I said before in certain situations Sean Smith could match up with a TE. Not every play obviously, but sure passing downs against some of the better receiving TE threats.

 

I would rather have Davis on the TE. If there was a run to that side Davis would at least have a chance of shutting it down while Smith most likely would be trying to make back tackles.

 

i'm a huge fan of Clemons so I'm all for it. If he's ready. If not I would try Culver

 

Davis could cover him stride for stride, but he is a size disadvantage. I don't want to see the TE catching balls over him. With Sean Smith I'm pretty sure the TE won't even get his hands on the ball.

Not a knock on Smith as a CB, he's doing great. But he'd be a great safety too. And it would solve a major problem this year. and possibly for years to come.

 

I would look into converting Sean Smith to safety in the off season
He is very athletic,hits like a train,can cover while Clemons can also get a good look thus allowing Vonte to start along side of Will Allen(IF RESIGNED)

Maybe Vonte could convert to safety over Smith but either way I cannot grasp a poorer saftey duo against the pass than Wilson and Bell(to bad mgmt invested $$$$$$ in these two clowns with feet of concrete.

 

I thought Jones looked horrible last night also. If Jason Allen can't get in on that, he needs to be cut yesterday, special teams play be damned.

 

Um, Wilson hasn't been bad in coverage (Bell has been worse in fact), Wilson's problems have been in tackling.

Smith's problem is tackling. He's even worse at it than what Wilson has displayed the past two games.

Smith is not the answer at S (FS or SS).

 

So Far Jake Grove and Gibril Wilson have been disappointing. There were plays last night where Grove committed a false start and they called off-sides on Indy. We got lucky there. This just goes to show, the Raiders are bad for a reason and we need to stop picking up their cast-offs.

I agree that his issue is tackling but watching him with the Dolphins and in college, I don't think he's worse than Wilson. He can tackle, tackle pretty well too. He's just not a consistent one and not a guy who could roaming and lay the wood in the middle of the field.

 

Don't care. Wilson proved last night that he can't make a play, even if the play is made for him.

How in the **** do you not catch that INT before half? That play cost us 3 points, and all he had to do was catch a ball that was deflected right to him.

 

I am thinking Vontae on the TE. Vontae can play both sides and follow the TE wherever he goes..

The key, however, is re-routing the TE. Knock him back a few steps (within 5 yards) and throw off the timing. They used to to that all the time to McMike when he was one of our better receivers.

After Monday night, I definitely think it's time to bench Wilson and give Clemons a shot. He's almost certain to make rookie mistakes, but he brings speed and athleticism to the position, which complements Bell nicely.

And seriously: rookie mistakes and all, how could he possibly be any worse than Wilson played last night?

 

he had it cradled at that point though. I mean not just touching his hands, it was tucked away already and he still let it slide out.

i expect a professional with a super bowl ring and millions of dollars to be able to hold onto a ball after hes got it tucked away. That was a very easy interception and he let it hit the ground.

In a reverse situation, you know Sean Smith catches that.

 

I don't know that at all, and no it wasn't an easy interception IMO. Jones' drop was a much easier INT.

 

Hell I can take a rookie making mistakes but when a vet makes rookie mistakes, thats just unacceptable, hell peewee football players could tackle better than Wilson.

Jones could have returned that for a TD.

 

I don;t agree with comparing what an average guy can do to expectations of a $27million NFL player.
