The Dolphins will need help from Den, SF, Buf, or Sea to make that week 17 game meaningful. But it was an impressive victory to make it five straight wins for the Jets

4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13.786 (5)

Down 17-0 with 3 quarters to play, Tampa woke up and realized they were playing the Lions. Impressive gut check moment, and another choke by the Lions. They've likely just stolen the division from the Panthers.

The most inconsistent team in the league once again delivered a flat performance. If they make the playoffs which team will show up the powerhouse or the pushover? The Panthers also don't get a break in the last 5 weeks. Games against GB, TB, Den, NYG, and NO will put this team to the test. If they make the playoffs, they will have earned it.

Hopefully 10 days off before playing the Pats will be enough to secure a victory. The Steelers have a tough 4-game stretch ahead, after the Pats they have Dal, Bal, and Ten.

They are 2 games into a 6 week stretch of teams under .500. They will make the playoffs. If the Dolphins don't make the playoffs it will most likely be because this team got on a roll. But the good news is they may be on just enough of a roll that they can stop the Jets from advancing in the playoffs.

Washington and Green Bay dropped out of the NFC playoff projections and Baltimore has replaced New England in the AFC.

Based purely on the impossibility that there will be no upsets in the last 5 weeks, if every team with more "power points" won every game every week, this is how the playoff picture would shape up:

It's just predictable of New York sports narcissism. The Giants have been playing great, and as soon as the Jets win one big game they want to jump 8 weeks into the future and imagine themselves as the center of the sports world. Completely forgetting how much can change in 8 weeks. 8 Weeks ago the Jets were 1-2.

 

Just looking at the playoff predictions and surprised I hadn't noticed this before.

It was bad enough when the Dolphins missed the playoffs at 10-6 due to tie-breakers following the 2003 season. But they may do it again and to make matters worse they could be one of 3 or more teams that go 10-6 this year and don't make the playoffs because a 9-7 or possibly 8-8 division champ takes their spot. I currently project both Denver and Chicago to make the playoffs at 9-7 due to winning their division, while also projecting Miami, New England, and Washington to miss the playoffs at 10-6.

This would certainly prompt a controversy and a potential rules change. Especially considering the fact that both Miami and New England dominated in their games against Denver.
