Hey. It is a very interesting though. It would definitely fit the out of the box thinking I want. Plus, he has had success as a head coach, albiet in an alternate league. He's done a heck of a job with Andy Dalton in Cincinnati.

 

Seriously asking that? This front office is horrible, they don't aquire good talent just damaged goods for the most part.

He's a football junkie just like his brother.

Jay Gruden played/coached for the Predators in the springs and then coached under his brother in Tampa in the autumns. Jay was basically 'in season' all year around. IIRC, he was the head coach/starting quarterback simultaneously for a brief period with the Predators (after the head coach died).

Here's a guy who transitioned from successful player to successful head coach, back to successful player and back to successful head coach again. I think that has served him well as an offensive guy and it's showing in his handling of the Red Rifle in Cincy.

Gruden's an outside-the-box guy and he's still only 44.

We could do worse.

 

Funny how one year ago he wasn't good enough to be Miami Hurricanes HC and now he's a serious contender for the Dolphins.

That said I would be happier with him as HC than most other options.

 

I'd pass at this point. I'd wait a couple years with him. Although I really like how he's handled Dalton. But that offense is 22nd in yards and 16th in points. Obviously things you have to take into account, but you also have to consider their schedule of Browns, Broncos, 49ers, Bills, Jags and Colts. Their 4-2 because Zimmer and that D. Not so much Gruden and that O. Although I do like somethings he's done. I just don't think he's their just yet.

 

I want Zimmer to get an interview..I really like how his players play for him, and how he coaches.

 

The Miami Dolphins need to hire Gruden as their head coach.

The Jacksonville Jaguars need to hire Gruden as their head coach.

I am on this bandwagon if we can't land the big 3. I think he might surprise some people in the right situation.

 

Give me Chudzinski over Gruden any day of the week if we're going to hire a first time HC.

 

I don't know, did he ever coach for the Cowboys? I think we should be sure to look at the Cowboys for more players/coaches, they've been so successful since Jimmie Johnson left we should be trying to emulate everything they do.

 

Both would be on my list. The difference between the two is that Gruden does have head coaching experience. Chud has won championships as a player and assistant coach while Jay has won championships as a player, assistant coach, and head coach.

Urban Meyer?!? You think he'd transition to the NFL ? Although I'd like to see what he could do with RG III

 

I don't see how he would transition to the pro game. Although Brantley isnt a great QB, he was one of the best passing recruits when Meyer got a hold of him and Meyer couldnt adjust his offense to suit Brantely. He basically stuck with the offense Tebow ran, which was the opposite of what he should of done. Besides, Meyer doesnt want this stress....

 

The offense Meyer ran at Utah with Alex Smith was certainly more pass heavy than the one he ran with Tebow at Florida. He can adapt. That said, I would prefer to stay away because of the burnout factor. I'm in the go with the young up and comer group. We've been down the Cowher/Fisher/Gruden road. Time to think outside the box.

 

It was the exact same offense and what do you mean "certainly more pass heavy"? Tebow passed more in College then Alex Smith.

 

I'm a Gator fan/alum. Urban's offense does not adapt. Last year was a complete joke (partially because he didn't give two ****s for the entire season) and he wasted everyone's time because he was too stubborn and decided to take a traditional dropback QB and force him to play the read option/spread as if he was another Tebow. Furthermore, without once in a generation talents of Tebow/Harvin, the offense was stymied by SEC defenses. Even Tebow's last season was a struggle because he tried to make it work and without a second elite playmaker to keep the defense honest (I'm excluding Aaron Hernandez here), the team struggled to move the ball. Everyone knew that 3/4ths of the playbook was Tebow left and Tebow middle. I also didn't like that Urban very obviously played favorites and kept more talented people on the sidelines because he didn't like them or they didn't practice well regardless of their actual ability on the field. The fact Andre DeBose almost never saw the field last year and he was probably our biggest playmaker was a freaking joke.

 

So.......................your saying you don't like Meyer to be our coach then?

If you liked Saban, you're gonna love Meyer. I'd rather just promote whoever is in charge of the STs than bring in that guy.

 

I would rather have Saban than Meyer who is one of the most overated college coaches out there .Yes he won a national championship with the likes of Tebow,Harvin,Hernandez ,Spikes but once those talented players left he was exposed .The spread will not work in the SEC with the likes of Alabama and LSU in the conference .It only works in weaker conferences.

He quit for a reason .He he could not top what he has done up to this point IMO .

He doesnt have the character to be an NFL coach IMO.

 

Meyer. I don't want that piece of **** douche coaching this team. I'd rather fail with someone who actually has a chance. Meyer has none. He will NEVER pan out in the NFL. And it's not only that crap offense either. Grown men won't put up with him and his ego for too long. Happened to Gruden. Happened to Mangini. Happened to McDaniels. Not to mention, I doubt he has the mental capacity capable of the NFL grind. And I'd rather not field a team full of criminals either.

Meyer would not go pro. He almost stressed himself to death at Florida, what do you think will happen in the pros?
