Listening to Sirius Radio Late Hits. Gill Brant was a host. We all know he is a very good draft guru and is a personal friend of Bill Parcells. Normally, he will give an opinion on who the Fins will be taking. Not last night.
Last night he said this:
-He spoke to Parcells in the morning in confidence.
-He will not tell who we are taking but has a pretty good idea on what we are doing.
-Parcells has a plan and there are several sub-plans
-He said we may be "surprised" with our choice
Reading into it, it sounds like we are obviously trying to move out of 12. I wonder what the surprise is? Kindle, Dan Williams and Earl Thomas would not be a surprise. I wonder if we like someone like Brandon Graham who nobody has even talked about??
What do you guys think?

CJ Spiller or Dez Bryant with the Marshall addition would be the only picks that would surprise me. At least in the first round. If we take Tim Tebow in the 2nd, I wouldn't be surprised, I'd be disgusted.

Surprised? I dont like the sound of that. I was surprised last year when we took White, and I was surprised in 2007 when we took Ginn, and I was surprised in 2006 when we took Jason Allen...please, no more surprises.

Could the regime be on board some of our Jerry Hughes bandwagon?
I suppose G Mike Iupati would be sort of a suprise but I wouldnt be all that mad about it.
Cant say Spiller would shock me all that much if theyre shopping Ronnie...
Gresham? I hope not.
CB Joe Haden would be a shock for a number of reasons.
Dan Williams would NOT be a shock nor would Morgan, Thomas, Kindle.
Graham is graded to high at a need position for that to be a suprise pick imo.
We wont even talk about Tebow.
Interesting, would Bill really confide that info to ANYONE in the media? I just cant wait until Thursday night. -
Also it doesnt surprise me that we are looking to get out of #12 though we shouldnt we can get an immediate STUD with that pick and fill the NT or DE issue or grab another STUD wideout and having an offense for the decade.
I think we already spent the money allocated to the #12 slot by signing Marshall (In Rosses eyes) and they are not interested in spending another boatload on a rookie. I hope I am wrong though..finyank13 and SuperMarksBros. like this. -

im telling you, G Mike Iupati. It'd be the most boring pick we could possibly make. It would infuriate everyone, and yet, its a move i could see happening.

Tebow....
Every ounce of optimism I got from signing Marshall would be replace by nausea 1,000 fold. -
Now I gotta worry about this?
Thanks :pity:
 -
I'd be angry, not surprised, if they took a G with the 12th pick.
Surprises would be Bryant or another WR. McClain because of the contract they gave Crowder last year. Haden because it will force a move of Smith. Spiller because a lack of great need. Even thought I have my doubts about Spiller I would be happy with these picks.TheAnswer385 likes this. -
to me, about the only 'surprise' would be to selet a DE ... which would NOT be too surprising to me ... but would upset most folks on this board ... and that guy to me is Odrick. A good DE can make the OLB look better.
in rd 1 i can only see us picking up a OLB, S, DE .... ILB is an outside chance -- and that could only be if this regime saw McClain as special -- and i don't see that.
I'm at the point that its Berry, Morgan (but not at 12), or Odrick (not at 12) ... or drop out of rd 1 and pick up several additional later picks.
that way there, we can still get Allen / Burnett or Jones at S, Lane at SOLB, Carrington at DE and Joseph at NT ..... -
Don't overanalyze. I think "surprises" would be players not normally expected to be picked in the first round by Parcells, as in, for instance,
Earl Thomas (never picked a safety before)
Brandon Graham (doesn't have typical size for Parcells)Disgustipate likes this. -
- Parcells is happy to use Brandt to put information out there that keeps people guessing. Information like we may be 'surprised'.
- If I were surprised, it would be that we actually found a trade partner to trade down. I'd also be happy.
- How about a big FAT surprise if we take someone WAY above where they are valued? Is that the sort of surprise Dolphins fans could handle? Imagine Sparano getting booed as he announces that we have taken big Mount Cody at #12 in the FIRST round... 70 spots ahead of where anyone else would have taken him! I can see Sparano saying, "Today, da fans has three-hundred and seventy reasons to be happy. Each one is a pound of flab we've added to the heart of our defense!" Sounds healthy.
- Ignore the above. Won't happen.
- Or will it? Let's keep you guessing... just like Bill ParcellsStriking likes this. -
Although Brandt does have the tendancy to embellish for the sake of the show, I think he thinks the "surprise" will be a trade out. What I think he does not realize is that "trade out" is the FIRST thing we expect from Parcells.
Given that circumstance, having a pick in the second would not be a surprise nor will fleecing a first this year and next be a surprise. I do not think there is a better position than 12 to trade out. Anywhere from 10-15 teams will have a "top ten" still on their board at 12 and the key selling point to 12 is that you are far away from top ten money.
I love 12 and I have thought since the day we acquired the pick that we would trade out of it. I just wish we didn't have to endure the season to get that pick. -
Surprised to me means either Dez Bryant or reaching for a defensive player.

Tim Tebowwwwwww!!

I think the 'surprise' would be an Iutapi, Spiller, Tebow or Bryant type of pick...not need areas like OLB, S or NT... -
I would venture to say that 3 months ago, he was'nt on anyones #12 wishlist, except very few of us....Now, I would say he is the favorite at 12 if berry is off the board..
The reason why he is the favorite imo, is because his tape does'nt lie, and people started watching more tape...he can do it all, ultra versatile, highly explosive, very strong, symetrically balanced Proportions that are cutting edge for a man that size with that type of agility. behind the LOS football player, stout setting the adge, and relentless to the QB..Larryfinfan likes this. -
I love the guy, even at 12. He is going to be a stud IMO.Killerphins and djphinfan like this. -
I would venture to say that considering our linebacking situation, Brandon Graham is the perfect pick...This is a freak of a football player, ultra versatile. Has the strength and athleticism to play 6 positions along the front 7....I want B Graham, and I could give a rats *** if he's 2 inches under their prototype...he makes up for it in thickness and speed.Killerphins and SCPhinFan like this. -
all i keep hearing is the media talking about morgan and kindle but to me graham is the better fit across the board because of he sheer versatility. i dont worry about his height either. the same was said about lamar woodley when he came out and the guy is a beast. a lot of similarities there.
i want brandon graham on this defense. he doesnt quit. the guy is going to be a force on someones D in the future. I sure hope it is ours -

Peter King thinks we could trade with the Eagles.
Quote:
King writes that the Dolphins, who have the 12th pick, could be the Eagles' trading partners. Dolphins boss Bill Parcells would like to have a second-round pick, but Miami currently doesn't have one after the Brandon Marshall trade.
Here's the article:

It's the perfect plan by our FO. They have a source "whos not willing to reveal any information" that reveals the information we're going to take a surprise. Now every team who may have had a suspicion of who we're going to take is hearing it will be a surprise. We just blew the other teams' minds.
-
IMO a surprise would be Spiller, though we just lost/traded our special teams returner in Ginn maybe Brandt didn't know about that which is why it would be a surprise pick.
Maybe, knowing Parcells doesn't pick safeties in the first, one of the safeties being picked first would surprise. -
-
Spiller is less of a surprise now that Ginn has been traded. -
Jermaine Gresham.
