Holding workouts is not a good sign.
Aaron Wilson @RavensInsiderDolphins worked out DBs Ronald Bartell, Jalil Brown, Jacob Lacey, Terrence McGee, Ryan Mouton and DeMarcus Van Dyke, per a source

I just hoping it's not another case of him "not want to put bad tape out".
No harm in having some workouts since we are 1 injury away from starting a waterboy at CB. -

Well, I'm still not convinced that Carroll is an answer for us. I felt pretty good with Carroll as #3, but he's been exposed this week after a couple of solid games. Taylor is still coming back. Jones isn't quite ready at DB (but good on STs). If they are bringing in guys, then it doesn't look good for those guys to be back... The hope has to be that Wake, Soliai, Patterson, Taylor, etc are all gonna be ready to go after the bye...
EDIT: Ooops, wrong about Bye...was thinking it was after this game....Well, there goes that theory. It has to mean that they don't see those guys back this week at all... -

Dolphins cornerback Dimitri Patterson doesn't sound as though he'll be playing Monday night against New Orleans.Patterson, who has missed the last two games with a groin injury he sustained in the season opener against Cleveland, struck a cautionary note on Tuesday.
"The thing is with injury like this you start to feel better as the days go on and you think you can do more than what you can do, and you go out there and kind of set yourself back," he said. "So you've got to be careful." -
It's a shame the Phins couldn't re-sign Sean Smith. He's a part of a great Secondary in KC now. I don't think he's even starting for them.*

The point I raised immediately after Week 1 against the Browns is just this:
Last year the guy got here off waivers from the Browns and played one full game for us. Great. The very next week he didn't even make it through a couple dozen plays before he got injured. Fast forward to this season. Heading INTO Week 1, he was battling an ankle injury that made him Questionable (50/50) for the game. He played only about two-thirds of that game, because he took a groin injury. He comes in with an ankle that put his Week 1 availability in question, and he leaves with a groin that puts his Week 2 availability in question.
There's a strong possibility that at 31 years old, this guy is made of glass. That was quite literally one of the reasons the Cleveland Browns ditched him less than one full year into the fresh three-year contract they had given him. He got injured there in Week 5, didn't come back until Week 14 and only then as a part-timer. There were rumors that the Browns thought he'd be available to come back sooner but that he nixed the idea because he didn't want to put out any "bad tape".mbsinmisc likes this. -

I've actually been impressed with Carroll all things considered. Last year any time the ball was thrown his way I'd shut my eyes as I was expecting him to be badly beaten and a long gain was about to be given up. This year his coverage has been pretty good, I haven't noticed many people running away from him.Alex13 likes this. -

The problem really isn't so much Nolan Carroll. He can hold his own. The issue rears it's ugly head when it comes to depth. Against a team like the Jets, it might not be a big deal. But against a team with a lot of weapons and a good QB, it's an exposure waiting to be taken advantage of.

FYI. ALL of Miami's corners have positive grades.

I was in favor of keeping Marshall for one more season and cutting Patterson. I looked very wrong in the first half of week one....but if the guy can't make it onto the field on Sunday (or Monday), then another guy who might not make quite as big of an impact can be more valuable. Of course, I know that Marshall missed 75% of last season himself.
In the end, lets hope the rookies get healthy and ready to play ASAP so that we don't have to worry about this as much. -
The QB rating on passes into Carroll's coverage last Sunday was 90.6.Springveldt, Unlucky 13, Fin D and 2 others like this. -
