I predict a 6-10 best case scenario. Even with the drafted players we will have, they will have to learn the NFL, the new philosophy, and more importantly, gel as a winning team.

Maximum of 3 barring some incredible free agent acquisitions and a very solid draft. This team simply does not have much talent on it, and the quarterback position is STILL a question, because we have no idea what Beck's fate is.

Agreed 100%.:ffic:
-
hopefully 6-10
-
I'll let you know after the draft
-
I have to agree with Marino. His New Year prediction was that the Dolphins would win twice as many games as this year. Anything after that would be great.
-
I thought we would be about 8-8 this past year.
6-10 would be a nice improvement. -
I think we win at least 5 games next season.
We should have won at least 4 games THIS season.
If Saban was coaching us, or Wansteadt were coaching the EXACT same personal they would have shown all of the casual fans just how much Cam was in over his head...
Our team wasn't very good, but we had enough players to win at least half of those games that we lost by less than 6 points. -
Let's at least wait until we see who we pick up in the draft and FA before we predict anything.
-
Totally agree. Even if we kept out current roster, we are a 3-5 win team right now w/ decent coaching. W/ a bit of luck in FA and the draft (and a really good coaching staff) we should start to see real improvement toward the end of next year. Probably look a bit rough coming out of the gate but steady improvement toward the end....a 6 win or more season.
-
I'm going with 7-8
Based on nothing but sheer optimism and the fact that we apparently have a really easy schedule next year. -
This is more difficult than I thought because we lost like 6 games by 3 pts. New coaching can also change that considering we lost some games because of poor play calling and time management. Let's not forget the key additions to offense and defense and ST this offseason. I think we'll be fine next year ... with a little bit of luck.
-
Impossible to say when you don't know whom 25-30 guys will be on the team. By the end of thi year, we had 31 different players in our last game this year than we had the year prior (heard that on the radio broadcast). Expect that total to be around that high if not higher next year.
I'll bet you one thing.....our players will be playing with a lot more heart and passion than we saw this year. That alone is probably worth 3 or 4 more wins.Last edited: Jan 5, 2008 -
all depends on how quickly the team buys into the new coaching staff.
-
I said 4-12 for this year to compensate for a rookie head coach. I say 4-12 for next year. We were able to hang with playoff teams, but coaching cost us. Sparano will still make rookie mistakes, but I see improvement.
-
if our players can stay healthy i think we will be atleast a 8-8 team
-
Miami will struggle for a couple more seasons. Unless they pull off some of the best FA & DRAFT selections this decade. That is not so bad...I have faith that the new captain will get us back on track. The upcoming draft & free agency should bring us at least 3-4 more wins. Better coaching and gameplans should bring us 3-4 wins...so even them out and we should win about 6+ games if they have the normal hit and miss approach. If they have a great run with the draft & fa...then Miami may be battling for .500 by seasons end.
GO PHINS!!! -
6 to 8 seems right. I believe the turnaround over the last ten years for teams finishing worst in league is +6 games which would put us at 7. Add a healthy Brown, new influx of talent and that seems like a reasonable guess. Of course luck, injuries and funny ball bounces will determine the fianl record but even if we did nothing and went into the next season with the same but healthy squad we would probably finish wioth 4 or 5 wins. Of course Parcells will gobble up all the accolades thrown at him for finishing better. LOL

I'm sticking with my prediction from last year... 4-12.
-
Based on points scored and yards allowed/made the statisticians reckon we should have been a 4-12 team this year.
Next year we are very unlikely to have such a bad run with injury. We have cleared up cap space and have lts of young promising players on offence who are likely to improve next year. We are in position to improve the team by adding free agent talent unlike previous years where we have been handcuffed by a bad salary cap.
I'd normally say that puts us in position to go 6-10ish. However the Bill Parcells thing should also shake up the defence where our production was much lower than the potential, so there's probably a game or two that can be made up there on the scared straight principal. -
0-16 and BP bails and we get to start all over again.
-
This is the NFL guys....not MLB. Any team can step up or down by a large margin when there is a salary cap. Teams turn over a third of their roster in the offseason.
No team in the NFL is more than a year away from beign a playoff team if good decisions are made. Plus the fact that coaching is such a huge factor in succeeding. The Fins could very well be 9-7 next year. -
Bingo, I have always maintained that it's hard to tell what kind of chances a team has going into the following season until after the free agency period and the draft. Now mind you, after last year, I didnt' have us winning one game however. I see somewhere from 4 to 7 wins.
-
12-4 :-)

ask me this question after we have broken down and assessed Parcell's first offseason

i wouldnt mind getting another top 5 pick next year

speaking of baseball, i hate to ask but are we considered the royals right now? This is the NFL guys....not MLB. Any team can step up or down by a large margin when there is a salary cap. Teams turn over a third of their roster in the offseason.

no since most people think Parcells has us going in the right direction, and no matter what, Miami will always be an attractive place for Players and coaches, we are not the equivelent to the Royals.speaking of baseball, i hate to ask but are we considered the royals right now?Click to expand...
THe Lions, until they start to really improve, are pretty much the D-Rays of the NFL -
oo its too early to tell. It depends on who we get for coaches and players and who our opponents get and when we play our opponents and where. For now ill say .500 because idk. Come back to me in about june and it will either go up or down from there.
