this is good news if he continues to progress (from omars blog)
DT Paul Soliai - Holly smokes! Those were the two words that consistently came to me every time I watched Soliai hold up the point, effectively taking on two linemen, who failed to move him. For those who are new to this blog let me clue you in on a few things. First, I'm a lover of line play. I watch the 300-pounders do their work regularly. Second, I'm not a big fan of Soliai the nose tackle because I can count on one hand the amount of games he's actually moved an offensive lineman a few feet. And for the record, last weekend's game against Buffalo was game No. 3. That strong showing earned last year's fourth-round pick double the playing time against the 49ers, and Soliai rewarded his coaches with a dynamic performance that could possibly help save his NFL career. Two more games like that and I'm crossing nose tackle off the team's list of needs. I don't know who has been working with Soliai, who has been suspended twice this season, but that person deserves a hand clap.

It takes time to develop a NT in the NFL, in some ways they are like Qb's, it just takes time to learn the nuances of being the cornerstone of the Dline with the possibility of being hit by any one of three Olineman, or even two of them.
That said...come on man...Soliai has a long row to hoe before he is even back with the team next season. -
he has one huge thing going for him. lack of competition. -
Okay... so who do we have to lock Ernest Wilford in a room with, next?

Who could Soliai be learning from that would be better than Ferg? If Soliai can keep it going we should be getting better against the run through these last two games. Starks is under-rated too, he's been a really good playmaker!

I think Soliai needs more time to develop...he certainly shows flashes, now if he can learn to be consistent with Fergy here, we may have something in the future...but it's too early to throw him out yet...
