What other QB's available would you throw in the mix?

I'd rather go 1-16 than bring in a competent QB just to win a handful of games. That's my fan perspective the players and coaches would hate it. Owner would probably love it tho.

I think they should start shopping new GM's now, and once they have a handful of strong candidates then let Grier go at the end of the year. Is it too early to start campaigning for Bill Belechik as GM? If anyone knows how to build a championship offensive line it is Belechik. Bill Cowher is another man I would love to see take the top spot in our front office.hitman8 likes this. -

Go sign the absolute fastest QB you can find.
Who is that ? Maybe Tyler Huntley ?
Because whoever it is, they are going to be running for their life playing behind sieves like Lester Cotton, Kendall Lamm, Eichenberg and Brewer.Last edited: Sep 13, 2024resnor, dolphin25, Tuanon4Life and 1 other person like this. -

I actually agree with the tanking recommendation. I have my doubts that Tua will either want to play or will be allowed to play. As someone mentioned, the NFL has a hard on for the Dolphins and they get put under a microscope constantly. There is real bias there against the Dolphins.
Look at last week. Sauce gets smacked in the head, is ataxic, confused, and barely able to get up. He left the game for a few plays and came back in. No spotter called and said take him out. Whereas last week Waddle gets grazed in the head, shows not one inkling of a concussion, and the NFL spotters immediately call for him to be removed and checked out.
Or last year when the Rams played the Lions. Stafford was knocked out after hitting the back of his head on the turf. Was in a fencing position. Wobbly. Etc… He goes out a few plays and it’s deemed a “chest injury.” It’s ridiculous.Tuanon4Life likes this. -

Tom Brady's name popped up on possibilities. Not really a surprise. Would the Phins temporarily unretire #12 if they were to sign him?
-
Belichick was hot garbage as a GM, that team was the way it was because of Brady. The offensive lines were generally solid, but they also had the top OL coach for like two decades in Scarnecchia (sp). Between that and Brady, they got luck with the Moss trade and then the Gronk thing. He is the reason that team tanked as soon as Brady walked out the door.
I do think it could be interesting to try and tank the season, but from a talent perspective i don't think we aren't a bottom 5 team even with bad QB play. You'd probably be looking at the second or third tier of QB prospects - the JJ McCarthy's or Bo Nix's or Will Levis.
The biggest question (assuming Tua doesn't return or the team no longer counts on him as a long term solution) is whether Ross would stil entrust Grier and/or McDaniel. Does he see and think of them as solutions and guys who can figure this out? Or as failures whose plan just went bust and who can't be entrusted with a banana stand. If it was me, I'd be seeing about dumping high priced vets for draft capital and starting over while still maintaining some talent (the Sieler, Waddle, Achane, Phillips level guys). But man, I have no idea what this team and Ross will do. I do know I have lost all confidence. -

How is Ross the biggest organizational hurdle to success? Miami was voted by the players as one of the best organizations to play for in terms of facilities, training staff, etc. He has not shied away from spending money on this team. He got caught with the Payton/Brady situation, something every team does, and got disproportionally punished by the league compared to other teams that got caught doing the same thing.
There are far worse owners in the league - Mike Brown and David Tepper come immediately to mind.resnor, dolphin25, jdallen1222 and 2 others like this. -

My biggest beef with Ross is the same beef I have with Jerry Jones in Dallas; he stays loyal to certain people for far too long.
Jones’ loyalty to Romo was undying to a fault. Jones’ loyalty to Prescott is undying to a fault and Ross’ loyalty to Grier has been undying to the detriment to the team.
While I credit Grier with all praise deserved for his off-season acquisition of such talent such as Hill and his ability to draft highly valuable skill position players such a Tua, Waddle and Wilkins, Grier has failed MISERABLY at bringing in elite offensive linemen. Hell, I’d even settle for AVERAGE offensive linemen but the offensive line has been utterly pathetic since the days he was an errand boy for the team.
Miami’s lack of ADEQUATE offensive line play has been the team’s Achilles Heel and has hampered the quarterback play, from Chad Henne to Ryan Tannehill and even I dare say Tua.
Sitting here watching the Texans/Bears game, I’m watching Houston’s OL manhandle the Bears, pushing the line of scrimmage and opening holes large enough to drive a Mack truck through.
If the Dolphins had an OL like THAT, there’s no doubt in my military mind Mostert and Achane…with Wright in the wings, both having 1500 yards rushing. There’s no doubt in my mind Tua wouldn’t have to get rid of the ball in less than 2 seconds after the snap and HUGE down field plays could open up.
We’d be unstoppable with that kind of offensive line play but as long as Grier is our GM, that’s not going to happen and Ross will never part with Grier.
That’s MY beef with Ross. -
TDK, I agree completely. It’s impossible to understand his thinking on this subject. His insistence that the players on the roster are good enough is baffling. His only hit was on Jackson, and that took three years to come to fruition; he could have drafted him with the pick they used for Noah I or even a second rounder.

Get rid of Greer and replace him with Marino.

Answer?
The offensive line!!
The quarterback can be 0 for 50 pass attempts, but if the line holds the rush for 4-5 seconds and allows for zero sacks, the OL did its job
The running back can have 25 rushes for only 25 yards but if the OL opened the holes and creates the gaps for the back to hit, the OL did its job.resnor likes this.
