There have been many threads on the woes of the offensive line as it relates to the running game. I certainly am not a analyst like some of the other posters on this board but I do watch all the Phins games. It appears to me that the biggest difference from this year to last year is we are nut running behind Jake. Most of the running plays appear to be going to the right side. Jake was also used alot more last year especially in the Wild Cat in a offset position or moving around. I just do not see that movement this year which makes me wonder. Can one of the analyst we have comment. This is certainly not to take anything away from Jake, he is my favourite Phin, it just seems they are [protecting him a bit.

Statistically, they are balanced between runs to the left and right. They also didn't really use the unbalanced line in the Wildcat this or last year, it was really a 2008 thing.
-
I don't think he is. He came out of the game for a bit against Cincy. He wouldn't be doing that if he wasn't all the way healthy

I doubt anyone that has played all season long is completely healthy... too violent of a game.
-
Whatever his health status is, I would still rank him as the #1 or 2 LT in the NFL right now.

I really think Ireland has to take advantage of Jake Long being so young and already the best...This offseason must be dedicated to making the oline a weapon itself...We have an interior line that doesn't have the athleticism to pull very well, or get to the 2nd level and locate defenders athletically..
We need a bigtime free agent to be added to the line this offseason....Disgustipate likes this. -
I think he's the best LT out there right now. He's a marvel.

Jeff Ireland did call the Patriots and inquire about a potential Mankins trade. That implies to me that the Dolphins are willing to pay Logan.

I am off the mindset Miami adds the best player(s) they can via FA , pay the price , sign less if needed , but make the signing count , and Mankins fits that criteria. -
That would certainly solidify the OL. I'd still be eyeballing mobile Centers but I could also deal with Berger. -
Carl Nicks is a FA as well, you might think he'll get a crack at the market given the Saints just dropped a load of cash on Jahri Evans and if they make any investment in OL, it should be replacing Jermon Bushrod's awful ***. -
My goodness I would grab Carl Nicks in a heartbeat.
-
I'd love to have him, but would he be worth a pick and money when Mankins is just money? -
I'd like to find a good FA list, they never seem to be correct. KFFL has Jonathan ****ing Ogden as a FA this year. -
I like the strategy that we followed last year...4 position's, 2 vehicle's of aquisition, 2 good sized free agent's, and 2 high draft picks to fill.
So lets just say we dont resign Ronnie, we need to fill 4 position's imo..
Guard..#1 running back....Scat back/returner...Tight end.. should be able to get that done with 2 nice free agent's and 2 high draft pick's. -
Why in the hell was Jake playing in garbage time in the preseason :shifty:
Remember :wink2:Oghma likes this. -
Maybe the reason we dont run to the left side as much is due to the LG not the LT
