We battle about GM, HC, QB… and on and on where the blame lies. Sometimes good natured debate, sometimes awful and mean spirited.
i want something we can all agree on:
the punter ****ing sucks.
palardy was brought in to upgrade Haack, and will finish… tied with Haack for 26th of 32 qualifying punters in punting average.
How…do they correctly decide to move on AND BRING IN A GUY WITH THE EXACT SAME PRODUCTION? You couldnt do that if you tried. Shuffling deck chairs on the titanic.
Place kicker awful too this year. Dismal ST all season really. Underrated cause for despair.

During the game watching a few punts leading up to the titans first TD, I remember thinking, "when did punter become such a glarring weakness on this team". I always assumed he was just another typical mid-level punter...

You could literally cut him right now, and find his replacement today. Hell that could have been done 4 months ago. It is such a simple fix its stupid that we did not address it at anytime.
An upgrade is available right now in the free agent market, guaranteed. I dont know his name, i just know that there is most definitely about 40 punters better than him looking for a shot.resnor likes this. -
Its just organizational stubbornness IMO. Want to wait to be validated, meanwhile… -
Other than a few punts in high school when our real punter got hurt, I've never been a kicker so I can't offer much insight. But I can tell you that they are highly routine-oriented and with COVID, I'm sure those routines got shaken up to some degree. Maybe that's why so many teams are struggling with kickers/punters this season?

The NFL should allow teams to recover their own punts. That would result in either long punts to just get rid of the ball down the far end of the field, or shorter high punts where the punting team can run and get under the ball and try to come down with it. High risk high reward football.
In terms of Miami's punting, our special teams weren't great this year... more coaching issues? -
I don't have any stats, it just seems like how good the punter does goes a long way to winning the game.
I know the Saints had a quarterback who didn't really have a chance, however, the punting in that game was excellent. -
Someone please explain to me again why we got rid of Matt Haack?
