The thing is, while none of us can condone him or anyone else for drunk driving, and it's apparent that he was drunk driving, I'm curious as to how many other folks were out DD that night that didn't get their names in the media....Some have inferred that there is an epidemic of DD in the NFL. I say there is just as much DD reported in the NFL as there is in mainstream society, just that only the athletes with names get the notoriety. Some seem to act like this is a problem that only infects athletes. Well, it's not even close. On a Wednesday night road check site near Atlanta there were 27 DUI violations...a 5 hour check site wielded 27 DUIs. Now, not one of those folks got their names in the papers or on the internet. Who's kidding who to blame this problem on athletes ?? Just a thought to throw out there. Again, not condoning or approving of it, but it is happening throughout the general populous, not just to athletes...

Of course, the athletes also are more capable of getting a cab, with respect to their ability to afford it. So, it makes the decision not to do so even worse.DolfanJake and PhinsFanWife like this. -
Why can't it ever be players like Torbor or something that gets into these sorts of problems? FML

Or maybe it's just more agenda BS from you...
You two don't like Ronnie......we get itOzzy, TotoreMexico, resnor and 2 others like this. -
I guess I haven't read the threads and posts that you refer too. I tend to be quite selective on which ones I actually open and read. Maybe it's just my failure to (as of yet) renew my Club Level subscription. :wink2: -

i never said i didnt like ronnie just dont like the fact that he cant stay on the field and now he has been busted for driving around drunk
anyway what business of yours is it who i like and dislike
you didnt have a legitimate response to back up why you said i was the type of person to defend porter because you didnt have one
all you do is come in take cheap shots at me then hide just because i hurt your feelings about jason taylor -
He doesn't need to be crucified for it, he made a mistake like we all have done or will do in our lifetimes, thankfully noone was hurt. If he does it again then fine berate him all you want but the guy has been a saint for his whole career including college so it's certainly not the norm for him. Hopefully he learned a lesson.

man, we really need to stop caring so much about what these guys do off the field. It's not our problem. We aren't Ronnie Brown. We aren't Ireland, Sparano, Parcells, or Ross. This is their problem.
I think what gets me is the short sightedness of it all. Right now Ronnies a devil, right? But it will be forgotten. I mean come on, we forgave RICKY WILLIAMS! He literally derailed our franchise over his personal problems and yet he still goes out there and plays football for us.
Ronnie won't do this again. Case dismissed. Move on. -
lol..yeah, I'm devastated
The reason you'd probably choose to defend Porter is that you seem to have no respect for guys with class.......figured Porter would be your type of guy. Don't blame me, you earned it -
This however doesn't mean that we don't recognize this as a 'big deal'. We understand the severity of the situation. We understand that people could have been injured or even killed. Continuing to point that out isn't going to make it any clearer to any of us. We already know this.
This doesn't mean that we shouldn't continue to support him and hope that he resolves any issue he has with alcohol. He's a smart kid and very respectful. I fully expect him to learn from this situation. Or at least I pray that he does. -
Hmm I can't help but think were going to be drafting a RB pretty high....

Folks, a DUI is something that the NFL may be able to overlook without a suspension. Lying to a police officer in the course of an investigation is not. The OP is right. It gets worse -- much worse.
-
By the way, I don't follow you around. I read almost every thread, and your posts require my replies. Like it or not...sorry! -

As for Ronnie not doing it again. When I used to drink I would drive all the time so I won't say Ronnie won't do it again but he does seem like a person that can learn a leason. That's what I choose to do. HOPE he learns well... -
Never got caught, but in my younger years I drove drunk a few times, so I am not going to throw the first stone. Since about 1975 if I start to drink and am away from my home, I give someone my keys, and I don't have an NFL player's salary, but I am not the one who should judge.

i have stated that jason taylor shouldnt be resigned because he is old. is it really disrespectful to believe that when that is how i truly feel. so far i guess i am right because he is not back with the dolphins
also i have stated that ronnie brown was stupid for driving drunk which is the truth. he got arrested for doing so
earned what? all i have done is state my opinion which i am entitled to and it rubs you the wrong way so you continue to take shots at me.
if i say that taylor has lost a step or brown lacks breakaway speed is that disrespecting a player. you need to have thicker skin there bro and stop worrying about how i feel about certain players. -
This is A PRIME EXAMPLE for the reason the USA should just legalize weed.
People smoking weed won't wreck into you and kill your children (Alcoholic drivers will...), the worst they do is just pass up their exit, and the driver drives slowly and carefully while they make a u-turn...MrClean likes this. -
What you think is of no concern.........it's your little cheap shots, thinking that you're cute and then watching you cry when someone speaks up about it. It's amazing that you're shocked when you get certain responses to the crap you post...
Anyways, we're done.....I'm bored. -
