As I watched yesterdays game. Rain. Our 3 best best offensive lineman out. Running game getting stuffed. I sat thinking, season over. Tannehill looks like crap. Wide outs looking sluggish. No tight end threat. Tannehill looks skiddish. Coach calling terrible plays. I thought to myself, the real Dolphins are back. The real Tannehill is back, just like I knew he would be! The below average that has some incredible talent but continually just cant be even close to consistent. Tough as nails, but just can't get it done when it mattered. Knew he would show back up and ruin our win streak...
...Then...it happened. Ryan put this team on his back in the last two drives and willed this team to a victory. He was decisive, he was accurate, he was GREAT. I always bashed Ryan and say the same thing. He needs everything to be right to be successful. In reality, everything yesterday was WRONG. Everything. Great defense. Rain. Bad OL. Bad running game. Ryan was the man yesterday. I am proud that he is my QB this Monday, for the first time in quite some time.
Does this mean I think he is the franchise QB we wanted him to be? I am not sure I am there quite yet, because I have wavered to that side one too many times in the past only to be let down. But I now believe that Ryan may be that guy. I now am opening my heart back up to that blue eyed bastard. I will still criticize, because I do that to everyone when they are off. and everyone has off series, drives, quarters, etc. But I will no longer beat my chest and tell you Ryan isn't the man for the job for this franchise. What he did yesterday was what legitimate top QBs do. Play like ****, even the best do, but when it mattered he was able to flip the switch.
So to the members on this board I have pointed and laughed at for believing in Ryan...I apologize...
To Ryan Tannehill....I re-re-re-give my heart to you....please handle with care.

I have never agreed that he needed everything to be right. He just needed everything to not be wrong. Going forward, don't be afraid to criticize. I criticized Marino and Shula in their days so I believe nobody is above that. Just make sure the criticism sees the whole picture. Reality is that nobody carries a team on his own. Tannehill was decisive and accurate on those last two drives but the coaches opened the play book and helped the OL. The OL protected better and Parker made some great plays. Tannehill could have been just as decisive and accurate as he was on those last two drives but if those other elements had failed many would be criticizing Tannehill today unfairly.

The Ryan tannehill evaluation has been a very difficult one imo..so right or wrong I think both sides have had their reasons for optimism and pessimism..
The one thing that might have made it much more difficult than the norm is that ryan tannehill is the first in the history of this league to play wide receiver for a major conference football team, be a thousand yard receiver, then switch to QB at that level, then transition to pros..maybe the timeframe because of all that needed a different timeline...
if we can make the playoffs it will be a great test to see where his game stands up..

I'm still shocked by that stat where Tannehill is only behind Peyton and Marino for most yards to start a career. I've heard all the alleged reasons why that's not supposed to be impressive, but I'm still impressed.Fin D, Two Tacos, resnor and 1 other person like this.

The numbers are extremely impressive! It never ceases to amaze (and depress) me that Tannehill keeps accumulating the numbers he has without a post season trip. I'm pretty sure there's never been a QB to post the kind of yardage and TD/INT ratios Tannehill has over the past few seasons and not be rewarded with a trip to the playoffs at least once.
