thephins.com is growing. It is not even a year old. Right now we have very loyal members. We keep on growing and sooner or later we will google results. Give it time to expand. An average joe like yourself can tell your friends, family members or any dolphin fans you know. People will come to thephins.com once and i guarantee you they would be hooked. Also another thing that thephins have is some of the best graphic artist, ie dm, of any fan forum. Just look at all the nice looking wallpapers thephins have, let alone the amazing design the forums and site has. This site has a very very bright future, i really cant wait to see where this site is at in 3-4 years. Its going to be an amazing ride!

 

It is my personal mission to ensure that thephins.com becomes the biggest Miami Dolphins fan site out there. When I run into a Dolphin fan on the street, in the market, etc., two phrases are uttered from me to them almost immediately after I say hello. Thephins.com and Miami Mike's Sports Zone. I run into alot of Dolphin fans up here in Jersey. :up:

 

Understood that the original poster wants to share this incredible sight, and as Jt stated, it is still in its infancy, it is growing pretty much every day, and much of that is because of our members spreading the word as Miss Mary is.
Another thing to ponder is Quality over Quantity is very very important, at least to me it is.

 

i agree very strongly with that. We have amazing members here. The quality of this site compared to others is amazing and i stays like that with each member we get

 

we dont want to get wildly busy like FH got after awhile. That helped to water down the quality of that once great site.

 

I'd like to touch on a subject mentioned earlier.

While we may or may not one day become the biggest Dolphins fansite out there, that is not one of our goals. In fact, at this point in time, we do not want that distinction. I wouldn't classify it as a stated objective, but we are certainly enjoying the current path the site is taking.

Indeed, we are all about quality over quantity. We have a good thing going right now and we'd hate to spoil it with undesirables 'gracing' us with their presence.

One way you can help us is by posting our link elsewhere. If you're replying to a blog somewhere and it has a URL field when in addition to your name/email, go ahead and put www.thephins.com in there.

However, we ask that you be cognizant of where you're posting it. If it's a toxic place with a high volume of garbage posts/posters, we'd rather they not know about our community.

 

Certainly quality is a bigger part of the equation than quantity.

I believe the best way to get the word out about our great site ThePhins is by word of mouth from our existing members.:up: It has been happening for a while now, and will continue. We want to continue to bring quality members here to add to our awesome family. I would also rather stay smaller, and maintain a great family atmosphere, then get too big. The members that I have met so far from ThePhins have been first class, and have always treated me like a brother. This is something that I feel we need to maintain no matter what.:hi5:

It has a lot to do with incoming links. The more links we have inbound, the greater our link popularity. To enhance that, we added the Add This feature. As we get to be more "known", our search engine rankings will improve. As Muck mentioned, you can help by adding links to good articles here on sites that are appropriate in content. You don't want to add a link to a blog unless the blog is largely a football blog for instance.

That said, according to Alexa, we are the second most popular Miami Dolphins fan site and we are only 9 months old.

I like the group we have here and, like Muck, we would rather not sacrifice quality for quantity.

 

I like the fact that I don't regularly see "Ronnie is a bust!" threads after a game... I guess the best thing you could do is, if you see a Dolphins fan.. then pass him the link. We have a foundation of very loyal members (everyone but az) so the base has been built. Word of mouth is how I found out about Finheaven when I was 15 and word of mouth is how I found out about ThePhins... I think that's the best way to bring people to ThePhins...

 

you can do a few things like making videos of the site and posting them on sites, linking to the site, etc. But all in all I agree with muck. I like the way it is now, I like the people, I like the content..................

One big step is that the link to ThePhins.com has been added to the official Miami Dolphin site and its already bearing fruits as registrations have increased lately.

This site is about quality not quantity.

By and large our members are established frequent posters .They have a vested interest in maintaining the quality of this site .

Those of us who have been around for awhile have seen what can happen to a site when its flooded by the casual posters who bring their negative and antagonistic behaviour with them.They have nothing invested so they act like children whose parents are not at home.

Those type of forums quickly degenerate into a negative and bickering atmosphere .Celtkin and Muck dont want that here .

IMO the best kind of advertising is by word of mouth .:yes:

 

The only time I invited any one from other sites here, is after I read and/or posted and saw how they behaved. There were a couple I visited that I doubt any one would have wanted them visiting us. I never sign up until I read their posts.

Anyway--this is the best site anywhere and I love how we're family, not just posters on a board!

Trade some links find all the members here that have websites that pass whatever criteria you want to use and do reciprocal links - have a "friends of" section to link the member sites in exchange all of those sites have to put a thephins.com banner of some size on their site. Incoming links look really sweet on SEO.

 

For now, we are the the #1 listing when you search Google for "Miami Dolphins Forums" and are in the top three of many other major search terms for things pertaining to the Miami Dolphins.

I just googled and we are number 2 on 'miami dolphins forum' and number 6 on 'dolphins forum' - both on front page. :up:

I hate the other site. There is so much drivel over there that I get a migraine reading one post.

Because we have more forums that just Football forums, brother Marty. Since football only spans 8 months a year and because we want to be a year-round forum, we are happy to be on top in football terms and "social" terms. No need to close down from January to Aug? ;)
