About YouTube highlight vids on players but my god I am super impressed with this kid Caroo. Haven't been here in a while, anyone else excited about this kid? He plays with such anger I love it. I hope he gets major playing time this season.

Nobody is talking about Drake, Carroo..... These are two guys that have all world talent but haven't gotten much attention for one reason or another. Watch Drake's highlights as well. You'll be impressed by his speed and athleticism.... Looks like a Reggie Bush clone. I haven't gotten to Carroo yet... I'll do that ASAP.

Yeah, a more explosive Anquan Boldin is what scouts say. I'm not saying that there is even such a thing, but he's tough and can catch the ball very well. His efficiency for last year's stats are impressive.
Mainstream draft pundits failed to identify this kid as a legit high pick. I never even heard of the kid till we drafted him. Then all the draft gurus are like, "oh yeah, he's a top three WR prospect."
What!?! It seems like there's an unholy draft smokescreen, wherein talking heads can't talk about the real hidden gems until Belichek drafts them.
They didn't even invite Jakeem Grant to the combine, which is a ridiculous slight considering his stats.
You'll like him, Harley. He's got that dark spirit of Rutgers working for him. Ultra angry and violent...

I too am excited for Carroo. I think he and Tunsil will be good players. Both are super athletic and technically strong.

best over-all draft in dolphin history & the coaches inspire hope for an awesome season ahead.

I think Carroo and the juice should get along fine, they have a few similarities and maybe Juice can teach this dude the ropes.

What I really liked
1) He was making catches in traffic with DBs all over him
2) He was catching badly placed balls, showing a really good catch radius
3) He showed athletic superiority even against some top college Ds.
For me that's the holy trinity for what I want to see in the highlight reel.
I still want to see his lowlight reel. I want to see where he struggled before getting excited.Pandarilla, dolfan7171 and Finster like this. -
The only thing I didn't like about the Carroo pick was that we didn't take him instead of Drake and mortgage the future, besides that he is easily my 2nd favorite pick to Tunsil, I think he is going to be a fine pro, and has a very high ceiling, he has traits of Matthews and Landry and has the capability to be better than either.
I'm as excited as I've been in a very long time about one of our drafts. -

The reason I went and watched the the vids is because I was on vacation last week and had my fins pullover on and some dude comes up to me and starts telling me what a great player we got and he's gushing all over him. Turns out the guy is a Rutgers alumni, I would say he was in his mid 50s and pretty level headed so it wasn't some 21 year old kid acting like an excitable little school girl

My favorite pick from the draft. Plays with so much aggression. Doesn't do any dancing, just catches the ball and turns up field wrecking people.
We should draft more Jersey kids. You know we're talented people. :shifty:dolfan7171 and Ronnie Bass like this. -
He is the perfect 2nd receiver, IMO.
I like the #1 guy to have at least one elite ability, like speed or catching contested balls or getting open or physically crushing DBs, etc., while being good at everything else.
I like the #2 guy to be solid at everything. Doesn't need elite abilities, just be good at things. Like for them to be savvy.
I like the #3 guy/slot guy to be every thing Landry is. -
Personally, I see a bigger, faster, stronger Landry with better hands.the 23rd likes this. -
He looks good. Note at 2.00 in this video his sole weakness is identified as passivity at the catch point. https://youtu.be/WMVSuNs3K7U?t=2m

I like the Carroo pick, but he has a long way to go to be better than Landry. Landry has done it in the NFL the last two years. I've never seen a receiver fight for yards the way Landry does and he's only getting better.
I know that Carroo has claimed he has had only had 3 drops during his college career and that is a lot to get excited about.
The thing to be really excited about is your receiving corp is Landry, Parker, Stills, Carroo and quite possibly Grant. That is a crazy bunch of talented guys to have in one meeting room.Pandarilla, Agua and dolfan7171 like this. -
He's taken balls away from Ohio State defenders in other youtubes...and that's with Buckeyes knowing he was their only real threat. He's as underrated as they come... -
The FO gave up what they did because they believe he will be better than Landry, which is 4 picks, 2 3rds, a 4th and a 6th, which is equivalent to a 1st round pick, imo his floor is near where Landry is now.
I look at where Carro is now compared to Landry when he came out, Carroo was easily better in college, and it shows on tape, he played vs the #1 CBs all the time while Landry was always playing vs the #2, and they just couldn't stop Carroo, he is built to be an NFL WR, and just like Landry, will be NFL ready, and will be a boundary starter in his 1st year, imo.Pandarilla and Pauly like this. -
Firstly the video shows Carroo dropping 2 passes, and it"s been said that Carroo only dropped 3 passes total in college.
The other example shown is where the QB throws directly at the CB, and Carroo still makes an effort to get the ball despite it being badly placed.
It seems to me to be an effort to stitch together 3 outlier examples into a story.
Of Course of Carroo*s true drop number is higher than claimed it could be true that he's passive, but there is other film showing Carroo fighting for the ball too.
Considering the drop numbers (which haven't been disputed as far as I can tell) I'd want to see some more examples of passivity before declaring Carroo as a passive catcher.cuchulainn and dolphin25 like this. -
we'll see, your stating a big projection on Carroo being the better player than juice at the next level..
we could only hope, but I don't see it, theres a quickness , dexterity and agility to juice that is great. -
Landry has lived up to his billing as a 2nd round pick, projecting a WR to be better than Landry isn't such a big deal as all that, Matthews was better than Landry last year before he got hurt, Parker was better after Matthews got hurt, Carroo is like a carbon copy of Matthews, with better potential.
As far as who was better in college, that's a one horse race;

500 more yds and twice as many TDs in 10 fewer games, not to mention 6 yds more per catch, and more rec per game, it's not even close.
The FO, as I was saying in the other comment, is obviously banking on Carroo to be better than Landry, spending 4 picks on him, and if he doesn't end up better than Landry it will have been a bad trade.Pandarilla likes this. -
What's even more ridiculous? I remember watching his combine interview and they were questioning his football smarts. His response?
Oh, I put up those numbers with four different offensive coordinators, running four different systems. Hahaha...So yeah, he's pretty knowledgeable as well. Rarely do you see a scout use the word nuance when talking about a college receiver.
He's so gonna replace Stills...Hell, Jakeem Grant might replace Stills.
we're filthy talented at Receiver all of a sudden. -

Gonna see a ton of 4 wide this year. Have to with the kind of talent we have at WR.
Parker, Carroo, Landry, Stills
If RT17 can have a minimum 3 secs, we should have an insane offense.resnor likes this. -
I'm not saying he is passive at the point of the catch. I'd never heard of the guy before the draft and the only thing I've seen of him are the highlight clips. I just wanted to point out that someone believed he could be robbed of the ball easily by challenging the reception. If true, that's a concern. May not be true at all. Just looked to me like he had outstanding coverage and he could have placed his body a little better, with the exception of the TD where he really didn't fight at all. Everybody has mental lapses. -
Take it a step further, if Grant does get on the field, he can really crank up the 5 wide set, taking the underneath on the opposite side of Landry, and bringing a whole other danger element, waterbug alert, lol.
The potential is best WR corps in the league, each WR fitting in their perfect role, scary good potential.Pandarilla likes this. -
Potentially, with this WR corps, he will be even more effective, a lot less catches, but much more effective with the catches he does make because attention will be pulled away from him by Parker and Carroo, it's all a pretty exciting prospect. -
People gonna have to be patient with this draft class to see the merits of it. Unfortunately fans and media aren't the greatest at having that sort of patience.
This time next year we could legit be looking at a situation where Laremy Tunsil was "alright" as a guard, Xavien Howard got burnt a lot as a rookie, Kenyan Drake didn't play a ton and was a decent punt return man and ran a few jet sweeps on offense, Leonte Carroo maybe caught 15-20 passes, and guys like Jakeem Grant, Thomas Duarte, Jordan Lucas and Brandon Doughty made the roster but didn't really play. Maybe Jakeem on kickoff returns.
But fast forward three years and that's where you could see that Laremy Tunsil is a top tier left tackle, Xavien Howard plays well in the system, Leonte Carroo is a starter, Jakeem Grant handles punt returns and gets 50 touches a year on offense, Thomas Duarte is a solid TE #2 and Brandon Doughty is the primary backup to Tannehill.Pandarilla, RoninFin4, gafinfan and 6 others like this. -
Yeah, Dolphins fans and the word "patience" don't really go together.
But we can hope. -
-
Basing off the value chart and considering that next year's draft carries the same weight as this year's draft (IMO, not true, it's worth less), gets you about 300 points traded away which is equivalent to a low 2nd.eltos_lightfoot likes this. -
