Jake Long injury/Jake is fine...updated page 3

Jake Long goes down at practice...

Dolphins left tackle Jake Long left practice moments ago after suffering an undisclosed right leg injury during practice.

Long was protecting on a quick pass when he suddenly fell to the ground in a heap of other players. The others got up. Long stayed on the turf inside the Dolphins practice bubble for at least two minutes. Two, long, painfully uncertain minutes.

After trainers and coach Joe Philbin came over to assess the problem, Long eventually was helped to his feet and walked to a cart parked along the sideline. Trainers unfastened his right knee brace, pulled it down to his ankle and began to work the area between the knee and ankle even as Long shook his head in disgust.

When Jake Long left bubble with trainers because of his knee injury Jonathan Martin lined up at LT, Artis Hicks at RT and John Jerry at RG.

Poor guy, Hope noting serious.

As a side note at least we don't have to worry about the Colts tanking the season for Barkley.

Well now Martin can go back to his normal position and with Carey at RT we will survive. Oh wait...........

Without Jake Long, that is going to a very real scenario. I don't even want to think about our rookie QB having to play behind this line if it's serious. This sucks. Not only for the team, but mostly for Jake Long. This is 3 years now that he'll be playing with various injuries. He's starting to get an injury prone label, and I'm just not sure how much the team can afford to pay him if he's always going to be injured. This really sucks.

On the bright side (I"m trying), watch Will Yeatman at LT in the Cowboys game on Wednesday and tell me he's not better in pass protection than Mr. Martin (or any other tackle we've had on the roster not named Jake Long the last 3 years).

I'm laughing at all the gloom and doom. We don't even know what happened yet.

Long didn't even play that well last year. Now don't get me wrong, we are better with him.

Lets see what the injury is before we start jumping off bridges.

I agree. Yeatman can pass block pretty well, at least against other backups.

Love Jake but in all honestly ? He played like shiiiiit Friday night. Did not play much better the week before. The better DEs are flying by him and his drive blocking inside has completely disapeared. I am guessing the surgeries he has had are taking their tolls. Yeah he said he felt great, best ever, when he was in OTAs but since the live hitting has been happening, this is not the Jake Long we have all seen. Good reason to not and run and resign this man for as much money as some think he should get. Not an Ireland basher nor an Ireland flag waiver but I do agree, let Jake play this season and lets see what he has before we throw enough money to buy a small central american country at him.

Well, if they were working on the area between the knee and ankle, that would be the tibia or fibula. Best one could hope for is just a bruise.

I was hoping he'd get the start at LT, but with the Long injury, if he's out for any amount of time I suspect they'll put Martin there for some reps against the Cowboys.

would be a interesting debate what to do with 1st pick in the draft next year if our season somehow got that bad. Trade down and maybe miss an elite player or maybe Tannehill has a really bad year do they then draft a qb sigh could see all kind of madness in the offseason.
