Maybe a new address will improve his attitude this time. I.E. Moss / Patriots. We can only hope so as its been proven this guy is a walking time bomb.

don't get me wrong, we will continue to primarily build thru the draft .... but what we need now is finite pieces -- this is where the rowing gets hard, and you need to turn over many rocks to find the right piece to make it work.

It a major problem if players start to think that what their coaches tell them is full of crap.

This is why you must not say one thing, and do another as an organization. You lose credibility.

And for those who disagree, I'll remind you of this if the team 'just looks flat' later in the year and everyone's up in arms saying "Why isn't the team responding to their Head Coach??" Like last year, when Porter created doubt in the players minds about the coaching staff.

Loss of credibility in a lockerroom is like ****ing poison to a coaching staff. Bad move signing a guy who is NOT disciplined on the field, and a ********.

I've seen quotes of him saying that a far back as 2004, when he was suspended in college.... before he got the ax from the Rams... and the Bills, two horrible teams desperate for talent who wouldn't put up with this guy's crap.

So anything he says for the 1000th time means nothing to me. He has never backed it up.

 

Don't know what specifically the player is referring to as to what they've been told, but Incognito has done nothing as a member of the Dolphins. Yes, he obviously has a past. But, he hasn't done anything that would go against what any current player has been instructed or advised with respect to their behavior. Whether he does eventually or not remains to be seen. And if he does, then I would hope that he would be shown the door or else you do get in a situation where the organization loses credibility. But, my main point is that, as a Dolphin, he has done nothing to go against what the organization has told the players.

But who Incognito is is totally inconsistent with what the front office and coaching staff says it is looking for when it wants players.

That's the incongruity I think.

He is undisciplined, costs his team with selfish outbursts and has done so for years, and is not of a character I'd deem 'high'. That is, would *I* want this kid dating my daughter? Hell no. That's not a high character guy. That's a psycho who can;t control his rage.

 

To be fair, Incognito, as far as I know, doesn't have any off field incidents.

 

He obviously has anger control issues, but he doesn't have 5 kids in 4 states or fights dogs or is accused of rape multiple times. Does his anger issues make him a thug or hoodlum ?? I'm not so sure. One thing I'm sure of is that we are a little better team with him than we were last season...How much better can't be answered now without major speculation. But even if he's just a depth guy, he's improved the team...

 

The only off the field thing I have heard was that he was called as a witness in a steroid ring case.

Seriously.

And that's only as a witness, but the combination of that with his rage problem certainly adds up.

 

LS, i have to disagree with you ... we plugged one major hole at ILB ...

Now we still have OLB, S and WR to make us VERY competitive THIS year.

Our OL will be very, very good .... our DL is very serviceable (Starks/Soliai/McDaniel can fill a void at NT in the near term).

Marshall can still be had - Bryant might be there at 12 .... Boomer is very high on Worilds in rd 2, but might not be there .... then there still are some stop gap options at S ....

Yes brother .... it can very much be done THIS year ....

Folks really clamour for a better TE, but we can manage with what we have ... Sperry showed some promise, Nalbone has had a year to develop, and Fasano and Haynos are solid blockers.

W. Allen returns and should shore up our CB play ...

to be truthful, the position that worries me most is RB .... can Ronnie stay healthy, how often will Ricky fumble (because without a doubt he always has and always will due to his short arms). Who is going to be the COP back ??

I can see us holding out for Bryant at 12 ... then trading down to pick up another late 2d/early 3d -- then trading our 1st rd pick for Marshall. Then going OLB, S in rds 2/3.

Again, my friend .... it can be done NOW ....

 

The letdown last year was partially due to some players not believing in the message anymore.

This signing adds to the loss of credibility IMO.

 

I think his anger issues could just be immaturity. No one (that I have seen) has had an issue with his playing ability. If this kid can learn to play angry and not get stupid with it he could really help out any position on our line. I also think that the one year contract was a smart move.

 

And that message must have been to tackle in the 4th Quarter.:up:

 

I would love to see Miami pick up Notre Dame Center, Eric Olsen. John Denney is getting old and Olsen is a long snapper who can play any O-line position. He gives us great flexibility. I have never seen so much talent at all positions in an NFL Draft.

I think he everybody is really overblowing Incognito's incidents. Don't get me wrong, I don't think his past deeds should be swept under the rug. But people are acting as if he had domestic violence issues or something of the sort.

 

I don't know CT, but it did not look like that to me...

Last year a "player" decided to go against the coaches wishes... because he thought he was better than the team and made better decisions than the coaches...

This new player has not been in trouble with the law, as others have said and I have not found any evidence to prove this wrong...

The coaches have signed this player a one year low cost contract, and the only thing that I see is better competition in the OL... maybe some of those OL guys might feel intimidated that their coaches have really stepped up their talent search...

 

I agee. Alot of over reacting and reaching imo.

 

The trenches are the places where players are allowed to be dirty. The Raiders and Steelers of the 70's showed that. You want a crazy guy who will slap down a player after the block (hopefully when the ref isn't looking) and just freak out. The attitude doesn't translate to other positions. DB's would get flagged all the time. OLB's can't even throw grass on a QB without a flag. The lines are the only places where referees rarely try to protect and excessive crazy/abusiveness translate into a good player.

 

I agree 100%.

I was a lineman and remember the mud thrown in the face, the thumb grabs, and the punches in the armpit. It's all part of the game. Not the football game that you see, the game in the trenches that you don't see.

Larry Csonka remains my favorite Dolphin to this day, and there were days that he was pretty dirty in his own right. I remember a game in Buffalo in 1972 when he punched a DB right in the throat while running the ball into the redzone. There used to be film footage on youtube of Shula telling the story of how 'The Zonk' became the only running back to be flagged for unnecessary roughness / personal foul.

This Incognito isn't that unique.
