This was shaping up to be the worst loss in franchise history. When we were down 15-0 I felt worse than I did when we were getting smoked 62-7 in the playoffs. Worse than when we finished 1-15. Worse than when we blew the 4th quarter lead against NE to miss out on the playoffs.
Over 10 years of pure disappointment coalesced to create the perfect disaster. A rout against an 0-8 team after a week of pure hell and media scrutiny that has put the spotlight on this organization after a horrendous stretch of football and a fan base that doesn't even show up.
I thought Philbin was done. But then something magical happened. A WR stepped up and made plays. We scored points. Our D stepped it up.
We were simply gassed at the end as the team got destroyed up front to start the game and had to expend tremendous energy, on top of the mental strain to make a comeback.
I'm not happy our season is over and I'm not happy we lost, but I am still proud of the players on that football field that could have easily folded.
They didn't do it for show. They did it to show that they still had heart for their leader in Philbin, and think their efforts could have save Philbin's job if we somehow end with a respectable record.

Im not so sure I'd say valiant comeback... I guess given the circumstances... sure... but we spotted them 15 points, but coming out completely incompetent, as usual this season. Tampa is not a good team. They proved it by trying to give us this game multiple times. At the end of the day, they beat us, by running straight through our supposebly great front 7, with 3rd and 4th string RB's.. That... that's not valiant. Personally, I think had the playcalling been better after the Wilson INT, and we got 7 there... we're celebrating a win tonight. It would have demoralized a Bucs team, that's blown so many leads this year and lost tough games already.

To me, there's no way you can lose that game. There's no way you can lose to that Bills team after a bye at home vs Thad Lewis.
Philbin and this coaching staff do a very poor job of rolling with a game. They're INCREDIBLY stubborn. The stretch play with Thomas was just terrible. The belief in Clabo to block Mario Williams 1-on-1 was horrible.
I don't see it. The players fought back because we have some talent and the Bucs let us back in it. Any other team and that's a 40 pt loss.
No credit to anyone. -
front 7 got ran over. I think they lost the game big time. 2 yards rushing. i know, but that wass kind of by design. We were throwing all over them. why run? Anytime we did it was like giving them a free play.
The defense though, they disgusted me. 170yds to the 3rd and 4th rb? Soliai...have a good career you fat ****. you're paid to stop that. Starks too. Where was our interior dlinemen tonight. god damnit.joenhre likes this. -
Win wise.. nope.
Morale wise.. nope. -
The comeback was cool at the time.....but it means nothing now.......it is Hollow. We settled for a FG when we had a 1st and goal(good teams punch it in) Then the D allowed the Bucs to run right over them with backup RBs. And the O Line almost got the kid killed on the last possession. They can wipe their behinds with that "comeback"

The lack of a running game could have been overcome with the no huddle (Hello Pats) which seemed to put them on the ropes. And Schiano is a terrible coach, very susceptible to the up-tempo style of offense. JMO.

If Philbin wants to survive this mess, he should get rid of Sherman ASAPASOT, Ducken, Bpk and 1 other person like this. -
Why not call that on 1st down? Bucs were aggressive all game. It's safe. Try it then.
We as fans have been griping all year about the running game, so Sherman tries one. I'm cool with that. Hell, gulp, I'm even fine with Thomas getting the ball because Lamar did nothing...but why the stretch? To the left side no doubt?
I thought Tannehill had a play on 2nd to just run it in.GMJohnson likes this. -
I personally think this team looked very flat throughout most of the game, save for a few moments. This team's morale after this loss is probably going to hit rock bottom. I'm looking at 2, maybe 3 more wins until the end of the season which leaves us at 6-10 or at best, 7-9.

I'm not sure what was magical which happened in this game for the Dolphins.
They started out playing terrible against one of the worst teams in the NFL. A team that was playing with a rookie QB and their 3rd and 4th string RB's.
The Bucs have played several teams close this year and given up big leads several times this season. They lost every one of those games, until tonight. The fact the Dolphins came back and took the lead, only to totally collapse in the fourth quarter and lose the game shows how far this team is from being a good NFL football team.
Other than the play of WR Rishard Matthews, I really didn't much which made me feel good about the play of the Dolphins tonight.joenhre likes this. -

Saw a few O plays called that I thought were creative. Tanny keeper on 3rd (?) and short. Pass to the left (brain fart on receiver) for a TD. Hated a stretch play using Thomas. Dumb

I find it difficult to think Sherman survives another season unless he gets blind support from a stubborn head coach who survives his owner's wavering.

Philbin proved he is unworthy of this job tonight.

There's no silver lining in losing to an 0-8 team. Doesn't matter if you lost by 10 or lost on a hail mary at the end. You had 11 days to prepare fro a winless team and you took a crap all over yourself and made a larger mockery of this franchise on national television. So, no I don't view it as a valiant comeback because they didn't comeback. They lost. Rushed for 2 yards. Committed 2 atrocious penalties. Broke down and gave up 2 sacks when it mattered most. Gave up a safety running a handoff 6 yards into the end zone. Have big money players who can't tackle. Have players who constantly fall down and slip in coverage. A HUGE money WR who, if the ball isn;t thrown perfectly to him, is allergic to fighting or catching the ball. A coach and staff that are in way over their heads. I find nothing valiant about tonight. A chance to potentially save this season and make a statement and the Dolphins did what everyone said they would. They layed out a hot pile of crap for the whole nation to see and showed that they are indeed a hot mess and that a regime change is needed sooner than later.

I kind of agree with the original post and the sentiment contained there. We had fought back, up by one point, after the interception, first and goal from the 9 yard line or whatever it was. and couldn't put them away. Settled for the field goal, and the rest is history. This team is wildly inconsistent. We find a potential savior in Rishard Matthews... for a couple of drives he looks like Anquan Boldin and then all of a sudden we forget who he is and where he lines up. Can't explain that.

After what went down this week you don't come out as a team looking uninterested and not prepared like the Dolphins looked tonight. Like they have looked in many games this season. You don't have your defense and special teams put you in great field position and only come away with two field goals. Same things happened under Sparano and we all know how that ended.
I gave Philbin the benefit of the doubt, even though his team hasn't been able to finish any game (other than lucking out in overtime against the Bengals) since starting 3-0. Philbin is 1-5 since then. Every game has been close other than the Saints game which I guess you can say is good. However a great coached team wins that game last night against a team down to their 3rd string RB and a rookie QB. Great coached teams coming off of a bye week, beat a banged up Bills team that was starting a QB that had been on their practice squad 2 weeks prior. Great coached teams don't go 1-5. The Dolphins need a great coach not a ho-hum mediocre one.ASOT likes this.
