That game was the closest I have ever gotten to not caring about football.

Still with the Packers game, that is why they teach people to knock the ball down.

I'm a moron (heard it here first!). That was most def. a devastating game. What's worse is the NFL sticking by the call.

 

Knocking down is also risky. In the last several years, we've seen a few instances in college AND the the NFL of guys knocking it right to a receiver. So much so that teams have begun to coach guys to stand in front of the play to try and catch it. This actually happened in the Wisconsin vs. Mich. St. game last year and Sparty won because of it.

I think going for the catch is the better move, because you have more control that way. You miss batting the ball down and it results in the worst thing possible which is a tip.

Great point. Wasn't the TD at the end of regulation between Titans and Lions result from a knock down?

Yep. In fact, I'd venture to guess that going for the knock down gives the receiving team a significantly better chance of a completion. Seems like to ONLY time you see Hail Mary's completed is when teams go for the knock down. Jacksonville got one a few years ago like this as well. Hell, I remember a game in 2007, first game of the year, and Jason Taylor batted it right to a Redskins player on the goal line. Luckily for him, the tackle was made before he crossed.

The Pittsburgh game a couple of years ago was probably the most painful game I have ever watched as a Dolphin fan. Love how Francis recovers the fumble clearly and that jack *** ref still makes that call. That loss was the turning point of that season for us. Pitt went on to the super bowl and we went on to flounder.

 

What made it more painful was that competition committee made a change recently before that season that the officials were supposed to delay blowing the whistle on calls to prevent THIS EXACT THING FROM HAPPENING.

If you recall, the rule was that after a whistle was blown, a recovery of a fumble could not be challenged. This is why they took the TD away, forcing Pitt to kick the FG. Had the side judge ran in and waited to see who recovered the fumble, he could've done so and STILL awarded Pitt the TD, which could've been later challenged.

Just a cluster**** of a play. I'm not still bitter about it or anything though.

Not defending Steratore, but the quick whistle came from the line judge or head linesman. I seem to recall his name being Jerry Bergman. I'm too lazy to go look it up though.

 

I think it is easier for the receiver to create a situation where it is a tie catching the ball than the two times in my life I have seen someone knock it down right to the receiver.

 

Ya gotta feel for Arodgers...it was only a matter of time before a game was decided by a bad call by these replacement guys...Are they very bad...no, but they aren't NFL caliber either... I'm glad that it got the NFL and the NFLRA working again...despite their claims to the contrary...

It was a **** call if there ever was one.

 

A few years ago, Vinny Testaverde was given a TD against the Seahawks, when he wasn't even close to crossing the goal line. This caused the Seahawks to miss the playoffs and for their coach, Dennis Erickson, to lose his job. So even though the Packers were robbed in this game, the Seahawks and their fans certainly know what it feels like to lose a game because of the incompetence of the referees. The difference was that when the Seahawks were robbed on the Testaverde Td, it was the regular refs who made the error and not replacement refs.

It is time for you to get over the loss. There is absolutely nothing you can do to change it and, the Packers will probably still make the playoffs this season.

Yes his head was close to the goal. Unfortunately for the Seahawks and the ref who signaled it was a TD, the ball was at least two yards from the goal line.

 

We got so ****ing jobbed against New Orleans they changed an entire rule.

 

I like most people think it was a bad call but I was thinking isn't there a rule where a tie goes to the receiver? Either way, wasn't much of a tie, the packers had it. Or am i mixing up a baseball rule about a tie going to the runner? lol.

As bad as the GB OL played you should feel sick. Still GB should have had a 12-7 win and I think most anyone who is not a Seahawk/Lions/Bears/Vikes fan will say so. Dont worry though,next time the replacement refs will call it strike 3 and send the opposing team to the foul line for 2 shots. Then there will be a shootout tiebreaker with your fattest OL playing goalie cause thats how Baseketfoothockey is played according to the refs. Seriously all you can do is shake your head and blame the NFL since most of these guys havent even refereed at a D3 level. Its the leagues fault for putting these poor scrubs in this position.

 

Why is it the NFL's fault that the NFLRA wants things like back pay for games they didn't referee, and want to be paid more than full-time NFL employees for a part-time job?

 

Because the NFL doesn't have to lock them out
