the season, expect nothing and be pleasantly surprised!

Leave my fantasy world alone, I understand reality but I am enjoying my Fins to win the super bowl dream.

Your the only one I saw mention the word SuperBowl in a thread?
I think we are happy that we won, and even happier that it was against the Patriots. We are happy that a dinosaur of a coach in Dan Henning listened to one of his coaches and threw some stuff that Billy B that he never in his wildest dreams would have thought a Henning offense would do.
In fact I don't think I have seen anyone even mention playoffs?
Off the bye we play a real tough offense and I would not be surprised if we lost.
But for these two weeks, I'm going to enjoy it!finsgirlie, Brown42000, azfinfanmang and 9 others like this. -

This was a huge win and we should all ride the wave baby!! No doubt our first game back after the bye is huge and most would say probably not a win. Most said that against New England also. What Monday showed is that if we execute, play solid football, and continue to be inventive we can beat anybody. No, I don't think we are going to the Superbowl, but this win does give me hope for at least 2 weeks. After San Diego we have Houston who always gives us fits but I watched them play against the Titans and they are not a good football team. If we surprise San Diego things can get pretty interesting around here!!

My season is complete. If we go 1-15 again I will be happy cause we ***** slapped the Pats in The House That Bob Built

The season long positive from this is Ricky went for 100yds and Ronnie's knee is 100%.
Anthony Fasano has given us the best three games out of a Te that we've seen in miami since Eric Green before he decided that partying was better then playing football, he might be our best Te since the immortal..Ferrel Edmunds..
13 games to go and our three best offensive weapons are showing us who they are, and Greg C has been playing well as a starter for us...no one saw that coming.
And best of all...we are healthy and besides the Bills, everyone else in our division is playing like cow flop...azfinfanmang and Vengeful Odin like this. -

Hey, Debbie...send us pix...
Good point though... As nice a win as it was, you can break down the game and see that there are some holes in it...first off, our return teams were again embarrassing. Second, the D struggled with pressure at times and allowed them to drive the field more than once (and especially since they are the Brady-less Pats). Our secondary needs to work on the tip drill and catching the ball as two or three sure interceptions went thru their hands. The OL struggled to open holes at times for Ronnie and Ricky, although they certainly atoned for that at other times.
So the team is not out of the woods. We still have less talent than most teams and we still have 13 more games to go...oh, and BTW, we're still in the cellar of the AFCE... -
-
However, anything can happen. I refuse to put games in the loss column before they are even played. Dolphins could go on a nine game winning streak. Who am I to say that it will not happen. Probable........NO! Possible.......ABSOLUTELY!
I do like that you are trying to put everyone's feet back on the ground. The last thing I want to see is a bunch of us running around screaming we are going to the SB when we are still a rebuilding team.
I say don't set yourself for disappointment but don't discredit a team that definitely has a fire in it's belly right now. -
I have to say I haven't seen anyone talking Super Bowl or Playoffs after this one game either. If someone mentioned Super Bowl they need their head examined.
Really no need for this thread.
No reason to be a downer at all.
We beat the Pats in N.E., ended their reg. season winning streak and crushed the dream of every Patsie fan that believed they'd have another regular season undefeated mark.
We know the reality of the struggles this team will continue to have this year.
That dosen't take anything away from the joy we should all revel in from the absolute pounding the Phins game the Pasties this weekend.Brown42000, MelbournePhin and azfinfanmang like this. -
The problem with this thread is that it's trying to reign people in from expectations that nobody has expressed. My prediction before the season was that this team would take time to gel but would come together enough by mid-season to be in the playoff conversation for a bit before missing out. My expectations haven't changed.

Hope is the fuel that keeps long suffering finfans going and this Sunday the Hope tank was refueled.
Sure we all feel hopeful but thats a long way off from talking about the playoffs let alone the SB.Larryfinfan likes this. -
Why should anyone care what my hopes and expectations are, they are mine just like everyone else's are their's? I am not having delusions of grandeur having thoughts of Superbowls dancing in my head, but if so its about time we could have some hopes of a bright future.
I think we all know this team is in a rebuilding process but it may be closer than anyone thought. Thats not to expect the playoffs or even a winning season just that there has finally been a turnaround.
Yes, it was only a win, but a convincing win, a sit up and take notice NFL win. It was a dominating performance in more than one aspect and even though RB had a super effort with a record breaking performance, there was plenty of good to great play to be shared by most everybody.
Am I giddy with excitement? No I wouldn't go that far but I am very excited that we beat what some people thought was "the", or one of the elite teams in the NFL in a blow out on their home field. Our coaches outcoached what a lot of people consider the best coach in the NFL in his house. Go ahead Dolphin fans, be excited all you want and "believe", we have finally turned this trainwreck around!MelbournePhin likes this. -

much like the don't panic threads last week, a curb your enthusiasm thread just isn't really necessary on THIS site. Be it the main forum or the club level, majority of posters here treat this site the same, and a ridiculous % of posts are solid and realistic. other sites, i can definitely see your point in posting this.Larryfinfan likes this. -
Brother we have two games to watch the Chargers play. We have two more weeks for the offensive line, and the newly signed lineman to get in cohesion for the Chargers game. The Chargers are giving up right around 30 points a game. In these two weeks if our defense can continue to come together, I think we have a shot at going 5-11.

Another thread assuming things that don't exist and putting words in mouths. I haven't heard anyone on this board mention the superbowl.
That'd be pretty sweet though... -
Second, your initial post said SB and playoffs. Now you've dialed it down to 9-10 wins. What's next are you going to tell people they shouldn't hope for a .500 season? -
There is not a team on our schedule that we can't beat. There are a few that are going to be major upsets if we win (San Diego/Denver). There are a few I think we should win (K.C./St Louis). The remaining IMO are a 50/50 win. A miracle season is within our grasps!!! Of course so is a one win season. I will continue to think we are in contention for a playoff spot until we are not.

But you came here and made a generlization that the majority is doing it and thats wrong...please in the future do not catergorize more people into your point then you really mean.....talk to the two people that are doing i,t not all of us.....ok bro...peace -

No need to get stuffy with Dorf...he was generalizing because of all the positive remarks made on this site regarding the win in NE....Perhaps not from specific individual posters. Did he exaggerate a little, yes, but his point was well taken... One win, and I'll repeat against a Brady-less NE, is not a super bowl proclamation...It's certainly a breath of fresh air for fans and a team that deserved it though and perhaps a glimse into the future of this franchise...and that we can all be in aggreance to...

I truly mean what iam about to say..
When we play san diego next sunday our players are gonna be ridiculously pumped, if we are'nt there in that stadium full to capacity with the same fervor and excitement that they have, then the same result will happen that always does, we will lose because our players are not getting that extra shot of emotion that comes from an electric crowd.
Please everyone, spread the word, spread the excitement, lets go into the game feeling like we can win, not feeling like they have to prove it before we can be that type of fanbase.
Taking a chance and going for it with our support combined with a win by our team in this particular situation, with all the hype thats gonna be around us and this game, could be the turning point from a dead fanbase with a bad reputation into one that feels that we can impact a game again. a true fan identity change.
Debbie downers will keep this franchise in its ugly rhythym because a team needs energy in a stadium to reach its playing potential. -

We finally get something very positive and people are happy, Dolphin fans can walk more upright the next two weeks, be proud with some positive results.
I'll take the positive everyday over the negative. I get what Dorf is saying, but nobody was talking Superbowl on the site, and a handful said maybe 10 wins and a chance at the playoffs. Heck, my heart says 16-0 every year. This was the first year I would do handstands with 6 wins.
Lets enjoy the win, and start building the Dolphin Fan Club up bigger, stronger and more positive than ever before!:hi5:MonstBlitz likes this. -
I'm waiting to see how the Chargers game goes. If they somehow pull that one out, playoff talk will NOT just be a pipe dream. I'm not sure they are good enough yet. Of course I would have said the same thing before the NE game and I thought they had a good chance to beat Arizona so what do I know. I'll just hold onto my excitement for now.

Wow one thread just to settle us down and now im the scum of the forum... ah well **** it.... SUPERBOWL HERE WE COME... YOU WILL NEVER HEAR A NEGATIVE THING FROM ME AGAIN!!!!!!

It had to be said. Expectations were getting a bit out of hand by some I thought. As good as we looked last week, we looked even worse the week before. Was really happy about Sunday, but I'm not getting my hopes up with this team until they can show some consistency.
