What is the likelihood of Jarvis Landry starting alongside Mike Wallace in the upcoming season?

Landry is starting. Our base offense is 3 WRs.

Well Landry was mainly #2 WR at LSU so he does play WR #2 well.

Where has Travis been? Anyone know?

He's probably trying on skinny jeans and debating whether he wants to bet his bank roll on us to cover the spread this week.
 :shifty:
I'm sure he's fine. Hes a good/smart guy.djphinfan likes this. -
I think they should be looking at giving Jarvis Landry more work outside of the slot. He's not performing quite as efficiently outside the slot as he is in it, but he's still quite good in that regard for a rookie.
I'm not sure Landry is wasted as a slot receiver, but I think you can use his body positioning and catching skills down the line. -
Ideally I'd want Landry wide as a possession guy, someone like Vincent Jackson on the other side as a bigger, downfield guy, and someone with speed and wiggle like Tavon Austin in the slot. Couple that with a Lamar Miller who can take the ball the distance in the run game or on screens, and a big-bodied pass-catching tight end like Gronkowski or Jimmy Graham, and now you really have something. You have a high number of mismatch players on the field, coupled with a very reliable possession guy (Landry) who can help move the chains.

I think that it depends on what the offensive scheme is next year. I'd like to see the team add a big playmaker on the outside via the draft and keep Landry in the slot for 2015. Still, I think that whatever his role, he could challenge for the team record in receptions for a single season, given his comfort level with RT.

I'm not concerned with where he lines up. He is a great football player. He will always be a guy that can be counted on no matter where you put him.
But, to answer the OP... the likelihood he might line up outside next season? I think he will wind up being a guy who lines up everywhere, but, you'll see him mostly in the slot.dolfan7171 likes this. -
Here's some current Landry stats:
He has run 77.4% of his routes from the slot(8th among starters)
His yards per route run is 1.86(5th among slot receivers)
He's is proportionately the heaviest-target slot receiver(23.9% of his snaps in the slot he's thrown at)
His catch rate is 79.4%(1st among slot receivers)
His overall yards per route run(Which I think is an excellent measure of efficiency) is 1.79. So he's less efficient out of the slot, but overall he's 24th in the league.Larry Little and Fins Hipster like this. -

Won't lie, first time I read the thread title I thought it was about a bobblehead give away.

How can something seemingly so commonplace around the league be so completely absent from our team? -
When we lose a game, it's easy to forget that 23-yard scamper by Hartline on a crossing route in the 1st quarter that was negated by a 12-yard sack the very next play which killed the drive. Or, a 28-yard catch-and-run by Damien Williams that miraculously converted a 3rd and 23. Yet, we still had to punt due to a WR dropping a 3rd down pass four plays later. The point is, we actually are getting those plays. Certainly more than in previous seasons. We just haven't seen that nearly as much in the last 2-3 weeks.
We still have room for improvement. There's no doubt about that. However, this offense is head-and-shoulders better than it was last season, and IMO, is the best offense we've had since Marino was under center.
I'm not trying to be argumentative. I just think it's not quite as bad as you think.
I agree that we need a playmaker on offense. I'm just not convinced he absolutely needs to be a WR. I think if we had an Adrian Peterson at RB or a Vernon Davis at TE, our WRs would be more than adequate. -

I kind of like Nick O'Leary the TE out of FSU in the draft. I also like Clive Walford the TE out of UM. Does anyone have suggestions of any other College TE that I can take a look at?
