I hate almost everything about it. It's overly complex to the point where guys who have been running it for years still have to wear wrist bands to know what to do, yet it is also so predictable that almost every defense we face knows what is coming and how to counter it. The extreme rigidity of it where players have to fit the "system" instead of the system adjusting to the players talents. The constant worthless wr screens, the dink and dunk passes, the finesse and vanilla running game. Tell me again why we are throwing deep to Landry when he is not a deep threat? Why are we throwing screens to Parker when he is not a yac receiver? Why did we run so much inside zone with ajayi when he is a better outside zone runner?
It's just awfull, only time it is any good is when we are down and he has to start taking chances and opening things up.
I hope everyone has realized by now that gase is no offensive guru, he is an average offensive coordinator who lucked out having Payton Manning to make him look good.
If your offense only works with a HOF QB under center then it is not much of an offense.
This team is going from bad to worse, last year was a fluke due to a combination of luck in a lot of very close games, ajayi breaking out and carrying the team midseason, and a very weak schedule.
Gase was not and is not ready to be a HC in the NFL imo. Maybe in the future he can become one, but right now he is an amateur at the position that he is in and we have to suffer through his learning curve.
We need a coach with real experience and a history of real success. Someone who knows what the heck they are doing.
With gase I am thinking the same thing I am thinking with tannehill. They are an average HC/QB combination. If we have a chance at a real proven HC and/or real franchise QB in the off-season we need to make the change asap and stop experimenting and waiting for things to "click".
I have seen enough from both RT and Gase to know that neither of them are anything special.

It’s almost like Ajayi carried us last season and was scapegoated.

Land the next Aaron Rodgers in the draft and all of a sudden Gase is a genius again. Problem is, we don't have the front office to even realize we may need a QB, let alone know a good one when they see him.

As for a coach with real experience and a history of real success? Name some names. These guys aren't falling off trees. If you say Gruden, I will hit you through your screen lol.
I can think of a handful of coaches, but it's unlikely they are unemployed and its unlikely we can entice them to move.
All in all, I want the full season to play out. I am currently on the fence. An offensive genius should coax a bit more out than he has. A good manager shouldn't seem to have as many issues as we do. Ultimately, if the season ends and we are at least playing hard and take a few? I'd probably lean towards keeping unless someone unexpected shakes loose. Get a better QB, better line, then let's see which season was the fluke. -
Gase was OC in Denver from 2013-2014. Peyton in 2013 had a record breaking season, most notably the most TD's ever in a season with 55, and the most passing yards per game in a season with 342.3. There's a case to be made that that was the best passing offense ever in NFL history. The only thing more remarkable than that Peyton-led 2013 offense was how Seattle shut it down in the SB.
And 2014 wasn't that bad either with Peyton having a 101.5 rating for the year which was 4th best in the league.
The rest of your post you made some good points.. but this quote?? lol -
I think the bad playcaller narrative is overblown, I think we have a personnel problem, and Unless you have russel Wilson at qb if your line is this bad, this weak, this uncoordinated, your offense is going to suck and be completely inconsistent..
Time to completely focus the personnel on the Oline -
Bushrod singlehandedly killed at least one crucial drive today against Tampa.dolphin25 likes this. -
he got too much credit for Manning's ability. The 2015 season in Chic was average, and was over-emphasized because Cutler played a little better
-
Peyton in Denver couldn't throw deep though, so Gase's offense probably fitted him quite well (it doesn't hurt in NE either, as Brady throws a lot of underneath stuff) - however, both had/have a more well rounded offense and better Olines as well (notwithstanding HOF QB's). Someone more knowledgeable will know if they have bubble screens in their offense.
The one thing I wondered is, if Cutler/Moore can see that the bubble screen (for example) won't work, how much freedom do they have to audible away from Gase's possible bad play sent in?texanphinatic likes this. -

yesterday on the first TD drive I was OK! Gase has it figured out now, but then he went back to she same ole BS play calling that has not worked all year.

Let's look at the results...
PPG 31 out of 32
YPG 30 out of 32
So for those that like the "Process", how does this compare to last years "Process"?hitman8 and finsfandan like this. -
I love Ajayi but like I said before, at the very least, it was worth keeping him around in hope he’d return to form and risk missing out on a low 4th round pick. -

But Ajayi wasn’t good for any of that, apparently. We’ve got a strong running game now.bigballa2102 likes this. -

As far as who was more responsible, I'd say Gase is right now making a strong case that it really was Peyton more than anything else. Also when adjusted for era, Cutler's 2015 season with Gase was only his 4th best (his best years were his early years), and Tannehill's 2016 season was similar to his 2014 season statistically, including an 8-game stretch where his combined rating was over 100.
Peyton on the other hand was an elite QB before he was with Gase. So while I think both contributed, right now the evidence weighs much more heavily on Peyton being the primary factor than Gase IMO.texanphinatic likes this. -

I dunno guys... it's almost like it worked so well with his skilled starting QB, and with Cutler it isn't working. When Tannehill comes back (or he is replaced with someone not named Cutler) it will go back to being fine.
I think. -
