He was not good. Even the announcers were all over him for most of the game. He is better than earlier this season? Is this a joke? Buffalo has a bad line too and a bunch of Wrs nobody has ever heard of. That hasn't stopped their QB [with less starts than Henne] from throwing 11 more TDs than interceptions. The coaches are morons too, but let's not pretend Henne didn't stink for three quarters.

 

I don't think he's the answer to Miami's QB problem. He's too easy to read for one, his PA routine is terrible and he seems to be developing a tendency to check down more often that I would prefer. Having said that, I do think he takes a lot of unwarranted flak from the fanbase - he's not a terrible QB and is almost certainly being hampered by some of our play calling.

 

I do think the coaching staff is more to blame and they all need to go except Mike Nolan. But, Fins should still jump on someone else because I still don't see too much in Henne, but who knows.

If I had to choose, I'd choose Henne over Henning/Sparano/"Dez, was your mom a whore?" Ireland. But I still don't trust him.

On that 2nd and 10 from the 30 when we were driving to kick a 50 yard field as per Sparano's wishes, he didn't trip the Buffalo CB when he was on the sidelines watching us kill a drive for no good reason.. I mean if he was a team player and truly loved this team, he would have followed the example of the Jets last week and got involved in that play... Henne SUCKS!!

He had some iffy decisions, like forcing the ball into some tight coverage zones, but he is a YOUNG quarterback. I dont give a crap what anyone says about 4 years at Michigan, it doesn't matter. He's still a YOUNG quarterback.

Apparently, Sparano told Henning to start pushing the ****ing ball downfield towards the end of the game. Result? Henne moves us UP and DOWN the field with ease.

Also the wildcat run with no motion on 2nd and 10 under 2:20 in the 4th was the greatest call I have ever seen.

I don't like Chad Henne. He isn't the QB of the future. He isn't the QB of next year. He can't make plays. He isn't smart. He doesn't read things well. He can't anticipate anything. He isn't successful unless his players are making plays. He misses too many big opportunities. He's too inconsistent.

Pushing the ball down the field? What game were you watching? Other than the Fasano throw, every play was made by a WR or RB getting YAC. Chad Henne couldn't complete a pass downfield to an open WR if his life depended on it. Hell, Chad Henne couldn't RECOGNIZE an open WR downfield if his life depended on it.

 

There's no consistency with him. We thought he was going to be a superstar after the first MNF game against the Jets last season. That is not materializing. He doesn't have to be a superstar now. But he is not getting better. As a matter of fact he certainly seems to be getting worse.

 

Agree that Henning is the far bigger problem, but Henne does not look like the answer at QB either.

He doesn't bounce back:

After an early INT, he leads us to 2 TD's.

He isn't a rhythm passer:

Goes for 9 straight completions. After Wildcat break, can't complete a difficult 3rd and 8(6?) throw.

He sucks:

The guy was playing inconsistent during the game with two WR's and a mediocre running game and when it got to crunch time, he went up and down the field. I don't give a **** how bad he starts the game. If a QB wins that game, **** YEAH!

A QB makes a team, but not vice versa:

How's that pass blocking going? Is Henning going to come out and say Henne didn't call the right block scheme? I saw guys get blown up. 3.9 and 2.7 YPC for the RB's isn't good.

The kid (keyword) bounced back from a jittery first half and did not turn the ball over again. If you can blame him for this loss I hate you (lol j/k). But seriously guys, this has been the constant refrain of this team. We put our players in bad spots then get mad at them for not performing. It's like we like to play situational football like at the end of the half, end of the game, and the 3rd down after the Wildcat. Why do we put our players into those spots?

Pushing the ball downfield doesn't mean deep throws. It means MOVING THE BALL DOWN THE FIELD. Henne MOVED US INTO THE BILLS TERRITORY 3 straight times when Henning told by Sparano.

You look at some of the decisions he made on that last god-awful drive. Throwing short. Throwing inbounds. Even without his arm being hit on the INT earlier, it was a bad decision to throw it there.

One of the beat writers noted live on a short checkdown to Polite, he missed Epps open in the endzone.

Rich Gannon, who knows something about playing quarterback at an MVP level, says Henne still locks onto his primary read. Stays there too long. And he kept pointing it out when it happened.

At least two of those sacks were on Henne per my memory. Hanging onto the ball too long.

That's a few off the top of my head. Nobody is excusing coaching. But the player shares in the blame. When someone like Rich Gannon is giving specific critiques of a player AND the playcalling, I have a hard time excusing either of them.

He had good and bad moments today. But you're asking what he did wrong. In short, he's inconsistent.

IMO, it's become clear he isn't the answer. If you want to stick with him, fine. I support whoever is the QB of my team. But I long for the answer.

OT: if you don't consider bad decision-making a valid criticism of a quarterback, I don't know what to tell you.

That's not true. Fitzpatrick has like 30+ starts, and 8 or more in 3 different seasons (this is his 1st with more TDs than INTs by the way).

The last drive sums up Henne all season long. I could agree with some of the supporters if it wasn't such a common occurrence. The guy lacks fire and consistency. Watching Henne try and manage a 2 minute drill is like watching frickin grass grow.

Henne by no means played well today, but he did play nice at the end. With better play calls at the end it could have been a different outcome. Not that it would have mattered, we aren't going to win the SB this year anyway. Just would have been nice to comeback and win at the end on a good close by our qb.

My thoughts on Henne and the coaches; Henne has only regressed since he's become our starter. I know he has his downfalls personally, but with good coaching he should have only got better. At one point Henne was very promising. For him to have only gotten worse makes me question the coaches. I know good players the GREAT players overcome bad situations and deal with it. But thats just it, Henne wasn't some great prospect at qb, he was a promising talent that needed to be coached to succeed. That has obviously not been the case.

I'm sure Henne is at fault himself to some extent, but isn't it the coaches job to get them to the next level. I don't think Henne just sucks and has failed all because he doesn't have talent or ability. He is inconsistent and can't progress his reads fast enough. This to me all reflects on the coaching. Henne has proven on occasion that he has the ability, and against good defenses. Just makes me wonder how much he has been stunted by negative coaching.

That said, I would only hope we make some BIG moves this off season on our coaching staff. If that means cleaning house I'm all for it. I would only hope we make a move at the qb position as well. Not saying dump Henne just bring in a quality qb, keep Henne here and see what happens under a better coaching staff. Say we get a rookie or go the way of veteran FA. Henne can compete for a starting job or just be groomed as a quality #2.

Either way Henne shouldn't be all to blame. Guy has had good moments and we or at least I can only wonder what could have been under better a coaching staff.

Not trying to say Henne was throwing down field or anything, but there wasn't exactly that many options on deep routes. The deepest were doubled and would you rather he throw there for a int? Then what would everyone be saying?

How about a spread offense? Maybe more than 3 or 4wr on the field? Nope, he is continuously set up for failure by the OC.
