NEW YORK JETS PRESEASON ONE-LINERS
-
Coles was seen laughing and talking with Favre last night on the sidelines so I'm not too worried. Of course they'll be split on it from the beginning since the players did love Chad, make no mistake about that, but once Favre hits the field they'll all be behind him. Favre spent the entire night last night on the sidelines with the receivers and Offensive Line. Smart man.

I think the Jets have the edge knowing Chad's tendencies. It is easier to change a play call then it is to change the way a guy plays.Stitches likes this. -
Getting onto the Favre subject...is it just me or does he just not seem up to it? It really seems like Favre wanted Green Bay, NFC North, or bust. He just doesn't seem happy and he seems like he's second guessing. He even said something to that yesterday about how practice was one of those days that make you second guess yourself.
If I was a Jet fan, and thank God I'm not, I'd be worried if Brett Favre is just going to wing out there with an idea of 50% of the playbook, or if he's really going to try to learn everything, work with his WR's, etc. rather than having everyone adjust to him. It will be very interesting.
I agree with you Aqua. I think we have the real advantage here in Week 1. If we're going to win one against the Jets this year, it will be Week 1 at home on opening day when the Jets don't have it together yet. -
That makes no sense. -
What I meant by "have it together yet" was they won't be firing on all cylinders and a potentially dangerous team like they can be. -
The only player that appears to be upset about the Favre signing/trading/whatever is Laveranues Coles. He still doesn't want to talk to media and says he "needs a few more days". But you know what Laveranues? Its a business, deal with it. We guarenteed your final two years, every single dime, so shut your mouth and play with a better Quarterback. Doesn't matter anyway, Laveranues with Brett in town will be a fourth option.
-
I'm sure Coles isn't the only one upset, he just might be the most vocal. It won't matter anyways wants Favre gets in there. I still believe that the leadership, fight, and comraderie that Pennington had with that team will be surely missed and I don't know that Favre's athletic abilities will make up for it all.
I find it hard to believe that Jets fans think it will be such an easy transition. I'm expecting a tough one for us too, but I hope that after 4 games Pennington will have a hold on this team like he did with the Jets.
If Favre keeps saying things like he has the past few days in the media, it'll be hard to follow and believe in a guy like that.sking29 likes this. -
We do have a good receiving pair in Coles & Cotchery and yes you have to love Coles' speed and it will be used, but make no mistake about it Coles will be the third option at best in this offense.
1. Jerricho Cotchery
2. The Tight Ends (I originally had two of them 2 and 3)
3. Laveranues Coles
Get used to the new Jets. Chad's in Miami.
Favre has been performing very well in practice and his transition is going smoothly. Can't wait to see it in game action against another teams defense on Saturday. I'll be there with bells on. -
he sorta spins everything in a positive manner. in his eyes, the jets do no wrong -
David Bowens, the one that (we let) got away
-
I always liked bowens.
-
He starts up the mother of all temper tantrums and DEMANDS to come back and play football, goes through weeks of aggravation and uncertainty, even has the gall to set conditions on his return or release... and then he refuses to commit to playing football for more than this season.
Next March is going to be epic.

Coles is such a big cry baby its not even funny. The guy is a concussion away from his career being over and the organization still guarenteed his final two years in full ($11 million) to make him happy. STFU Laveranues and play football. This isn't whats best for Laveranues its whats best for the New York Jets. You're the only one after a couple days of Favre instead of Pennington still whining and complaining. Just because your stats will go down from 2006 (since you can't really use his 2007 stats because he missed so much time -- a couple of games and in other games would play maybe the 1st quarter before being taken out) because your boy Chad is in Miami.
Coles can go to hell. I'm done with him. -
I guarantee Coles has more friends on that team than Favre. Jet fans had best hope it gets better, or you may be like the bickering Bills.
-
hes their #1 receiver and hes not happy with the qb situation. a recipe for success there

I've watched them and pulled for them for 30 some years, so, I feel I have the right to be a semi-homer when it comes to them. And to hate other teams.
Just wanted to put in my 2 cents.
And as our guest here, I welcome you and hope you enjoy visiting the best fan site in the NFL. :up:MelbournePhin, calphin, HardKoreXXX and 1 other person like this. -
what locker room issues do we have?
-
As to his motivation......it's suspect right now; in spite of what any Jets fans may think.
We'll see.....Myself I think he may make them a little better, but I also think the results won't be any better than when Montana went to KC.
In fact speaking again to the motivation issue.
Compare post-trade comments regarding "how much longer?" between Favre and Jason Taylor.Last edited: Aug 12, 2008 -
Since I know you're all so worried:
From todays Star Ledger:
"A person close to him (Coles) said he has nothing against Brett Favre. In fact, he likes Favre. He was just not ready to talk publicly. He is upset about the release of his good friend Chad Pennington though." -

Worried? Not a chance:up: I see this team getting younger, in great cap shape. were on our way to the top:up: I have news for ya, more often than not, when teams try to buy S/B's, it blows up in their faces.
