Dolphins look to their future, but they'll face their past in the playoffs
I knew that a new regime was costly for the owner. I have never seen a figure placed upon it though. I assume that the figure didn't even include their first year salary. Staggering numbers to say the least.

Yep, Cameron, Capers, the old Oline coach had big money contracts, Wayne H had to eat them all to bring in Sparano and Tuna...and Tuna cost 3 million upfront and 5% of the Franchise...
To put that into perspective, the Lions supposedly will not bring in a Tuna or a Pioli because it would cost 7 million to turn over their Football Operations.. -
you cannot say that H.Wayne didn't do everything possible to make us a winner, including the loss of 27 mill.

Nothing to be sick about. Wayne deserves all the props and credits. Its a business, money spent (including guarantees and buyouts) are sunk costs. Sunk costs in business that equal dead weight and bad fits are expenses (losses) that wont be recovered.
The term cutting your loses applies perfectly. -
i think it is a testement to how Wayne has always tried to do right- and pay whatever it takes to be right.
Cameron and company were either expensive holdovers or picked by mueller. Huizenga paid 27 million to clean house and instill a fresh- and finally right- look to this team. -
I will miss Wayne. He is, without a doubt, the best NFL owner, bar none.

Wayne sure had a big smile on his face as the TV cameras showed he and his wife in the sky box. It was interesting that they said Parcells hadn't attended any of the Dolphins away games and was back in Miami watching the game on TV.
Bill Parcells can certainly be proud of what he has put together in Miami. He has definitely returned pride to a downtrodden Dolphins organization. Congrats Bill. -
He heart has always been in the right place though and money has never been an issue when it came to trying to make this team better. He is a top 10 owner for sure and maybe top 5 but I dont know that he is THE BEST owner in the league. -

I love Wayne and everything he did for us. We now have the perfect situation where a real "football guy" is playing owner with the owner's money and I'm really hoping Mr. Ross isn't going to go Jerry Jones or Al Davis on BillZod and dolphan117 like this. -
Why does Wayne want to sell the team? I really hate to see him go. This guy has done everything right in trying to build a winner.
In retrospect, maybe the decisions weren't all great. Bringing in Jimmy Johnson (fans loved it), bringing in Saban (fans loved it), bringing in Cam (fans were excited for an offensive minded coach), and then Parcells.
You can't ask more of an owner then what Wayne has given. Hate to see him leave. -

How much does it cost to fix a sinking ship. This franchise is worth 1000 million .
27 million is 2.7 percent.
It sounds like good business to me .The ship is no longer sinking .In fact its back in the running for the Americas Cup .:wink2: -
wow, 27 million? Thats a whole lot of money to get rid of a whole lot of junk. Seems well worth it at this point now i think

That regime wasn't worth much more than a 6 pack of piss warm beer and half a bologna sandwich.
