Ireland on Ginn

aie ya aie aie... Just read this Im so disappointed in the tone of the article. It sounds like Ted Ginn is going to get another shot in a FINS uniform next year.
Hes going to become a cancer on the offense, other players see his "weakness" scared to get hit mentality. Giving up on games, and half efforts and he keeps his job!
I sure hope this is smoke and mirrors and hes traded for a 4th or 5th rounder (Cut our losses) and we draft 2 Wideouts and Pick up 2 Free agents to battle in camp.
Ginn does not deserve another chance. He's never going to be a true #1 or #2 in Miami. Some will disagree but I have seen enough of him and Cam Cameron was wrong im not in love with the guy regardless or his Jets performance.

Ted Ginn was #10 in the NFl in all purpose yardage, and that is with not returning kicks until Game #5.
A full season as a KR/WR and he will be in the top 5 in all purpose yards in the nfl along with names like Chris Johnson and Ray Rice...

wow i cant believe Ireland didnt come here first so that the board could teach him player eval skills and inform of the inabilies of Ginn.
i think ginn needs a paycut or get gone, but Ireland has proven to know more than i or anyone else on this board.
if he comes and says teddy doesnt have it, what value does teddy have if teams believe we dont like him? yeah theyd be jumping at a 3 to 5 rd pick right? or Ireland can bld him up and hope he can get a rd highr by creating a belief
or he can be talkin from seeing him w/ insider knowledge.
who knows but the triage, time will tell -

Whoa, guys, Jeff Ireland is the GM of one of the most storied franchises in NFL history! Do you think he is going to publicly denigrate a player regardless of his true evaluations of that said player???
And what does "like" translate into? Does he like his work ethic? Does he like his attitude? Does he like the way Teddy puts on his jock strap??? I like PB & J sandwiches. Doesn't mean I am going to eat them every day for lunch. Just because Ireland says he likes a player, does not mean that player will be in a Dolphins' uni next year. How many players did Sparano cut this year after lauding them via the media?
Teddy Ginn has really gotten under the skin of Dolphins fans, eh? :)Bpk likes this. -
WR is still one of our weakest positions - and other than Ginn is full of 4 possession guys. Cutting him because he is "scared" or not a "true #1" solves one problem - personal vendettas.
Even if Ginn gives us his 2008 performance (800 yds, some big plays and big KR) he is worth his contract.
Speaking of his contract - why does everyone complain about his salary when he made similar or less than Charlie Anderson, Jason Allen and Akin Ayodale this year? -
Gawd, I've never wished for anything as much as I am wishing for Ginn to be shipped out of town.
I don't know if I can deal with another year of his ball dropping-***** footing-afraid to take a hit way.
Sorry Ginn apologists.
Commence the defending of Ginn and bashing of me. -
You guys wanting to cut ginn have no sense of football business. This is his salary for this past year and years next.
If you think at $1M he is not worth it, well I don't know what to think. -
:sidelol: This is like when you talk up the ugly little cottage you're trying to flip right on the edge of the ghetto.
You pretty up the outside with a new coat of paint, plant some shrubs and post the sign; but you know in your heart that buyers are gonna walk in, see the rusty pipes and fried electric wires and bolt.

but as for ginn, he let us down. But then again, so did about 48 other players on the team this year. Those last few games were an embarrassment. Ginn sucked this year, no doubt. but he gets way too much blame.Gitrdone, Colorado Dolfan, jdang307 and 1 other person like this. -

Guys he had 434 yards on 34 catches for 1 touchdown this year, think about that for a second....The number 9 draft pick by Cam Cameron in 2007, was Ginn, and his family....Here is a hint Jeffrey boy, time to rework that contract brother, time to free up a coupe of dollars from Mr. Ginn and his family, for this years spot at 12. This is why I cringe at Dez Bryant, and wait before everybody is like "Ohh Dez is cant miss"....what was people saying about Teddy? If they are going to do WR this year, do it right....trade picks for a proven commodity....no more of these Ginn/Pat Turner experiments....2 words Mike Wallace.... -

But since YOU brought it up, 1600 receiving yards Ginn, 1135 Vincent.Rhody Phins Fan likes this. -
2- Since you have all the answers, how exactly would you go about re-working his contract? I would love to see how or where you would free up any money by reworking his contract. Factor in that the money for the #12 pick is allocated in the rookie pool, so the money Ginn would be paid is nearly irrelevant in regards to that pick. Oh but I'm sure you knew that since you know exactly what Jeff means beyond the face value of his words. Two Tacos, Colorado Dolfan, GridIronKing34 and 1 other person like this. -

So you are also saying you'd rather Ginn than Jackson? -
-
Not sure how you got that I'd rather have Ginn anyways from what you quoted, talk about putting words in my mouth.GridIronKing34 and jdang307 like this. -
All Ginn really shows is that he can take a couple of kicks back for TD's, drop alot of balls and play scared most of the time. -
GinnJr is a very likable guy who cannot play @ this level
Move on. Get over it. He's history.
Ireland is only trying to resuscitate his trade value  -
Here is an interesting article about WR and their development in the league - showing that 20% of receivers in this span had their breakout year in year 4.
http://www.footballdocs.com/WR_three_year_rule.html
Not saying Ginn is due a breakout year - but for a guy with a learning disability who has seen his OC change and his QB change 4-5 times, his slow development isn't exactly surprising.
Also - isn't McFadden pretty much the RB version of Ginn? Why does everyone want to do a swap? -
The money is not the issue here. Ted Ginn's salary for this upcoming year is very manageable. Personal vendettas aside, Ginn does bring to the table a very unique skill set. And there is something to be said about having someone with Ginn's skill set on your team. Granted that Ginn himself has not made the best use of said skills. However, I'm pretty certain that we will see Ted Ginn Jr. on this team next year. His trade value is low and it's going to be a longshot to get any other team to give us something for him. And you simply do not cut Ted Ginn Jr. when you have Bess, Hartline, Camarillo and Turner at WR. The point being here, it's not about "giving him another chance" it's not about "being a Ginn apologist" it's about where else do you bring in someone with his skill set? And Ireland is correct in seeing the worth of having Ginn on the roster. At least that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.
