Make of these what you will...
* Henne has a career QB rating of 76.2 & has thrown 24 TDs, & 29 Ints. Jets QB Mark Sanchez has a 70.5 QB rating (28TDs-31 Ints)
* Henne has a QB rating of 99 against the blitz
* In the 4 instances (SD, Jets, Buf) where Chad Henne has had a QB rating lower than 50 in a loss he's responded with a victory the next week.
* Henne has thrown 10 of his 15 interceptions on his own end of the field. Two of his interceptions have come in the red zone
* Henne's 2-1 against the Jets in his brief career & has a QB rating of 130.4, 87.8, & 91.4 (the lone loss) in those 3 games.
Considering Henne's history against the blitz-happy Jets, our penchant for winning on the road, and his habit of bouncing back after horrible outings (which ironically, is part of his biggest problem; inconsistency) I'd say there's a good shot of Miami winning on Sunday.
P.S. Sanchez has a track record of struggling in the Meadowlands late in the year. Keep an eye out for the possibility that he continues his stretch of crappy play on Sunday.

It's hard to say Mark Sanchez has a track record of anything, this is only his 2nd season.

If only he could get consistenet. I really want to see him do good but I have been on his *** lately because it's just too up and down for a team I had playoff hopes for. I am really hoping for 9 TDS and 2-3INTs in the last 4 games. if he can do that I am okay with him being our starter next year with a new OC and hope he is given the chance.
-
i still say sanchez is better and most of his ints came last year. he has an ability to keep a play alive and he hits the open guy pretty well. the kid makes the most of his chances while chad does not
-
And yet you say Henne does....lol
-
In the last 7 games, Sanchez and Henne have thrown the same number of INT's and Sanchez has one more TD than Henne in that period.hugoguzman and Rhody Phins Fan like this. -
ok but in sanchez' first 4 games he threw for 8 tds and no ints. the opening post is talking about their careers, but sanchez threw 20 picks in his first year. also, its not the picks that bother me with henne, its the lack of tds
-

Sanchez was gifting picks to the other team through the first four games, and people kept dropping them.

For the record... Sanchez played the first 5 games w/o an INT. Since then... he has thrown at least 1 INT in each of the last 7 games... and has thrown a total of 11 INTs over that period.
He hasnt been playing well... -
I said he has a track record of something?? Lol!!
-
Ted Ginn was good against the Jets too..
No worries, if anything they won't blitz as much with two safeties out.
When the window is broken, it is broken, you cannot unbreak it, what he does the following week is not really very important.
How many of those 10 int's led to points for the opponents?
Ryan is no dummy I'd be surprised if he blitzes very often.
Hopefully, cold and windy day that means Sanchez cannot take shots downfield.
w/w/l/l/w/l/w/l/w/l/w/l.....
Come on Henne, win vs Jets would cure a ton of ills.hugoguzman likes this. -
Exactly. Sanchez caught a lot of good breaks on picks that should have been reeled in. Henne has caught a lot of bad breaks with tipped passes almost always being reeled in by the opposing team.
Not saying this excuses him. But the stat line for his ints is pretty inflated with "That could have happened to anyone" type plays.
That being said, there are other problems with Henne such as his downfield accuracy or ignoring open targets that aren't so easily dismissed. -
Wait, you say what Henne does after a bad performance isn't very important. (Which I don't get, how is playing well after a bad game "not important")
But...then you say beating the Jets cures a ton of ills.

Thing is, as bad as Chad's day was Sunday, Sanchez was worse on Monday!

I would have to give the edge to Sanchez at this stage because he does have the ability to stretch plays and be more effective in the red zone.
Also he seems to play better in pressure situations when the game is on the line.
Having said that I am not convinced either QB will ever be a top notch QB.
I agree that Henne will probably have one of his better games against the Jets .DolfanJake and hugoguzman like this. -
He has played twice in late season at the Meadowlands. 1-1 record.
-
Put Henne on the Jests and Sancheez on the Dolphins (God forbid), and I think the results would be very interesting. My best guess...Henne has better overall numbers (including more TD's than picks). As for Sancheez, well...who cares. :tongue2:

Rex Ryan may not be dumb, but he is arrogant beyond belief. While it's the easiest way to win this game, there's no way they do it.Zod likes this.

So basically, you are saying the Jets are more talented.

We'll see on Sunday.

The sad thing is that you think a 99 rating against a blitz is good. BTW cnnsi has him down for an 84.1 rating against the blitz this year. Not very good. Tom Brady is 99, Matt Cassel has a 108.9, Sanchez 88.3, michael vick 99.6. Henne isn't very good at anything.

Uh huh. Care to post some of those juicy stats he posted in those two games? I'll do it for you:
vs. Atlanta: 18 of 32 (56.3%) for 226 yards with 1 TD and 3 INTs and a 49.7 passer rating
vs. Cincinnati: 8 of 16 (50%) for 63 yards with 0 TD and 0 INTs for a 60.2 passer rating
Not a huge sample size, admittedly, but there's a reason why even your own media and fan base have questioned Sanchez' ability to play in the elements late in the season. Hell, look at how he did last week on a rough winter night in New England. -
Exactly, I have said I do not trust Chad Henne the Qb, but I also would love for him to show me something in these last 4 games
-
On offense, definitely. Moreover, they have a better offensive scheme/coaching.
Defensively, I'm not so sure, especially after the embarrassment we witnessed on Monday night.and The G Man like this. -
it's about games won.thats the be all stat and henne is extremely inconsistant in that department.the only 2 games we have won in a row this year were our first 2.after that it's lose, win, loss, loss, win, loss(not exact but you get my point).the difference is sanchez has put together more than a one win streak.
-
Wins and losses are teams stats. Trying to judge any player using a team stat will get you skewed results every time.
Dilfer is better tha Marino because he won a Super Bowl.
Tom Brady is better than Dan Fouts because Brady has won more games.
Elway was better than both Marino and P. Manning because he has more wins.
None of those things make sense, right? -
they definitely dont have a better scheme. i watch them every week and shotty is one of the worst OCs in the league. what they do have is a running game and one of the best olines in the gameDolfanJake and The G Man like this.
-
The Patriots they are not, but their offense is put together MUCH better than ours scheme wise. IMO.hugoguzman likes this.

I dunno E. Ryan was smart enough to call off the dogs at the end of the first game this year. They started out in that typical aggressive coverage scheme, and Henne torched their asses for much of the game. But when the game was on the line those last two plays he dropped 8 and only sent 3. Our OC guessed the blitz was coming and max protected both plays, so the Jets had 8 defenders to cover our 3 receivers in a very confined area. Not surprisingly, no one was open and we went INC on 3rd and INT on 4th. Or as the Henne bashers would say, Chad choked in the clutch.
I have a hard time believing the Jets will be dumb enough to man up and blitz Henne, there's always hope though. The Raiders did it, but these aint the Raiders. -
Some more Henne stats:
*13-11 as a starter in his career
*5-3 against Division opponents
*61.3% career completion percentage
*Peyton Manning stated off his career with 26 TD, 28 INT (not comparing him to Peyton, just putting a point across that it takes time for a lot of QBs to become anything and prove their worth) -

Don't really get comparing Henne to Sanchez. Like comparing the Pirates to the Orioles. Do you want what either one has put on the field? No.
The difference between the Jets and Dolphins is the Jets have simply been a better overall team.
I agree with Hugo - in general - on this one. But, I would think the game would be closer if the Jets-Pats game was more of a war than it was. It was so bad, I think the Jets have just buried it in the past and are going to come out with great fervor and concentration this week. So, I'd still favor them at home, but I do think if Henne turns it around we have a good chance. It hurts that Hartline is out and if Marshall can't go ... could be a lot of trouble regardless of the past.hugoguzman likes this.
