Mike Mayock released his top 100 today, and he has also updated his position standings. He moved up Chandler Jones to the #1 DE above Quentin Coples, and moved Shea McClellin to #1 OLB above Melvin Ingram. What do you guys think of these shifts? I have seen many mock drafts saying that we get Coples instead of Tannenhill, but with this list it now brings attention to McClellin and Jones. Chances we get Jones @8?

i really dont get into the whole draft guru stuff since none of them know what is or isnt going to happen.

Shea McClellin is the most versatile OLB in this draft, IMO. He can cover very well, is a great rusher, can stop the run. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes round 1.

I dont see Tanny dropping beyond the Chiefs. There seems to be a lot of smokescreening going on

19 is still, at a minimum 20 spots too high for Tannehill.......IJSPandarilla likes this. -

DeCastro might be the very most complete player coming into this draft. He really belongs in top 5, top 10 at the VERY least.Fin Fan In Cali likes this. -
Normally, I'd be irate if we selected a guard in the top ten but DeCastro could be THAT GOOD. -
Sorry, but I dont see the problem with taking a guard at 8. You cant get a great one in FA because they get tagged and resigned or WAY overpaid in the event they are let go. If he is the best or highest rated player when its our turn, you take him. He fills a big need for us.

Honestly I'd never take a guard in the early-mid first round, but DeCastro has the talent to be a HOF player in my opinion. He more than fills a need. Put him next to Jake Long and you have the most dominant left side in football. Put him on the right side and any RT becomes instantly better. Also in my opinion Pouncey needs a guy who can help push NT's off the ball in short yardage situations. -
I think many of you are confusing a top 100 list and a mock of the first 100 picks.
-
He has DeCastro rated at #24 when in reality he is probably the best prospect behind Luck and maybe Richardson. -

Obviously EVERY single player in the draft is a question mark until they actually step on the field and show they can play at the NFL level. Some have more questions than others. My view is that Tannehill is more of a risk than a number of the players who will most likely still be on the board at #8. Of course that is my opinion and I realize you and many others on here are willing to take the risk on Tannehill at 8.
Now all we have to do is wait and see if Ireland agrees with you or with me. Thursday can't get here fast enough for me, so we can all see what the Dolphins are going to do.MrClean likes this. -
Edit: I am willing to take a risk on Tannehill because QB is important. I am not one who believe that the Dolphins must draft Tannehill. I also think reasoning that he is the 19th ranked player in a draft is more of a reason to take him at 8 then it is against. Especially in this draft when after the top 6 players, the rest look to be about the same level up to 25. -
Mayock gets me, the way he is constantly changing his value board or top 5 at each positions, multiple times every week. It makes me think he isn't going by his personal evaluation of the players, but instead by what he hears on various players in the rumor mill.
He always likes to put some off the wall choices in there, for whatever reason. The last top 5 safeties he put out was: Barron, Smith, Brandon Taylor, Menzie and Phillip Thomas. If you've followed the safety rankings since the end of the season, that is just bizarre, other than Barron and Smith. Granted, Taylor, Menzie and Thomas could be the next 3 best when all is said and done, but what have they done to deserve to be moved up since their last games were played? None of them have produced any dynamic Pro Day workouts that would indicate a need to move them up a value board either. Taylor for example had 2nd worst short shuttle and 2nd worst 3 cone for safeties at the combine. Since then he slightly improved his 3 cone to what would be a middle of the pack time. So that's enough to vault him past Iloka and Martin I guess. Menzie played corner at Alabama, and I've never seen him graded a top ten corner, and yet now Mayock makes him his 4th safety. National Football Post ranks Menzie as the 43rd corner, but he is Mayock's 4th safety, for a few days anyway. He changes his top 5 rankings like most people change their underwear. Phillip Thomas is a FS I like, but he runs in the 4.7s and I've never seen him ranked higher than a 6th rounder, but he is top 5 at the position for Mayock.
This nonsense makes me more likely to watch ESPN's draft coverage this year.Alex44 likes this.
