While Bayless is often a contrarian, I don't think you can say that is the case here. Outside of those here that keep saying "it's an illusion", most everybody else is saying this is a very good team that's playing very well. I'm talking about coaches and media. I watch NFL Network most weeks and early on you almost always saw every single "expert" pick against the Dolphins winning. Once in a blue moon you'd get one that might say "they Dolphins get their first win this week", but that was it. Now Miami is usually the unanimous pick. If there is a a vote against, it's usually b/c they believe in the other team rather than b/c they don't believe in Miami.

 

Bayless is beyond annoying.

 

He is a first class douche-bag.. After that segment he is going to challenge Lebron to a face off, then argue that Aaron Rodgers isn't a top tier QB..

All these celebration rules are getting out of hand. They always fall back to "it was the right call according to the rule". Maybe it's about time that somebody figures out that the rules are poor. All expression of emotion is not a taunt. People sometimes get happy when they make big plays. I don't understand why some want remove all the emotion from the game.

Dansby is a player.
He has no experience as a GM and his opinion on such matters should hold zero weight.

I don't think the role of coach has ever been one that holds much importance to a "friendship factor".

In fact I played football into college and I can flat out tell you looking back that the most effective coaches I ever had were not the ones I liked the most personally. The coach I hated the most is the one I respect the most because he pushed the hell out of us.

So for me this grass roots movement by the players in support of Sparano means nothing and it shouldn't mean anything to Ross.

They have a strong coach.
It's not all about "like".
Also the players have mentioned that Harbaugh is tough on them.
They respect him and believe in what he's pushing them towards.
The importance of the coaching position is gaining the respect of the players and getting them to believe in what they are doing NOT whether the players get a "warm and fuzzy" feeling from their coach.

 

The validity of a workers opinion of his boss always depends on what they are critiquing and whether it relates to anything measureable within the workplace.

Again, "like" is not an aspect a worker can demand out of a boss.
If a worker complains to his corp. offices that he personally does not like his boss it means nothing unless the boss is doing something unenthical, or in violation of HR standards or is reflective in poor bottom line results from that staff. If a boss is disliked yet the staff is producing that boss is going to stay regardless of whether anyone wants to send him a Christmas card. You know how many bosses are "disliked" because they hold people accountable? The horror!

On the flip side if a boss has not been getting consistent results from his staff then the opinion of "liking" the boss means zero.
So again, IMO this wave of player support for Tony should mean Nada.

try not being so unprofessional eg. not calling your boss an ******* and saying why you think they are an ******* instead.

 

I really don't care what dansby says. Until he plays at level like a ray lewis then nothing he says about the coaches matters.

a zach thomas could make this call. a jason taylor back in the day could make this call. dansby? who cares. he came in out of shape and played horrible for 8 games.


I wish matt moore was the guy too but he's not. he doesn't have an NFL arm. He's not accurate either. his football iq is nowhere near high enough to make up for these short comings. atleast with henne you felt like if he had some better coaching he atleast has the tools to be a winner. Matt moore is nothing than a great back up and if we can keep him at a cheap price then let him compete with the rookie we should draft, maybe even compete with henne.

 

But wouldn't Dansby throwing the coach under the bus in public cause himself a ton of problems. Being labeled a cancer in the locker room and not a 'team' guy etc. Not many people are going to express their true beliefs about their boss on national television.

To me it doesn't really matter much what Dansby says publicly. This team has under achieved and unless we start beating some elite tier teams I think it's hard to argue for another year for Sparano. The goal of playoffs was pretty clearly defined at the beginning of the year and we aren't going to make that. So he would have to show that the team has improved so much over the course of the remainder of the year that it would be unwise to fire him. So far I don't think he has made that case.

I heard the entire interview and think you may be misinterpreting his comments or have a different impression of what was said.

Dansby wasn't making a case for Sparano because he liked him. Far from it. He made the case for Sparano because -- in his words -- he inspires the players. Because he "came into his own" in the second half of the season. "Became his own man" and is "doing it his way" now. Dansby gave the lion's share of the credit for the turnaround to Sparano.

OT: I did some live play-by-play yesterday on our Twitter feed.

Personally, I think his words will absolutely carry some weight with Stephen Ross because it speaks to why Tony should be retained (not saying either way). It's not the determining factor, but when the veteran leadership on the team -- whom Sparano has since empowered to police the rest of the players -- goes to bat and says his methods were the catalyst for turning the season around, Stephen Ross will most certainly take it into account IMHO.

 

Due respect Muck, but imo it won't matter if Dansby has Sparano's baby if they do not finish even more strongly, like 3-1 with things breaking right and we knock the Jest out of the playoffs.

If we beat the pats in foxboro, and knock the Jest out of the playoffs, Sparano will be back imo, we beat philly and the bills and lose to the pats and jest, sparano should call Ryder and pick up some extra boxes.

 

At 4 wins, I'll take anyone in the media making a case for us. :tongue2:

Unless Dansby promises to buy 10,000 Season Tickets, I don't think Ross is gonna care what he thinks....

 

Don't care a tinker's damn what the players want, we need a real HC to right this ship. Tony is a likable guy, I like him, but he is NOT a HC that will ever get this team to the SB.

 

Sparano is not an excellent coach. This town needs an excellent coach or the season tickets will not go up to where they need to be. OK, he motivates, is a players coach so they all want him to remain but the bottom line is his teams will now have went close to or under 500 for three straight seasons.
